Survivor series 1998 rant

Vince comes out with his stooges and announces Mankind's mystery opponent,who turns out to be Dwayne Gill.

 

Dwayne Gill vs. Mankind.Mankind throws Gill into the ring and double-arm ddt and pins him with a fisherman's cradle.DUD.

 

Al Snow vs. Jeff Jarrett.Jarrett has his second or third unsuccessful gimmick.Jarrett has control in the beginning.Snow comes back with a flap jack on the ropes.Snow body slams Jarrett and misses a top rope legdrop.Jarrett's in control now.Debra distracts Tim White.Snow gets Jarrett's guitar and Jarrett gets head.Snow swings but Jarrett ducks.Jeff nails him with head and drags him into the corner.White sees the guitar and is moving it out of the ring with a confused look on his face.Jarrett misses a swing and Snow nails him with head for the pin.Decent match. * 1/2

 

Stone Cold vs. Big Bossman.Bossman gets a lot of heel heat.Stone Cold gets a huge pop.Austin has control in the beginning.He takes Bossman down with a Lou Thesz press.Bossman and Austin pretty much are brawling.Bossman has the advantage and does his rope thing(where he puts his opponents head between the ropes and runs and jumps).Bossman nails him with a punch to the throat.Huge "Bossman sucks" chants.Austin is up and takes him down with a clothesline.He whips him into the ropes but Bossman slides out of the ring and nails Austin with the nightstick.Austin wins by DQ.Bossman is still hitting Austin with the stick and decides to leave.3/4.

 

X-Pac vs. Stephen Regal.X-Pac gets a face pop of course because he's with face .The match is exciting on the beginning but slows down in the middle.Back and fourth.X-Pac goes for a Top rope spinning wheel kick but Regla pushes the ref into the ropes.X-pac is on the outside.Regla starts pounding him.X-pac reverses a suplex into a suplex of his own.Both men get counted out.Vince tells Slaughter to go out there and there will be a sudden death.Still both men get counted out.X-Pac's selling his neck injury.Regal leaves the ring.You'd like it if you are a fan of mat wrestling.I was pretty bored during the match.Good selling by X-Pac and good psychology by Regal.**

 

Ken Shamrock vs Goldust.Shamrock has the advantage most of the match.Shamrock counters a powerbomb into a 'bonzai' drop.Dusty kicks out and hits him with a clothesline.He goes for the shattered dreams,but the ref blocks it.Shamrock hits a 'rana,belly to belly suplex,ankle lock.Good bye,Dustin.Match was ok.* 1/4.

 

The Rock vs. HHH.Triple H isn't here,so Patterson gives the Big Bossman to Rock.Bossman runs down but Rocky reverses a spear(I don't know what the hell Bossman was trying to do)into a small package.Match was 4 seconds long.DUD.

 

Quarter Finals.

 

Austin recieves a BYE.

 

Undertaker vs. Kane.God,this match sucked.Not much to say.Kane chokeslams 'Taker.Fat Man distracts his 'son'.UT gives Kane the tombstone.It's about *.

 

Al Snow vs. Mankind.Snow gets some offense in the beginning.Mankind finds out that Mr.Socko is around Head.He starts beating on head.Snow gets the roll up and Mick kicks out at 2.Foley hits a clothesline.A double arm DDT follows up with the Claw.Snow taps out. **

 

Ken Shamrock vs. The Rock.Winner meets the Taker in the semi-finals.Shamrock gets the early beat down.Shamrock hits a 'rana on Rock.They battle outside.Shamrock whips the Rock viciously into the steps.Shamrock body slams the Rock on the outside.Rock comes back and whips Shamrock into the steel post.Rock grabs a bottle of soda.Drinks it and spits it into Ken's face.Back into the ring,Shamrock comes back with a clothesline and snaps.He puts Rock into his move,the Ankle Lock.Rock reaches the ropes.Shammy argues with the ref.Rock comes back with a Maivia Hurricanrana and nails the Peoples Elbow.Peoples Elbow gets two.Bossman comes down to the ringside.Rock goes for the Rock Bottom but Shamrock nails him with his elbow and executes a belly to belly suplex.Bossman distracts the ref and throws the stick but Rock is already up and intercepts.Rock nails Shamrock with it for the pin.Nice match ***.

