Here's my log of the event: This wasn't what I would call my best day: Highlight Of The Day: I WON THE MATCH OF THE MILLENIUM Low Point Of The Day: Last place in Soul Calibur 2 Line Of The Day: "WAI TRAN! DISSSSSSQUALIFIIIIIIED!" As usual I got pretty much no sleep before the tournament. I don't know what it is with me and tournies. I used to think it was nerves but I've been in so many of them and yet I still don't sleep well. Anyway, Steve tells me that he's getting a ride with Josh so I don't have to pick him up. Thus I'm left driving alone to T4. I got there pretty early and even managed to get a win streak with B Team (Yuri/Terry/Vega(2)) before losing by a hair to um... some guy from downtown (I think). I figured now was as good a time as any to start sign ups for Soul Calibur II (when did I volunteer for that assignment anyway?) and it went pretty smoothly outside of waiting for the Cleveland players to show up. SOUL CALIBUR II Vs Junior (1st Round): I have absolutely no idea who anybody is that plays SCII and don't know what to expect. Of course the same can be said for me as well. I took the first game using Taki's insane speed vs Junior's Nightmare. Second match, me of all people fall for throw after throw after throw and blow the second match. The third match was INSANITY and I had it locked up until I got too close looking for a throw (figures) and got nailed with a big slash. SOOOOO CLOSE! Junior and I were both smiles after that one though as it was an awesome match and probably the tightest SCII match I've ever played. Vs Barry (1st Round - Losers Bracket): This felt a lot like the match against Junior. I took the first match using Taki against his Maxi. I came within an eyelash of taking the second match but I was stupid and fell for dumb combos. Third match I apparently had my brain temporarily removed and choose Maxi (WHAT THE FUCK WAS I THINKING?). Of course I get FUCKING PULVERIZED and that's the end of Soul Calibur II. Now we move onto the game I actually came for: CAPCOM vs SNK 2 Vs Kin (1st Round): MATCH OF THE MILLENIUM! Well... not really. It didn't live up to the hype. Kin had a horrible time executing moves and I played the MOST FUCKING SAD GAME EVER basically refusing to take any risks whatsoever and picking away at him. I'll admit it was effective but God it was shit to play and it was probably even more shit to watch. Bottom line is that I won THE MATCH OF THE MILLENIUM taking two straight and now move on to the next challenge vs Dennis. Vs Roger (2nd Round): "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING?!" Those were the exact words out of my mouth when Nassim tells me "you beat Kin? You've got Roger next." OH COME ON! Apparently it wasn't good enough I feel pressure from the get go, now I have to face the top guy in Toronto. Anyway, this went pretty much as you would expect with Roger dismantling me and doing so in such a fashion that I could see he wasn't going full bore but it wasn't overly insulting. He was gracious enough to tell me I played well and I appreciate it but I knew I had no chance and dropped two straight. Vs Jason Rivera (2nd Round - Losers Bracket): If I recall correctly, Jason came up from Cleveland. He entered Soul Calibur II but was taken down by Steve Lawson (BRAMPTON REPRESENT!). Either he's not very good at CvS2 or he didn't adjust to the sticks very well because I dismantled him. First game I fell for outright stupidity like roll throw and roll Tiger Uppercut but still managed to keep him contained. Second match I WAS PISSED with the way I played and made zero mistakes as I OCV'd him with relative ease. Vs Ron (3rd Round - Losers Bracket): Ron is one of the players from Philly. I sadly had never heard of him before. He was a pretty nice guy. Anyway, he takes R4 Blanka (WTF?) to start and it's tough but I pull it out with C.U.R.T. system and some timely cross ups. Second game he takes Cammy/Blanka(3) and It was UUUUUUGLYYYYYYY! My Vega shredded him to bits and I got my second OCV today. Vs Jason (4th Round - Losers Bracket): AWWWWW FUCK! Why among nearly 50 players do I have to play someone from Brampton? I admit to being a little more confident than I should have been going into this one as I take more matches from Jay that he takes from me at BCC. Anyway, the first match was tight but his Cammy did a ton of damage and I couldn't recover. Second game Byrin chimes in with "put Kim first and Vega in the back." Alright then. It works like a charm as Kim tore into his Cammy and Blanka. Guile was useless and Vega cleaned up no problem. Third match was SOOOOO TIGHT! His Cammy does damage but my Guile makes the comeback. Then his Blanka shreds him and I'm in big trouble. Vega stabs him to bits and pieces and then it's down to my Vega vs his Sagat. It got down to nearly no health then Jason throws a completly random Super and I stand there like an idiot instead of throwing Claw Super. He throws me and the time runs out before I can go back on offense. And that ends my play for Day 1. I'm still undecided as to whether I'm coming tomorrow. I want to join Tekken 4 and see if I can get two decent C-Groove partners for the CvS2 Team Tournament but I'm pretty drained right now and it's not looking likely. Either way I had a good time today though I wish I could have gone at least one or two more rounds (why I didn't Claw Super I'll never know) in both games I played today. Highlights: Having to buy a Hello Kitty clipboard for SCII. Heart attack after losing SCII prize money (it was on the floor for like 1/2 hour). Winning $5 from Eric and $2 from ROC as they bet on Kin. SICK JUGGLES IN SC2! Curry Chicken Vomit. The look on the janitors face after I threw out Curry Chicken Vomit. JOSH WONG IS A FUCKING BEAST! Jason somehow never spends any tokens. Some jerkoff from Philly stealing my stool just because I taped his buddy losing to Pete. Second heart attack after leaving my wallet beside a comp for 2 hours and not realizing it. GG's to everyone I played. It was a lot of fun and far better than VF last year.
