What do you think is the best Sonic The Headhog game?

Personally, I feel that it is Sonic Adventure. One of the best games that I ever played. The graphics, the story, the control. I could do without Big The Cat in the game, but I love the other character's gameplay. The final battle between Super Sonic and Perfect Chaos is also easy and great. I also like Sonic Adventure 2 (with you having to play as the heroes and the villians was very creative), but I like Sonic Adventure the best.

I only love the Sonic parts in SA, hated the rest.

Overall I still like the first one the best. It was just so cool and different at the time, and I still play it once in a while. The music is awesome!

I thought it was Hedgehog.

Ah well, Sonic 1 for me.

Why's no one but me remember the Master System? Sonic was there first

Ignoring that spinny thing in Carnival Night Zone, Sonic 3 is my game.

Sonic Drift/Sonic Drift 2 for Game Gear looks extremely cool.

Anyone play it? It's rare.

I think I played it once on a friend's GameGear, but quickly dismissed it as a stupid Mario Kart clone and went back to the original.

Sonic 1

A great game that still holds up today.

To be fair though, I never played Sonic 3D or Sonic Adventure 2, so I can't say that Sonic 1 is better or worse than those.

The Sega Master System pre-dates the Genesis.

It was Sega's 8 bit system and was much better then the NES. But they didn't get games from other publishers (such as Capcom or Square everything was Sega) so that hurt it in the long run.

I've got one with a little over 50 games, including the uber-rare Phantasy Star

Youth, Youth, Youth--we ALL know this, but the fact remains that there was never a Sonic game for the Master System. He premiered with Sonic the Hedgehog on Genesis.

And I kinda own the game...so I'm quite sure it's out there :D

Yep, I have that. I have pretty much all of them except for shitty spinoffs like Sonic Shuffle and Sonic Labyrinth. I am probably the de facto Sonic mark on this board, as half my room is just filled with Sonic stuff.

Anyway, the Genesis version came out in early 91. The Mega Drive one came out about 10 months later. So no, Sonic was not there first, though he was there.

And my favorite in this poll is Sonic 3.

Shucks...they both came out in 91.

SMS never gets the credit it deserves anyway

Well color me 50% bamboozled. I guess we were both half-right, Youth.

And half right's better then half wrong

All the Sonics I played, I enjoyed except for Sonic Spinball.

Oh...back to the topic.

I really liked the first two genesis ones. I only played the DC one a few times, enjoyed it though

where the HELL is Sonic and Knuckles??? The "Lock-on-Technology" added much to the replay value. Since its not on there, i vote Sonic 3

I like Sonic 2 the best...

I remember getting Sonic 1 and loving it... but when Sonic 2 came out, I loved the spin dash, and I liked the zones more, with 2 stages each. IMO, 3 stages per zone was kind of a hassle. Can't forget the Casino Night Zone~!

You are missing the two best ones! Sonic CD is the best Sonic game, followed closely by Sonic & Knuckles.

Did anyone ever put non-Sonic cartridges onto that thing? I heard there's this bonus game or something.

From gamefaqs.com

Bonus game trick

Put a game other than Sonic 2 or 3 in the top of the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge. Then, when it shows the picture of the trio and the message at the top, press A, B, and C simultaneously to play Bonus Games.

Bah...gives no hints to what the game is though

My favorite is Sonic CD. So awesome.

BTW, Sonic 1 on the Master System = Sonic 1 on the Game Gear.

They also had Sonic 2 GG for the Master System:

and Sonic Chaos:

Although I think the last two were Europe-only.

It's the Sonic 3 special stage stuff (the annoying sphere maze).

i picked the original Sonic, i remember when i first played it i was like "holy crap it's too fast!!!". Sonic 3 is better but i enjoy this one more.

Sonic Adventure 2 for the DC is awesome, specially the super fast stages with Sonic or Shadow

I went with Sonic 2, only because Sonic CD wasn't an available option.

The serial # on the cartridge influences the level in the S & K bonus game.

Nowadays, Sonic Adventure definitely. SA 2 just didn't cut it for me.

Classic wise, I would have to Sonic 2. The debut of Tails and the ability for player 2 to play as him. The two player cooperation was fucking tight!