 

 

 

Now I am not sure about what comes next.I am doing all from memory since I didn't watch the tape for a weeks now.

 

Jacqueline vs. Sable.Women's title match.Sable hits a TKO early in the match but Mero pulls her out.Sable nails Mero with a fore arm smash and powerbombs him on the outside.Jackie pulls Sable by the hair into the ring.Jackie hair tosses Sable a couple of times.She goes for a Tornado DDT but Sable throws her down on the mat.Sable bomb and she pins her in a porno-like pinfall.Sable is the new Women's champion.*

 

Semi-Finals.

 

Stone Cold vs. Mankind.Typical match.Austin gets a Stunner but the ref is knocked down.Shane runs in and counts to two but stops and gives Austin the double bird.Austin goes after him.Austin gives Mick another Stunner.The ref counts but Vince pulls him out.Austin gives Mick another Stunner.The Stooges interfere while the ref is still down.Brisco nails Austin with a chair.Mankind pins him.. *** 1/2

 

The Rock vs. Undertaker.Winner faces Mankind in the finals.Typical 'Taker match where Taker no-sells.Rock calls Paul Bearer a big fat piece of sh*t.Rock hits the Peoples Elbow on the 'Taker.UT kicks out.Bossman comes down but Taker hits him with his killer punch.Rock hits a clothesline on Taker.Rock talks trash to Taker.Taker grabs him by the throat.Kane runs down and Taker shoves Rock into Kane.Kane chokeslams him causing a DQ.After the match,Taker and Kane brawl in the crowd.*3/4

 

BTW,during the match,Bearer nailed the Rock with his shoe and JR said "If the heel won't get ya,the smell will".I found that pretty hilarious.

 

WWF Tag Team title match.NAO vs. Headbangers vs. D'lo Brown and Mizzark Henry.Nice double team work by the Headbangers.D'lo and Mosh double team Road Dogg.Road Dogg has been beaten up so bad,he didn't even get a offensive move after that.All three men are down.They make the tags to their partner.Billy Gunn cleans house.Billy pins Mosh with a piledriver. ** 1/2 for some nice double-team work.

 

Finals.

 

Mankind vs. The Rock.Rock has the advantage early in the match.Mick comes back and throws the Rock to the outside.Rock gets hit with a chair.Mankind gets the steel steps but Rock is up and snaps by hitting the steps with a chair.They go back to the ring.Foley again throws Rock to the outside.Foley puts Rocky on the table and leg drops him.Table doesn't break so he goe over to the Spanish announcers table.He puts Rock on the table but misses the elbow drop.Back in the ring,Rock hits a Peoples Elbow for two.Mick comes back with a double arm.Vince and Shane come down to ringside.Rock hits a Rock Bottom on a chair in the ring.He is too weak to make the cover.Rock puts Mick in the Sharpshooter.Vince tells the time-kepper to ring the fuckin' bell.Rock wins his first WWF title.****

 

They have a little speech after the match.Austin comes out.Stunns Rock and Foley.He throws the belt on Rock and stomps away at him.Austin leaves.

"Survivor Series '98" is a really brilliantly laid-out show with some of the shittiest wrestling I've ever paid to see.  I marked out like a man possessed when Rock won the title, though, so it's something of a sentimental favorite.

 

You need some work on grammar.  A lot, in fact.  Other than that, you're well on your way to becoming a second-rate Scott Keith knock-off.

Personally, I think the PPV sucks.  

 

You put forth some good effort, but need to get a few more rants under your belt before you find your own style.  It took me a few months to find my niche, but then I was able to churn them out with no difficulty at all.  I also think you rated the main event way too high, but to each his own.

I don't rreslly think it was a rant since you didn't complain much, but it was a great review. I liked the show.
