Daredevil DVD

So, I just picked up the Daredevil DVD, and I could tell from the behind-the-scenes stuff that there were a bunch of scenes and subplots cut out of the final version. Now, there were rumors of this release being an R-rated directors cut, but obviously it didn't come to pass. So my question to you: how long do you think till they release an extended addition?

It's already 2 disks as it is. You think there will be a better one? Spiderman was a weak 2 disk set.

There's supposed to be this whole subplot where Matt tries to prove that Coolio is not guilty or something. But they didn't include it on this DVD so it could happen.

here's what the director of Daredevil said at Superherohype.com:

“...I'm sitting on the mixing stage right now, finishing the Director's Cut. It's 35 minutes of additional footage (nearly 1/3 of the theatrical running time). Thank God for DVD. It will be up to you to decide if it's indeed better or not, but rest assured it's a very different version of the movie. No release date is set yet, they may wait and use it to kick off the Elektra movie. But know that it is definitely being done and it will indeed include everything that was cut from the theatrical release. There is the murder case that Matt and Foggy take, lots of courtroom drama, Matt's own investigation into the case, heaps 'o violence, and the Kingpin gets to show why he's such a bad ass. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long...”

"Glad to hear everybody digs the DVD. John Medford and the guys at Sparkhill did a great job. I'm really happy that all the creators and artists who gave the devil his due finally got theirs. The Director's Cut has no release date as of yet but will definitely be released and will either be rated R or Unrated. It's not only interesting to see what's added (which is over 30 minutes of story) but what has been deleted as well (i.e. no love scene, no confessionals--both for very good reasons which you'll see). You'll all have to let me know what you think in the end. Also, I think everyone knows about the Easter Egg on the DVD (blooper reel) but nobody has mentioned the little tag after the Hell's Kitchen documentary. Check it out--10 seconds into the credits. DD does the superhero bit and gets electrocuted for his troubles!"

i'm still gonna get this DVD as it is a great DVD and it's packed. Maybe if a better version does come out i sell this one or something.

This pisses me off when companies do that. They'll put out a DVD, knowing full well they didn't include nor give you everything they could have. Why put out a disc when you know you are currently working on a special edition in progress? The next 20th Century Fox executive I see walking down the street, I'm just gonna set his thieving, lying ass on fire, piss and dance on his ashes. Fuck. As it is, I didn't buy X-Men 1.5, so I won't buy a Daredevil 1.5, either. Soon fans are gonna start catching on and not buying the first release AT ALL. Except for you die hard geeks that HAVE TO HAVE SOMETHING as soon as its released (ie LOTR DVDs) and make it possible for the rest of the world to get double-dipped. You give the studios no incentive whatsoever to stop. Because of 'net nerds and the like, the rest of us have to pay. It's just like life: the rest of us suffer and have good things taken away because of what the DUMBEST motherfucker might do.

Another funny thing- you get a $5.00 rebate coupon in Daredevil for X-Men 1.5, which had a free ticket to Daredevil included with it. Makes your head spin, huh?

The main issue with this DVD is that the two versions will get different ratings by the MPAA. It doesn't mean anything to us 23 year olds, but Fox wants the money that the teenies bring in. Personally, I don't think the cuts should have been made in the first place. Studios should release the film that the director intended. That's why you hire directors in the first place.

the first time i saw it was at a friend's house and it was a cheap VCD and i thought the movie was total crap.

I saw it later in theater but i didn't want to, but ended up enjoying it, the music and atmosphere and everything was great. I'll never watch movies again in cheap VCD quality, ruins a movie imo.
