Kane?

Recommended Posts

Guest

I know many around the boards find Kane boring, but he still has that loyal following, me included.  Do you think that now its just him versus the nWo and UT that he can become a bigtime main event face and be successful?

Personally i think he can.  he still has fans and a lot of power that can get him over.

Personally, I find Kane very slow and unappealing, and wathcing anything between him and Nash would be like drinking glass, but.... with the direction they seem to be taking the RAW brand, I'm sure he will main event, whether he can carry it off or not depends on whether he can reach anything like his best levels of work, lke a couple of years ago. I still don't want to watch him though.

I think he should be dumped down to OVW to lose weight and learn how to sell (I know the spiel, "His gimmick is to no sell everything") but when he has attempted it he has sucked for the most part.

Kane could have been a maineventer in 98 but they pilled him back down and now I can't see a guy who is a total gimmick being a top star.

As funny as the smackdown promo was, if kane's to make it as a high end face, he needs to be serious almost constantly, he needs to be able to cut an intense promo, which can be hard behind a hood

Kane's gimick only works in small doses, or it doesn't work at all. Anytime he has attempted an actual storyline with his character or tried to feud at a main event levle, he is quickly exposed and the fans turn on the idea right away. That's why his pushes always revolve around a) leaching off of Undertaker's heat (which no longer exhists) or b) fighting other big men. Yes, that does allow them to just stick him in there with Nash (which they probably will do) but the result will be so horrifying that I doubt he'll be able to sustain any crowd heat at all. I seriously do have to side with Scott's idea that Vince is purposely sabotaging Flair's show by giving him almost nothing but dead weight to wrestle on Raw.

kanes rather muscular, one of the better big men on the roster, i really don't see where he could drop 20 pounds...

and I think he sells decent for a 330 pounder... what do you want guys want out of him... a sky twister press or something...

he's 6"10, he's as imtimadating as hell when needs be, and he can bump awesome for a big guy, and pretty good for a normal sized guy...

Put him on some Stacker 2, give him a decent push, and let him show some personality like he did on Smackdown.  If the WWF does that, he can be at least a stop-gap solution to the main event scene in the near future.  In the long term, though, I doubt that he is going to be a main eventer for any significant length of time.

He needs to lose some weight. He has really bulked up in the last couple of years. Go back and watch a match of his from a few years ago and he was in much better shape and had alot more speed. If he is going to be a main eventer, they need to cut a mouth piece in his mask to let him talk.

I believe if you take that with physical activity you'll have a problem

As for mainevent I think he'd be great. He's needing his time in the top...

Kane needs to lose the mask. Of course his gimmick is that he was burned but they could say he healed somehow.

There are a few ways to lose the mask:

1. the kayfabed "he got plastic surgery"

2. "he was faking the burns"

3. The non-kayfabed version: "My God, it was an ANGLE people.  He looks perfectly fine."

#1 or #3 may be the better choices because at least one dumb mark I've talked to while waiting to enter RAW (an older lady, NOT a kid) was convinced he had surgery on his throat because he was talking better than he used to.

At this point I think they could phase the mask out (by cutting a chunk off every couple of weeks) and nobody would notice if the WWF didn't mention it like it was strange or anything.  I mean, he was originally supposed to have full body scars except on his left arm, now he has both arms exposed and (ugh) see-thru mesh on his...uh...shirt?

Kane won't ever be a good main eventer, no matter how hard they push him.

I'm a pretty big Kane fan. I think with the right push, he can be a major babyface. Just look at his IC title run and his return right before KOTR 2000, and you can tell the fans where behind him. Ture, both times he was against Triple H, but it takes two to tango baby. I still say Kane vs. Triple H should have main evented KOTR 2000, would have been better than that horrid 6 man. Though, the 6 man wasn't that bad but....for the title?!? come on!

That's just my cute way of saying "he needs to lose about 10 pounds or so" since he was one of the main guys pushing Stacker this time last year.

Kane is very much like Sid.  The quality of the match depends on their opponent.  For example, Michaels could pull a great match out of Sid (Survivor Series 96), but the Undertaker couldn't (Maina XIII).  Kurt Angle could pull a great match out of Kane (SmackDown), but HHH can't (Judgment Day 01).

Kane: UNDERTAKER! You..hurt...Sean..You hurt me...Now I'm going to hurt you!

Crowd: What the hell was that?

If they make Kane as he was when he first entered the WWf, an unstoppable heel with a mouthpiece, then it would work.  Mainly a wrestler who was hard to stop, kept coming at you and could take a lot of punishment.  Imagine him with Paul Heyman or Sinister Minister!!!

They've already got Brock Lesnar to fill that role.  Kane's more of an unstoppable monster with a heart of gold.

I don't dislike Kane....he's okay in my book.

But I'd only regard him as a midcard player.  Nothing more.  Occasionally, a main event here or there.  But that's it.

My wife is a huge Kane fan. She is also a mark. I asked her what she thought and found her response to be too cute not to share with the rest of the board. Keep in mind that english is not her primary language (she is dutch) and that she was traumatized as a child and has the mind of a twelve year old at times. Here is her reply, typed out verbatim:

"Yes he can. He is strong enough and he can walk all over everybody, just like he did in the past. They have just put him on a losing streak in their stupid script (she hears about the 'stupid script' from me). That roons his image."

Absolutely priceless.
