So here's what I've discovered. EWR 4.0 - the final version of Extreme Warfare Revenge - releases tomorrow -- that's Friday, August 1st. However, it'll be on this site instead:

That's the other piece of news. EWR creator Adam Ryland has formed a partnership with .400 Software Studios and will be using their resources to develop a new Extreme Warfare game -- Total Extreme Warfare. This game will be released in the first quarter of 2004 and, unfortunately, will not be a free game, carrying a price tag of $34.99. However, EWR 4.0 will remain a free game.

I downloaded 4.0, but I doubt I'll ever play it. I love the *idea* of all the variables, the business model, the gimmicks, and everything else...but playing it is just too tough. 1.0 was easy because there were so few frills that, for all its flaws, I could just sit down, book a few shows in an hour, and have a good time of it. There's so much micromanagement in this that I might go insane.

 

Still...tempting.
