Most likely it was

"Thoughts without words" where it's a performence studio video

or

"Destroyer of senses" which is in a club/bar

..."I know there are some fans"... :bonk:

And the "Thoughts Without Words" video was filmed at the MetCafe in Providence, I believe. If not there, somewhere with an INSANELY similar stage set-up.

MY RECS (being the premier TSM Shadows Fall mark):

"Crushing Belial"

"Of One Blood" (if you don't want to sing-along to the chorus of this song, you have no soul)

"The First Noble Truth"

"To Ashes"

"Thoughts Without Words"

"Casting Shade" (a different side of Shadows Fall)

"Stepping Outside The Circle"

"The Art Of Balance"

"A Fire In Babylon"

I just rec'd 4 songs from each Century Media release. Check 'em, bitch.

I heard "Stepping Outside The Circle" on a Knuckletrax Sampler. I enjoyed it. I'm going to make use of this list aswell.

Thanks to CL's sig, I've been wondering about some good Shadows Fall songs, although didn't go out of my way to find any. Now I wish I had. I started on Of One Blood and now I am getting every song on that list, must... hear... more...

Actually, I'm one of the only defenders of "The Art Of Balance." I love that song, despite it having a similar format to "Fade To Black" (although, honestly, EVERY FUCKING POWER BALLAD HAS A SIMILAR FORMAT), and don't think it deserves 3/4 of the shit it gets.

Agent, I do have a feeling you'd prefer their pre-Of One Blood work. It's a lot more deathy. Still melodic, but definitely more death-y.

I like Melody more then just...noise.

They show they can sing...I like that...

I don't think it's neccesscary to SCREAM all the time...

S.F oughta do more Ballads anyways...Metalcore fans need to grow up and realize that singing ballads DOES NOT make you a pussy

Well, it is more pussified, that's not really debatable. Better or worse is where it gets subjective.

I've actually been meaning to check out their earlier material, but it's rather scarce here in the void.

That's why they bother me. There's not much departure from one to another. You can take, say..Fade to Black, This Love, Tout le Monde, Art of Balance, Cemetery Gates, etc, and note pretty easily that they're all based around that same formula. I dig it when notable exceptions stand out more, like Acid Bath's slow tracks, and "Seasons in the Abyss." Gets the point across perfectly while managing to steer clear of *clean chord picking, distortion, verse, chorus, verse, solo, fade out*

I've always thought the "show 'em you can sing" bit was pretty tired, since the heavy vocals should be enough to PROVE that, and if they're not, then it's a problem. Traditional singing isn't the only "good" kind. Besides, when half of the singers from various bands try to clear their throats and belt out a tune, it sounds like ass anyway, due to being obligated to put a ballad on a cd, thus changing from what's comfortable, and what sounds good anyway. If more metal bands would stick to doing what they do best, it would save everyone a lot of grief.

Just say no to mid-tempo metal ballads.
