Guest Karnage Report post Posted July 26, 2003 Well does anyone play it? It's a beautiful game and the story is great. I just beat the first one on Dreamcast and plan on buying II for XBOX.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted July 26, 2003 I have II for Xbox. It was the for game I bought for the system and picked it up for $17.99 (used). I never played the first one, but with II you get a DVD that is basically a real-time movie (scenes from the game) of the first one. I've played only some of II, so I'll refrain from my judgements for now.
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted July 27, 2003 I have both of them and love them. They're among my top 10 favorite games. I can see why people wouldn't like them though, they're definitely not for everyone.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 27, 2003 I loved it. I was hella pissed when I found out it wasn't coming out for the DC. But I'll know by tomorrow if I'm getting an XBox or not. And Shenmue II will be the 2nd game I'm buying if I do (after Buffy of course)
Guest TheArchiteck Report post Posted July 27, 2003 I have Shenmue on DC and LOVED it. It quickly became one of my favorite games.
Guest JaKyL25 Report post Posted July 27, 2003 I LOVED the concept back when I first heard about it, and basically got a Dreamcast just for a chance to play it... ...and I didn't like it. It was obviously a wonderfully crafted game, I just couldn't get into it. Oh well. I don't understand the appeal of MMORPGs either.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2003 The real-time aspects are what killed it for me, the fact that there are only certain things that you can do at a certain time of day... I have a friend who swore by it, though he would play it like 18 hours a day sometimes. I don;t have that kind of time.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 29, 2003 And it was a little annoying having to run all the way home when it got dark and there was no one left to talk to
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Why would you go home? You can just go to the arcade until 11:30 and then it will send you home automatically.
Guest Karnage Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Why would you go home? You can just go to the arcade until 11:30 and then it will send you home automatically. Or the bars...they only open at night.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 29, 2003 I was more into doing the story...I didn't find those parts entertaining enough to do that long. And it took me a while to find the bar (the one you have to take stairs down to)
Guest Karnage Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Some of the places people told you to go to didn't help the story at all, like Nagai Industries. And anyone notice Tom goes wherever you go? In Dobuita, you see him and when you go to the Harbour, he's there too.
