You might be 60-0 against those "Big" 12 schools, but that all changes when the b-ball is Atlantic Coast style. Juan Dixon showed he's a better big-game player than Jason Williams, despite Williams winning most of the awards simply because of the school he attends, and the writers sucking his dick as a result. They've got this whole "Arizona fluke champ" vibe going. After all, Maryland has been known to choke in big games. Last night was a big game admittedly, but Kansas are usually bigger chokers anyway. I dunno, against UK Maryland looked ok but didn't scream out national champion. I figure if they put Fife on Dixon and get Baxter in foul trouble Indiana can certainly win. I thought it was rather obvious that I was a MD fan, especially since I've mentioned hailing from MD in several posts on this board. Indiana has beaten some teams they should have lost to "on paper," true. But looking at it objectively, MD simply has too much depth. Their second five could be the first five for a lot fo schools. Dixon always finds a way to get open and score, especially in big games, and they've proven they can win without Baxter being a significant factor. In fact, a more athletic frontcourt of Wilcox, Holden, and Mouton would serve them better sometimes, but it's hard to fault Gary for sticking with a senior who got his jersey retired. I don't know why Indiana is my pick tomorrow, just a feeling. It's kinda like when U of L beat Duke in 1986 despite all logic going for the Devils. Besides, Maryland has only impressed me once the whole tourney, when the killed Wisconsin. I think it boils down to this: You don't beat Duke the weird way IN did and then job to Maryland. With that said, I dont think MD will let that happen. Juan Dixon is one tough little bastard. And he looks pretty determined. But then again, Im biased.
