And the MTV VMA nominees are.....

Recommended Posts

Guest Agent of Oblivion

John Mayer, "Your Body is a Wonderland"

This song makes me want to lobotomize myself with my own dick. It's the sappiest, weakest, sissiest, most castrated puddle of carnival vomit that has ever seeped from a magnet and a paper cone in a box. If I could hit John Mayer in the face with a brick, I would gladly confess my crime and do the sentence.

He's the male Jewel, only ripping off Dave Matthews, which is just about the gheyest thing a person can do.

Yeah, that song just screams three things to me: "No Balls", "Insincere", and "Trying To Get Laid"

Although the chick in the video is incredibly, incredibly hot. Does anyone know her name, or if she's been in anything else?

50's "In the Club" video is just a ripoff of D.O.C's "the formula" video.

Johnny Cash will probably win nothing at all or everything that he is nominated

for. In 1989, Neil Young won best video for one that MTV had banned and a

lot of people were like "who is that old guy?". They

lifted the ban on the video eventually, but hardly played it; and this was when

they played a lot of videos.

Who the FUCK cares who wins what or not? They are the MTV VMAs. Nothing more than that. The award itself is worthless (the show AND the actual award).

The show is not worthless, Brittney Spears did a great strip tease one year.

The MTV VMAs are about who's popular and not about who's talented. With that said, Johny Cash realistically has a slim chance of winning Best Video. It wil come down to either Eminem or 50 Cent. If Eminem wins, I'm fine with it because I liked "Lose Yourself". But if 50 Suck wins, I am going to throw up. "In Da Club" was one of the worst songs I have ever heard.

I'm baffled as to how In Da Club got nominated for Best Video. Regardless of your feelings for the song, which I personally dislike, you must admit that the video is completely forgetable in every way.

I'm really not much of a 50 Cent fan, but the P.I.M.P. remix with Snoop Dogg is fucking great.

This has got to be the shittiest year of the VMA's yet. I remember in 1994 when even if you weren't a huge fan of the artists, it was at least fun to watch. Shit, every category is filled with the same fucking people. They should just go all the way with the VMAs and name them the "ClearChannel thanks for the millions" awards.

If MTV decides to give Cash the award, I will forgive them for the fact that their lineup completely sucks, and I'll partially forgive them for the cancellation of Clone High.

That being said, I predict 50 Cent or Eminem will win.

Who gives a shit if Cash wins. It is an MTV award for christs sake. MTV was better when they knew what they were good for, now they act like they are so legit and that they are the highest judges of what is good music in today's industry. Even if Cash wins it is just a middle finger to everyone to say, "look we are hip, we gave an award to Johnny Cash"

Ahem. MTV with their VJ's always saying shit like "If you're not on TRL you're nothing" crap. Ian Robinson is just as bad. His sarcasm is funny at times but he's a fuckin' poser too. Suck the cocks of all the "underground" bands but once they blow up he rips on them. He's the typical indy, punk, metal, hardcore, whatever fan.

Anyway, who do you think will perform this year? It's been the year of pop punk so MTV will make sure to build them up as the greatest live rock bands that ever lived.

Hurt by Johnny Cash was easily the best video of the year.

I just find great amount of funny in the fact that MTV nominated this video...and it's probably never even been played on the station.

"Lose Yourself" was a friggin MOVIE CLIP VIDEO, just like any other video made with a movie soundtrack in mind! What the hell!

Argh, there were just SUCH better videos this year... and I don't even mean by better bands or anything, there were simply better ones as far as actual video quality. "Star Guitar" was ROBBED last year, and "Come Into My World" was totally forgotten this year too. Anyone who's seen that knows it's better than any of the Best Video nominees (outside of the Cash video, I've yet to see it).

Oh man, you NEED to see that video Kotz.

I don't go around calling video's great very often (or hardly ever outside of like...Welcome to the Jungle some 16 years ago) but this video (and I stress VIDEO since it is a VIDEO award) was GREAT.

Wow. What a pile of shit. And where the hell is RHCP "Can't Stop"?

And Weezer's "Keep Fishin'"?

I mean...Muppets! They passed up a chance for a live performance of Weezer WITH MUPPETS!

That probably wouldn't have happened, what with the band being on yet another hiatus do to Patrick Wilson and Brian Bell launching their respective side-projects this year....

This doesn't help the show any....

50 Cent is now confirmed as a performer for the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. Other performers include Good Charlotte, Coldplay, and Christina Aguilera.

Chris Rock will be hosting the show which will take place on August 28th from New York City's Radio City Music Hall.

The funny thing is, Christina Aguilera will blow all 3 of them off stage. (Not that way, perverts)

I've got no issues with Ian. He's one of the few people that MTV has employed who's ass I wouldn't want to have kicked. ( I wouldn't do it myself, I wouldn't want to be bothered with the efforts of pummeling them). Plus he got the Misfits tat on his arm at the tattoo parlor right down the road from my place in Cambridge, MA. That gets points in my book.

Are there any specific bands that he went from supporting to ripping?

I predict Ja Rule and 50 Cent encounter each other backstage, talk a lot of shit, and end up not laying a hand on one another. Pussies.

Actually, yes THAT WAY, but that is behind the stage AFTER her performance. Aguilera has officially ousted Mariah Carrey as the new blowjob queen of R&B music.

Here are my predictions for the show. I will write who I want to win and who MTV will pick to win:

Video Of The Year

50 Cent, "In Da Club"

Eminem, "Lose Yourself"

Johnny Cash, "Hurt"

Justin Timberlake, "Cry Me a River"

Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott, "Work It"

Who I want to win: Johnny Cash. Who will most likely win: 50 Suck or Eminem but 50 more likely.

