Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2003 The Mistress of Ass Kicking is back! I just got back from watching this movie and I didn't think it was that bad. Of course, it wasn't as "good" as the first one (I felt it didn't have enough action), but still. You would honestly rather watch Seabiscuit or Spy Kids 3 instead? What's wrong with you people? Yeah, I was little nitpicky about stuff in the movie like things were just a little too convinient how people were saved or how people showed up at just the right time. I'm glad they still had her butler and the computer guy, who are played by the same actors from the first movie. I would like to point out that she said that the Cradle of Life was "a weapon more powerful than you can ever imagine" Isn't that what she said about the Time Triangle from part 1? By the way, we got the lame copyright crap trailer, but we didn't get The Rundown trailer. I liked part 1 better, but the sequel isn't as god awful as everyone else makes it seem to be. By the way, why do they call it the Cradle of Life if it kills people? Look for Tomb Raider III to come out in 2005 The original Tomb Raider
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted July 27, 2003 You would honestly rather watch Seabiscuit or Spy Kids 3 instead? Seabiscuit, yes. Spy Kids, no. The first Tomb Raider was awful so I don't expect much from this. Since you said it wasn't as good as the first one, that is even more reason not to watch it. Guest Vyce Report post Posted July 27, 2003 Most reviews I've read for this have actually said that this is a better film than the first one (but that's not saying much, sez the critics). I don't know, I think I'd rather just download this or wait till it comes out to video stores.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted July 27, 2003 My better half loved the first one, and I thought it was so-so. She went to see the sequel this weekend, and I'm sure I'll be watching it on DVD when she buys it. And Rico you are correct on who the original "tomb raider" is... Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted July 28, 2003 The movie was laughable the entire time. Indy > Lara
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted July 28, 2003 So you liked it, Rico? Good, this helps keep my streak of "Not Seeing Movies Called Tomb Raider" alive. And if I was forced to watch one of the big three movies that opened this weekend, Tomb Raider would be at the bottom of that list. Spy Kids 3 probably sucked, but I'm sure the 3D effects would be distracting.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted July 28, 2003 Sometimes a chick simply looking hot isn't enough to make you pay $8 and sit through an entire movie. And frankly, Jolie is all Tomb Raider has going for it. Most reviews I've read said it was only slightly better than the first (and not the plot, mostly the cinematography) and Rico here thought it didn't even match up to the original. What's that tell you? The first Tomb Raider is still one of the few movies I'm ASHAMED to say I saw in the theater and when I left there, I didn't remember a damn thing about the movie itself and had a huge, aching headache. Either it was really friggin' bad or the theater put some sort of subliminal suggestions in it to keep people from walking out, since that's the only explanation I can think of that people would sit through the entire thing. Either way, I won't be seeing the second one, not even as a rental. In fact, if anyone else rents it, I'll likely remove myself from wherever it's playing. Can anyone else believe this woman has an Oscar? This definitely goes in the Marisa Tomei category.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 28, 2003 I believe that she has a Oscar because she is a good actress. She is just going in cruise control now. I don't know who picks her scripts, but I'm thinking it is the ones that come with the most money. I find myself amazed that the woman that gave those great performaces in Gia and Girl Interrupted is the same woman in Tomb Raider and ...uh...what ever that movie was with her and the bad blonde wig. Guest Prototype450 Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Life or Something like it. I've never seen the movie, I just have good memory...

I don't know who picks her scripts, but I'm thinking it is the ones that come with the most money. 27 movies in her career so far and in TWO of them she gives watchable performances. That's not a good record at all, no sir. She may be a "good" actress but by no means is she great.
