Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted July 31, 2003 Kind of a Cuban influence at some points, but for the most part, Cape Coral is a cultural melting-pot, so there's a bit of everything.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted July 31, 2003 I have a good friend in Cinci and I'm amazed at everything you can get chili on and it seems like there's a chili joint on every corner. You could probably get chili on ice cream down there if so inclined. I live in Zanesville currently, and we're all about the fast food. Maple Avenue used to be in the Guiness Book of World Records for the street with the most fast food joints on it. Don't know if it still is. I used to live in Pittsburgh and, of course, they are the home of the pierogi.

Guest KanadianKrusty Report post Posted July 31, 2003 IN Quebec City it's nothing special but in the surrounding rural areas: Duck, goose, deer, moose, woodcock often replace beef and chicken , of course we have to hunt it ourselves but it's worth it. We cook these with potatoes and a bunch of other vegetables and that's about it, traditional Quebec cuisine is VERY rustic.

Guest starvenger Report post Posted July 31, 2003 Here in Cincinnati, Chili and the Cheese Coney's are the greatest in the world... What's the big food deal in your region? I think Cinci created the Chili Mac, which is both vile and very tasty at the same time. Since I live in Tejas now, they'd lay claim to really big dishes, but aside from that there'd be: Chili, Tex-Mex (duh), and steak. Toronto isn't known for much, but I'd venture that Cantonese food is close to a signature dish. Is there such a thing as a Toronto Dog?

Guest razazteca Report post Posted August 1, 2003 Whenever there is a fundraiser for schools or at the local lil league or highschool concession stand you will find it. Maybe its a Southwest thing. And the official Cook Out/BBQ is mesquite smoked brisket, beef fajitas, sausage. Taquitos around here that are sold from taco trucks are served with sour cream and cabbage on top. These are the small corn rolled ones. Breakfast burritos rule, especially potato & egg.
Guest stardust Report post Posted August 1, 2003 Brisket. Oh, jesus. I have a friend who just recently moved down here from Rhode Island, and he had no idea what brisket was, so of course we had to introduce him to that particular delicacy.

Guest Mad the Swine Report post Posted August 1, 2003 Extreme South Georgia: Barbecue: we prefer our meat to be pork. Grits: plain or cheese. Boiled peanuts Fried fish is also pretty good. Catfish, trout, bream, bass, and perch are the favorites.
Guest stardust Report post Posted August 1, 2003 It's this big slab of beef that you either put on the grill or broil in the oven. Mind you, there is definitely an art to cooking brisket, considering if you do it incorrectly, it will come out quite tough and not tender at all. I think it comes from the hind quarter of the cow, but don't take my word for that 100%. Once cooked, it's cut into slices and normally eaten with barbeque sauce (homemade, of course). Leftovers are normally used for sandwiches. Oh, and it can also be chopped and like drenched in barbeque sauce, but sliced is much better, IMO.

Guest ToddRoyal Report post Posted August 1, 2003 Um, I live in Maine. We eat Moose up here. Oh, and Lobster. A butload of cheap lobster. Lots of seafood in general actually. Clams, Shrimp, Steamers. Summer time is all about Fried Dough up here. You can get that damn stuff with sugar, fruit or madeup like a pizza, which I'm pretty sure is the most unhealthy thing ever. My state has horrible food...
