IWA-MS King of the Deathmatch 2003

Recommended Posts

Guest Sandman9000

I know we have the Bloodx3 thread, but this deserves its own special thread and attention. It's that special.

http://lustmord.wiredhub.net/forums/upload...-1059338375.jpg for a graphic made up.

The first round matchups:

2 Tuff Tony vs. JC Bailey

Nick Gage vs. Dysfunction

Mean Mitch Page vs. Lowlife Louie

Balls Mahoney vs. Horace the Psychopath

Axl Rotten vs. Corporal Robinson

Necro Butcher vs. Mr. Insanity

Madman Pondo vs. Spyder Nate Webb

Ian Rotten vs. Messiah

My predictions for the KODM

2 Tuff Tony vs. JC Bailey

Tony hasn't done much with the IWA lately, and Bailey's been on a roll, so Bailey goes over here.

Nick Gage vs. Dysfunction

Both were added late, though Dysfunction was nearly last minute. Gage is new to IWA-MS, and a win over Dysfunction introduces him to the crowd.

Mean Mitch Page vs. Lowlife Louie

And now we enter trainwreck territory. If you want the stereotypical deathmatch workers, here you go. This should be god awful, hopefully it will end quickly. I don't care who wins, be perfect if neither did, but odds are Page will go over. Rollin' Hard might cost Page, but KODM loses tons of credibility if Louie wins a match.

Balls Mahoney vs. Horace the Psychopath

Horace was the last person added, and despite not really being known as a deathmatch worker, Balls is still a fairly big name. Horace goes out here.

Axl Rotten vs. Corporal Robinson

I'm surprised that a Rotten would go out this early, I figured both would last until night two. Anyway, this is Corp's year, and Axl isn't gonna stand in his way. This will probably be the bloodiest first round match.

Mr. Insanity vs. Necro Butcher

Insanity's a hell of a worker and a good talent, but Necro's returning to IWA after a lengthy absense and is the reigning KODM champion. No way he goes out in round one.

Madman Pondo vs. "Spyder" Nate Webb

A second round matchup this year, Webb went over Pondo after diving off of the rafters and putting Pondo through a barbed wire table and lighttube table. The rematch is first round this year, and despite deserving better, it looks like Nate's going to return the job and go out in the first round this year. I don't see Pondo jobbing in the first round. If this holds true, it means Nate lost in the first round of all three big deathmatch tournys this year. Poor bastard. Match also depends on how quickly Nate's arm heals from being powerbombed through a pane of glass in TOD2.

Ian Rotten vs. Messiah

Could surprise people, might be the surprise match of the first round, maybe the tourny. If the two of them wrestle more then mindlessly brawl, this could be a fun match. Despite being the CZW champ, you know both CZW guys aren't going to be moving on to the next round, and a Messiah/Hero or Messiah/Homicide match is insanely tempting. Ian advances.

My predictions for night two, rounds 2-4, going by my earlier shit.

JC Bailey vs. Nick Gage

Despite being introduced last night, Gage is still new to IWA, and Bailey's been getting a big push, along with the light heavy "belt." Bailey goes over.

Mitch Page vs. Balls Mahoney

Train wreck #2. Too bad Horace is def going out in the first round (he's booked somewhere else in Saturday, so is Dysfunction which def. means Gage is going over), since he's prob the best worker out of the other three fat guys he's paired with. More stabbing, bleeding, and brawling, with Balls going over.

Necro Butcher vs. Corporal Robinson

Should be complete insanity right off the bat. Corp goes over the 2002 KODM here.

Ian Rotten vs. Madman Pondo

Rematch from the semi in the MAW Hardcore Cup 2003. More complete insanity, with Ian coming out on top.

JC Bailey vs. Balls Mahoney

Balls has moved on far enough. Time for the new blood to come through.

Corporal Robinson vs. Ian Rotten

Corp's on a roll, and if these two also wrestle more then stab and bleed it could be decent. Ian owes Corp, so Corp goes over both Rottens and the 2002 KODM en route to the finals....

