Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Quick Top 5 1. Ohio St-return entire offense, and defense is pretty much back has well. 2. Oklahoma-awesome defense. can Jason White step up and lead team. 3.Miami- the loss of Dorsey will hurt. Berlin was highly touted, let's see if he can live up to the hype. 4.USC-like Miami they lost their QB. the great talent around Leinhart should keep the Trojans near the top of the rankings all season. 5.Texas-they'll be better without Chris Simms. With weapons like Williams, Benson, and Johnson. Chance Mock should have no problems taking over has the starter. Other thoughts first marquee game. USC vs Auburn. Two Top 10 teams. Expecations have never been higher for the Tigers. USC brings one the countries best Defense's to take on the awesome running game of the Tigers. Best player know one's heard of. QB-Matt Schwab. Threw for 28 TD's for Virginia last year. Beat out Philip Rivers for All Acc honors last year.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 26, 2003 What's the National title game? Suger Bowl? Or Rose Bowl? Either way... Oklahoma Vs USC
Guest teke184 Report post Posted July 26, 2003 Partial Vegas odds on the national championship: Oklahoma at 5-2 Ohio State at 5-2 Notre Dame at 18-1 LSU at 25-1 Southern Mississippi at 500-1 Louisville at 250-1 Most of the usual suspects like Miami, Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, etc. are all about 8-1. Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted July 26, 2003 Washington and NC State are both playing Ohio State in Columbus. A big win could put Washington into the national title hunt, or be NC State's coming out party, the win that marks it's rise to a college football power. Either that, or Cody Pickett and Philip Rivers will be eliminated from the Heisman hunt early. Oklahoma and USC both have QB problems...Oklahoma's starter Jason White can't stay healthy, and USC's QB's outside of Hance haven't played much. The good thing for both teams is that they have solid lines and a lot of talent around them to make up for whatever mistakes they may make.

Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 27, 2003 Probation. The Wisconsin line was a joke. Although, I do think they'll have a good team this year. K-State won't anything. The always find ways to let 1 or 2 games, slip through their fingers.
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Report post Posted July 27, 2003 Probation. Yeah I know. But I can still hope for a 10-3 season with Shula at the helm. But if... can't do it, then I am sure that... will!
Guest Smark-Raving Mad Report post Posted July 27, 2003 This is as excited as I've been about my Pitt Panthers in a long time. They're going to light it up on offense and should have a pretty decent defense. Plus they have ND, Va Tech and Miami all at home.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted July 27, 2003 I wish Maryland had a chance. Sat, Aug 30 at Northern Illinois Sat, Sep 6 at Florida State Sat, Sep 13 Citadel Sat, Sep 20 West Virginia Sat, Sep 27 at Eastern Michigan Sat, Oct 4 Clemson Sat, Oct 11 Duke Thu, Oct 23 at Georgia Tech Sat, Nov 1 North Carolina Thu, Nov 13 Virginia Sat, Nov 22 at North Carolina State Sat, Nov 29 at Wake Forest The 4 bold games are the tough games (2 Thursday Night ESPN games!) and the season sucks if they lose to FSU in week 2 (which they shouldn't). The rest of the season is pretty much the cheesecake ACC schedule that will cease once VA Tech and Miami enter the ACC.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted July 27, 2003 The Peach Bowl was LAST season, we're talking about NOW~! Kansas State always chokes somehow and blows it after looking unstoppable until the end of the season.
Guest teke184 Report post Posted July 27, 2003 I'm predicting the Trojans and Kansas State in the NC. BTW, USC has John David Booty, which means they will own everyone. That's all John David Booty? Puh-leeeze. Evangel High School has produced a bunch of whiny little bitches who can't produce consistantly on the college level. Josh Booty was pathetic at minor league baseball and at LSU football. Abram Booty was a good receiver but he turned to shit when his brother returned to be the QB. Brock Berlin is the only Evangel player who has a shot in Hell of pulling it off and that's if he doesn't get passed up as QB at Miami this year. If he does, he's done because he can't quit the team and transfer AGAIN.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 27, 2003 This is the final BCS series right? At least contractually? I still want a 4 Game series...Keep the BCS system... #1 Vs #2- Suger Bowl #3 Vs #4- Rose Bowl #5 Vs #6-Orange Bowl #7 Vs #8-Fiesta Bowl and thus alternate the Games every season...It's seems fair to me... I'm tired of seing #5 Vs #20 in the Fiesta bowl because the ACC *must* have a spot in there. and thus fuck everything up.

Guest Blackston Report post Posted July 27, 2003 As much as I hate to say it... you've got to look at Michigan for a birth in the Sugar Bowl. Their schedule is just too favorable. Their non-conference slate features home games against Central Michigan, Houston and Notre Dame, and a trip to Eugene, Oregon to play a weakened Duck squad. Their away games in-conference are to Michigan State, Minnesota, Iowa and Northwestern. The Wolverines play Purdue and Ohio State (two trendy picks to win the Big Ten) in the Big House, and they miss Penn State and Wisconsin all together. Everything is lining up for UM this year, and they would be my pick.... Unless Ohio State can get to November 22 undefeated. As to the other team that plays in the Sugar Bowl, I think that this is the year that Texas finally gets the Oklahoma monkey off of their back. If UT can get through the Red River Shootout unscathed, then I think that they should be able to get to their annual meeting with Texas A&M undefeated. There is just too much talent in Austin these days, and even the most inept of coaches cannot mess up what the Longhorns have going for them. If Chance Mock can fill in the shoes that Chris Simms is leaving behind, then the sky is the limit for UT.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 27, 2003 Michigan/Texas? ABC would CREAM for that game. If I recall those two teams after Norte Dame are the most popular NCCA Football Teams based on jersey and Hat sales...
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 27, 2003 If Minnesota really has one of their best teams in years. They should show some guts and beat Michigan at home. Michigan isn't 1983 Nebraska. Who are those teams between 10-20, who could suprise people. Since the BCS those have pretty much been the teams who have won the National Championship? One that comes to mind is Florida St. They have the talent. If everyone can get on the same page, they can return to Top 5 status, and be serious National champion contenders. The schedule is brutal, so it's going to tough for a team like FSU to go undefeated. Depsite not liking Texas. Part of me wants to see them win the Oklahoma game, the year after Simms graduates. I don't see it though. The first big game Mack Brown wins, will be his first.

Sorry, Verne, but I just don't think that the talent is going to be able to overcome the hellacious schedule this year. Trips to Notre Dame, Florida and Virginia will probably be the undoing of the Seminoles National Championship dreams. That said, if we are looking for dark horses to play in the national championship game this year, I would stay in the ACC. The winner of this years Virginia-North Carolina State game will be on the fast track to win the ACC this year, and I would give that team a decent chance of making it to New Orleans. Another team that I like the looks of would be Pittsburgh. Of course, the Panthers will have to get through their matchup with Miami. One thing in Pitt's favor would be that Miami might not be used to playing in the cold weather that you are going to find in Pittsburgh in late November. Should be an interesting year. I am eagerly anticipating the first game between California and Kansas State... Just a couple more weeks.
