Guest Human Fly Report post Posted July 30, 2003 My only concern there is that, in hindsight, it might be another Paul O'Neill debacle. I'll never forget when that deal went down and we got Roberto Kelly I thought we got the better of the deal. So young, so foolish. My problem with Barry is that he just get's injured too much. He is injured almost as often as Griffey (just less serious injuries). I am grateful for all he has done for the organization, but I still haven't forgot how he seemingly held up the team a few years back demanding such a large deal. Granted Linder didn't have to give into his demands (and he shouldn't have) but we could have gotten some young players in that deal with the Mets, and Larkin would have gotten to play in another World Series. But instead he stuck around, got his ridiculous pay day, and the end result is what you see before you. Larkin could have gotten half of what he got (still being overpayed mind you) and we could have used the 4.5 to get some pitching.