JC Bailey vs. Corporal Robinson

Either man could take it, but Corp's got the momentum behind him. Runner-up in the MAW Hardcore Cup (to Ian), has shown a technical side behind him, and has mark and smark support. Bailey could go over here and it wouldn't be a disapointment, but Corp deserves something for everything he's gone through. My pick for the finals gimmick is No Rope Barbed Wire 4 Corners of Pain Barefoot Deathmatch.

Non-tourny including Chris Hero vs. Homicide, Jimmy Jacobs vs. Jerry Lynn, and Mickie vs. Becky Bayless in Night One. Night Two has Jim Fannin vs. Bull Pain, as well as some combos of Hero, Homicide, Jacobs, Lynn, and those eliminated in Night One, such as Webb and Messiah.

Looking at the brackets, the bottom is WAY overloaded. Ian, Corp, Necro, Pondo, Webb, Messiah, and Axl in the bottom, with only Insanity being obvious for going out early. In the top, Bailey is the obvious choice to advance, with only Tony being a person who could credibly pull off a run. Gage won't, and the triad of suck (Balls, Page, Louie) will make life bad.

Still, show should be brutal, especially the bottom half on night two, and the non-tourny stuff, especially Hero/Homicide, should rock hard, and easily be worth the 30-35 that SMV will charge for it.

Ye thoughts?

2 Tuff Tony vs. JC Bailey

From the DVDVR reviews I've read of past KODMs, Tony can bring da noise, but Bailey is being pushed as their new star, so he goes over.

Nick Gage vs. Dysfunction

Dysfunction goes over Gage to prove IWA's superiority to CZW in front of the home crowd.

Mean Mitch Page vs. Lowlife Louie

Page, because Louie is the worst indy wrestler on earth (and I've seen A LOT of crappy indy wrestlers.)

Balls Mahoney vs. Horace the Psychopath

Balls, because of name value and Horace was last-minute. Too bad, because I hear Horace and Mondo tear it up in Minnesota.

Axl Rotten vs. Corporal Robinson

Agree with SM about Corp going far this year.

Necro Butcher vs. Mr. Insanity

Necro, because Mr. Insanity never wins and because this is Necro's "welcome back" to IWA.

Madman Pondo vs. Spyder Nate Webb

Better be Webb, because he's just like Jesus, but not in a sacriligeous way. Plus, I hate Pondo.

Ian Rotten vs. Messiah

No way Zandig allows him champion to be beaten by Ian Rotten. If this was a straight match or an ECW brawl it'd be great. As a deathmatch, well, Messiah hasn't done a full-on balls-out one in over a year and, from what I've seen of Rotten in CZW he sucks at them. Should be interesting to say the least, and structured right could be the highlight of the first round.

Bailey vs. Dysfunction

The Bailey push continues and I love it. He reminds me of me, except I have no piercings and don't staple dollar bills to my tongue.

Page vs. Balls

Balls, just so I can type the word "Balls" some more. Plus Balls is giving a big "rub" later on. Haha, balls, rub...it's 3:06 am

Necro vs. Corp

Necro is still in the doghouse, I'm thinking, and Corp's loyal and has gone far in the other DM tourneys, so I pick him.

Messiah vs. Webb

Ian has no problems jobbing Webb, and since I'm thinking an IWA vs. CZW final occurs here too, like in TOD, I'll go with Messiah.

Bailey vs. Balls

Balls learns ECW Hardcore is nothing compared to IWA Hardcore, and jobs hard. Balls, rub, hard, job, hehe...3:15 am now.

Messiah vs. Corp.

Tough choice, before the brackets I thought this would be the finals. I'll stick with my IWA vs. CZW prediction.

Messiah vs. Bailey

Bailey becomes a superstar here by taking out the CZW World Champ.

Tourney winner: JC Bailey.

Tony vs. Bailey: Bailey. If anyone's winning this, it's either Bailey or Nate. They've both gotten around the same type of push, and the win would make sense to cap off either's year.

