Shoot Interview feedback

The Freebirds- He, Sting, Missy Hyatt, and the Freebirds were riding in a van on the way back from a show. They all got out to take a piss and they had Missy go around the side of the van. He saw Michael PS Hayes and Buddy Roberts go around the van and then they heard screams, which was the two of them holding her down and pissing on them. Hayes would annoy people in the locker room and Buddy was disgusting in general, as he’d chew tobacco and make a tremendous mess and he would always carry around a small paper bag with his one change of clothes in it.

The Freebirds live up to their reps, Good Grief... and I think I'm bad when I'm drunk...

----

Working for Bill Watts- Watts was just like his dad so it wasn’t unusual for him. Watts may have intimidated a lot of guys but he learned a lot and respected him. He talks about how Watts would make you earn your living in the business, such as by showing the Ultimate Warrior how to kick by putting him on the ground and laying kicks into him. He says that the new wrestlers today wouldn’t stand for it and calls them “a bunch of pussies.”

I agree with him, can you imangine the uproar that would be caused if a locker room leader (ala Taker) stiffed the heck out of an up and comer? He'd be crucified by the IWC...

----

Ric Flair- He wasn’t much of a threat to Flair, so they got along. He got to know more about him over the years and know in particular Flair was against he and Scott Steiner coming back to WCW in 1996. “My brother hates his guts and wants to kill him.” Flair’s nice but he’s also a snake in the grass and has screwed a lot of people over during his career.

I for one can't wait for the epic Flair/Steiner RAW match now...

---

His first night in the WWF- They were there when Nailz beat the shit out of Vince McMahon. John Nord was watching the door to keep anyone from coming in. He thought that Vince was a businessman and somewhat sincere but, after working for him, you realize he is the Mr. McMahon character from TV these days.

So Nord helped Nailz? No wonder he disappeared so quickly in 1993...

well, rick steiner is a lot like paul orndorff... an old bitter asshole that just spout shit about no one being able to work or draw, despite the fact, in orndorff's case, that in the 80s you could have stuck tony atlas with hogan and he too could have drawn big, so it's pretty pointless.

Yo my brother.

I haven't really got anything constructive to say other than great job - I love your shoot reviews. You cut out a lot of the chaff while recapping the important stuff and keeping things fun, interesting and lively. In fact, having read your reviews, I really have no need to buy most of these shoots.

The only thing I can say is that I noticed a few errors (typos) on the Rick Steiner interview. Nothing major by any means (and hell, I;m the last one who should be pointing out typos), but here's one example:

He saw Michael PS Hayes and Buddy Roberts go around the van and then they heard screams, which was the two of them holding her down and pissing on them.

But aside from that, like I said, great job - you are one of the site's true assets.

I really liked the Steiner interview, and like I said before, Dames brought me over here, but your shoot interviews made me stay. I look forward to reading them every week. Keep them coming, and I cannot wait for the Cornette shoot. If there was ever someone in wrestling that had a take or an opinion, it was Jim Cornette.

I enjoy the shoot interviews more than anything on the site. I honestly enjoy the stories of them and I also like how some of the points are disputed as many of the workers are bitter old men.....

That's probably the greatest strength of your reviews - taking issue, pointing out important notes/events, or basically just expanding on important or contentious points expressed by the shootee.

Especially for... I hate to say marks... people who are accessing smart info for the first time, it really helps them get a greater knowledge of the business, while making sure people know all the facts. Someday when Hulk Hogan does his shoot (you know someone will offer enough money, and you know he'll take it because he's basically a whore), he'll be telling us about how he press-slammed the 8'9" Andre the Giant in front of 300,000 fans in the SilverDome brother, and without someone pointing out the potential inaccuracies of that statement, newer fans will just take it as lore.

Anyway, enough blowjobbing - good work all round.

while i have read every single article here at tsm, i think the shoot interview recaps are a real and unique contribution to the iwc that no one else can lay claim to. i know SK did a couple of half ass reviews of a couple of shoot interviews where he mainly focused on the matches contained within. and if anyone knows anything about the VQ on the shoot interviews, the matches really aren't worth your time.

when i approached teke about doing the shoot recaps, after reading his iron sheik recap, i had no idea that it would be the one can't miss column each week (besides your dvd reports, spree). even if the shoot sucks (and teke will tell you) you can still learn a great deal about current and extinct promotions, dead and living wrestlers, promoters, valets, managers and everything else.

Aww, that's what I like to hear. It's a total lie, but I like hearing it, nonetheless :->

only a lie because you were doing the dvd reports at thesmarks before, hence not completely original to tsm. so i clear myself there.

but talk to polk about my pimpage of your material. i dont have 30+ friggin word documents of dvd reports waiting to be researched once i start doing mad dvd collecting for nothing.

It's true. Will is a fan. But the more I think about it, it seems there's not too many folks on the site he's NOT a fan of. You, me, Teke, Tom, Loss...Will is on EVERYBODY's nuts. :D