Best Male Video

50 Cent, "In Da Club"

Eminem, "Lose Yourself"

John Mayer, "Your Body is a Wonderland"

Johnny Cash, "Hurt"

Justin Timberlake, "Cry Me a River"

Who I want to win: Johnny Cash. Who will most likely win: 50 Suck or Eminem but Eminem more likely.

Best Female Video

Avril Lavigne, "I'm With You"

Beyonce f/ Jay-Z, "Crazy in Love"

Christina Aguilera, "Dirrty"

Jennifer Lopez, "I'm Glad"

Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott, "Work It"

Who I want to win: Avril (of course). Who will most likely win: Beyonce. The video for "Dirrty" didn't get much airplay that I know of. And "Crazy In Love" has gotten MASSIVE rotation on MTV. The Beyonce solo push continues.

Best New Artist In A Video

50 Cent, "In Da Club"

All-American Rejects, "Swing, Swing"

Evanescence f/ Paul McCoy, "Bring Me to Life"

Kelly Clarkson, "Miss Independent"

Sean Paul, "Get Busy"

Simple Plan, "Addicted"

Who I want to win: ANYONE BUT 50 SUCK. Who will most likely win: 50 Suck. It's a no-brainer sadly.

Breakthrough Video

Coldplay, "The Scientist"

Floetry, "Floetic"

Kenna, "Freetime"

Queens of the Stone Age, "No One Knows"

Sum 41, "The Hell Song"

Who I want to win: Sum 41 (The video is pretty cool). Who will most likely win: Sum 41 or maybe even Coldplay.

Best Group Video

B2K f/ P. Diddy, "Bump, Bump, Bump"

Coldplay, "The Scientist"

Good Charlotte, "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous"

The Donnas, "Take It Off"

The White Stripes, "Seven Nation Army"

Who I want to win: I don't like any of the bands nominated but I'll chose White Stripes because I like "Seven Nation Army." Who will most likely win: Good Charlotte.

Best Rap Video

2 Pac f/ Nas, "Thugz Mansion"

50 Cent, "In Da Club"

Eminem, "Lose Yourself"

Ludacris f/ Mystikal, "Move B***h"

Nas, "I Can"

Who I want to win: Eminem. Who will most likely win: Eminem or 50 Suck. Anything with those two in the catergories will end up being a no-contest for the rest of the artists.

Best R&B Video

Aaliyah, "Miss You"

Ashanti, "Rock Wit U (Awww Baby)"

Beyonce f/ Jay-Z, "Crazy in Love"

Nelly f/ Kelly Rowland, "Dilemma"

R. Kelly, "Ignition Remix"

Who I want to win: Beyonce (I love the video for "Crazy In Love") Who will most likely win: Beyonce. Again, the solo push.

Best Hip-Hop Video

Busta Rhymes f/ Mariah Carey, "I Know What You Want"

Jay-Z f/ Beyonce, "'03 Bonnie & Clyde"

Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott, "Work It"

Nelly, "Hot in Herre"

Snoop Dogg f/ Pharrell & Uncle Charlie Wilson, "Beautiful"

Who I want to win: Jay-Z f/ Beyonce. Who will most likely win: It's a tossup between Jay-Z f/ Beyonce and Nelly's "Hot In Herre".

Best Dance Video

Christina Aguilera, "Dirrty"

Jennifer Lopez, "I'm Glad"

Justin Timberlake, "Rock Your Body"

Mya, "Your Love Is Like...Wo"

Sean Paul, "Get Busy"

Who I want to win: Mya (I love the video for "Your Love Is Like...Wo". Who will most likely win: Justin Timberlake or Sean Paul. J.Lo BETTER not win!

Best Rock Video

Evanescence f/ Paul McCoy, "Bring Me to Life"

Good Charlotte, "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous"

Linkin Park, "Somewhere I Belong"

Metallica, "St. Anger"

The White Stripes, "Seven Nation Army"

Who I want to win: Evanesence or Linkin Park. Who will most likely win: Good Charlotte or Linkin Park.

Best Pop Video

Avril Lavigne, "Sk8er Boi"

Christina Aguilera, "Dirrty"

Justin Timberlake, "Cry Me a River"

Kelly Clarkson, "Miss Independent"

No Doubt, "Underneath It All"

Who I want to win: Avril (duh. I HATE "sk8er Boi" but I want her to win SOMETHING so that I could see her on the show since she ain't performing this year.) Who will most likely win: It's a tossup. "Sk8er Boi" was played heavily on MTV. It's either "Sk8er Boi", "Cry Me A River", or "Miss Independant".

Best Video From A Film

Britney Spears f/ Pharrell of N.E.R.D., "Boys (Co-Ed Remix)" ("Austin Powers in Goldmember")

Eminem, "Lose Yourself" ("8 Mile")

Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott, "Work It"

Queens of the Stone Age, "Go With the Flow"

Justin Timberlake, "Cry Me a River"

Kelly Clarkson, "Miss Independent

Who I want to win: Eminem. Who will most likely win: Eminem or 50 Suck.

Weak list of nominees this year. The same three videos were nominated for three seperate catergories!

Kind of disappointing considering this is the 20th Annual MTV Video Music Awards so I expect some pizazz for the show. And 50 Suck performing isn't making things better. I guess I'll flip between this and SmackDown! and catch the rest on one of the 1,000 repeats of the show they show during the weekend. On the bright side, Chris Rock is hosting. He is the best VMA host ever.

You know what would make this show worth watching? Seeing Avril win this pop award and throw a hissy fit on stage because she was called pop and not punk or rock.

Avril trying to prove her "cred" = ratings.