Gage vs. Dysfunction: Gage. CZW's guys need to get at least one win in the enemy territory to establish themselves for when they lose. Plus, Dysfunction won't be there the next night.

Louie vs. Page: Page. Moving on....

Balls vs. Horace: Balls. Balls is the name, and Horace has another booking on the 2nd night.

Corp. vs. Axl: Corp., without a doubt. I don't think this is Corporal's year or anything, but he'll at least get this far.

Necro vs. Insanity: Necro, duh!

Pondo vs. Nate: Nate. It'd only make sense, unless Ian wants to stink up the tournament.

Ian vs. Messiah: Messiah. I can't see Ian putting himself over anymore if his locker room's as down in the dumps as Punk says they are. Plus, Zandick...I mean Zandig won't let his champ (I would say top guy, but everyone knows himself & Trent Acid are that.....note painful sarcasm) job in the first round of any tournament, if he has any power over it.

2nd Round:

Bailey/Gage: Bailey. Bailey's going to get the uber-push here, and this'll be the first sign of CZW crumbling outside their home....unless Nate is truly winning, and in this case, he'd be beating a CZW guy in the finals to continue the feud.

Page/Balls: Balls, just because Ian needs to get the money invested from the big name.

Corp/Necro: Necro, just because Necro/Nate is a match everyone needs to see...again.

Nate/Messiah: Nate, unless he's too hurt to work three matches. If Ian booked this smarter, he'd switch Gage & Messiah around, just so Messiah wouldn't have to job so early, and he'd go to the finals.

Semis:

Bailey/Balls: Bailey. He'll get the big-name rub going into the finals.

Nate/Necro: Nate, so he'll have the win over Necro, who's definately over as one of Ian's top guys.

Finals:

Bailey/Webb: This wouldn't make sense considering the CZW feud, but it'd probably be the best match. My heart says Webb, but my head says Bailey. It's a toss-up.

2 Tuff Tony vs. JC Bailey

I think EVERYONE is betting money that JC Bailey is going over here.

Nick Gage vs. Dysfunction

Nick Gage. CZW guys have to win a "couple" matches and Dysfunction is booked Saturday so its a no brainer.

Mean Mitch Page vs. Lowlife Louie

*ugh* Mean Mitch Page in under 5 minutes in a squash where Low Life is bleeding like a pig. Please.

Balls Mahoney vs. Horace the Psychopath

Balls Mahoney here because Horace was last minute and Balls is the name. And his entrance music owns everyone.

Axl Rotten vs. Corporal Robinson

Corp is going on in one of the best matches of the first round.

Necro Butcher vs. Mr. Insanity

This match will also kick ass. Necro will be going on here. I'm a fan of Mr. Insanity, but more of a fan of Necro.

Madman Pondo vs. Spyder Nate Webb

For the love of god, if Spyder is healthy enough LET HIM GO ON. But on that fact, I predict Mad Man is going on.

Ian Rotten vs. Messiah

The first round match where no one knows the outcome for sure. Did Zandig make sure his champ doesn't job out first round? I'm guessing Ian is giving Messiah the rub, or at least Messiah wins with CZW help from Zandig or something. Because there is no way Zandig is having HIS champ lose opening round in a 16 man tourney. This match makes sense because its the owner vs. the feuding promotions champ. This match will be the best of the opening round and I'll say Messiah by interference. Ian has won the IWA KOTDM before, he won the MAW Hardcore Cup this year, and he was a finalist in CZW's TOD2, so I'm guessing he's backing down here. People have to take in the fact that Ian wrestled 3 deathmatches lsat weekend and thats going to affect him from going far here. Hence why Mondo backed out here. After that spot in his amtch with Zandig...I have no idea how he managed to wrestle..

QUARTERS

JC Bailey vs. Nick Gage

Bye Bye Nick, is JC Bailey's time.

Mitch Page vs. Balls Mahoney

*ugh* worst of the round of 8. Balls wins

Corp vs. Butcher

Hells yes, this is going to be sick. Butcher won it in 2002, so I think Corp is going over him here.

Mad Man Pondo vs. Messiah

I'd say Messiah goes on here. And I have to say, if nate beats Pondo, Webb vs. Messiah would rule.

SEMIS

JC Bailey vs. Balls Mahoney

Apparently JC Bailey has bigger balls because he's going on.

Corp vs. Messiah

I'm not too sure about this one. For storyline purposes I'd say Messiah. This one could go either way, but honestly, JC Bailey is going to beat whoever wins this match. I'll go with Storylines and say Messiah.

FINALS

JC Bailey vs. Messiah

JC Bailey wins, IWA rejoices. But wh is the most hardcore promotion? Nick Mondo of CZW won the TOD! JC Bailey of IWA won the IWA KOTDM! Is this settled? I don't think so!!

Seroiously though, I hope the IWA s. CZW feud goes well into the year because this can produce the best COD ever. Zandig vs. Ian in the COD would be an excellent way to cap off their feud. The talent swaps would be good and this feud would be a lot better executed than the failed CZW vs. Wildside of last year. At least CZW is trying new things with different promotions as is IWA (XPW) and they've clicked together. Both of these promotions have DM workers and good workers. (Unfortunetly CM Punk hates CZW...)

Weird first round there. Messiah v. Rotten? I thought HI-V was working with IWA?

I'm sensing some sort of a screwjob there.

HI-V is not with CZW or IWA, they're sitting on the fence. I can see Zandig helping Messiah in his hatred for rotten.

Lowlife Louie's out of the tournament, as he has scheduling problems (can't get out of work). Deranged, from the IWA-MS 2001 KODM (he puked during his first round match) and the E8 will be taking his spot versus Mitch Page. Either way, Page will advance, though the match should suck significantly less without Louie in there.

Let's throw some stips into this motherfucker.

IAN ROTTEN vs. MESSIAH - East Coast Thumbtack Death Match

CORPORAL ROBINSON vs. AXL ROTTEN - Fans Bring The Weapons

JC BAILEY vs. 2 TUFF TONY - Barbed Wire Tables & Electrified Light Tubes

BALLS MAHONEY vs. HORACE THE PSYCHOPATH - Barbed Wire Baseball Bat & Barbed Wire Boards

THE NECRO BUTCHER vs. "MR. INSANITY" TOBY KLEIN - Fans Bring The Weapons

DYSFUNCTION vs. NICK GAGE - Four Corners of Pain

"MEAN" MITCH PAGE vs. DERANGED - Taipei Death Match

MAD MAN PONDO vs. "SPYDER" NATE WEBB - High Impact Tables Match

(High Impact Tables Match is that you can only attempt a pin after tossing an opponent off a balcony through a table, or jumping off the balcony. Fly Spyder fly.)

I won't do predictions for everyone, but I'll just say Corp. over Bailey in the finals.

Stips look ok. I'm glad they dumped the staple gun related matches (assuming they don't show up in the later rounds). I just wish they'd quit the Taipei Glass Death matches--I don't think I've ever seen a good version of that match.

I am unaware of the east coast thumbtack match, but for the other two..

Four Corners of Pain Match

pretty self explanitory. There is a deathmatch weapon in each corner. Popular items include tacks, light tubes, mouse traps, staple guns etc.

Tapei Deathmatch is where the opponents has broken glass taped or glued onto their fists and sometimes the firsts are taped up. Very bloody but usualy bad matches.

East Coast Thumbtack Match: Bunch of people are coming over from the east coast on a bus. They're bringing a bunch of thumbtacks with them. Those thumbtacks will be used in Messiah vs. Ian.

Ok, now it's Rollin' Hard replacing Lowlife Louie in the KODM, vs. Mitch Page in the first round, not Deranged. We've gone from fat bastard to fat bastard to fat bastard.

However, Rollin' and Mitch have been feuding since their Mean & Hard tag team broke up, and I believe they had a chain match vs. each other at The Revolution show (strong style tourny). So, this doesn't guarantee that Page will advance. Either way, winner loses to Balls, so whoop de damn do. Go Corp.
