Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted August 2, 2003 Minnesota defensive tackle Chris Hovan arrived at Vikings' training camp in Mankato, Minn., this week with a few new additions: two new tattoos and a Brett Favre jersey in his locker. For a guy who was relatively unknown until he tried to mix it up with Favre, Hovan sure had a lot to say to reporters. "A lot of people are going to say bad things about me, but I'll take an insult from a Hall of Famer anytime," Hovan said, referring to his shouting match with Favre last during the Packers victory over the Vikings last November. "I don't know, he might be going through a mid-life crisis or something," Hovan said of Favre. Hovan hung a Favre jersey in his cubicle in the Vikings practice facility. "I think it's a great motivational tool," Hovan said of the No. 4 jersey. "He's a Hall of Famer. Look at me, man, I've got long hair and tattoos, but I love me and that's all that matters." As for Favre, don't expect to see Hovan's jersey anywhere near the Packers' lockerrom. Favre won't be looking to the Vikings defense line for any motivation. "I didn't put up anything in my house, my wife wouldn't let me," Favre joked. "Like I said before, Hovan's a great player, I'd love to have him on my team, but he needs to get a life and have some kids and get a life outside of football. Five, six years from now he'll say 'What an idiot I was,'" Favre said. Hovan would be hard-pressed to disagree. "The guy calls me an idiot - yeah, I'm an idiot," Hovan said. "I don't need Brett Favre to tell me that." Credit: Laura Veras Marran - PackerReport.com August 1, 2003 at 12:27am ET I couldn't agree more, Brett. Some of these d-linemen with "attitude" (like Randle, Hovan and Sapp) really need to get a life.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted August 2, 2003 Actually, Sapp and Favre have a somewhat "good" relationship.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2003 Yeah, Sapp and Favre respect each other, though Sapp will try and take his head off on every play. And we all know what Brett will do for his buddies on other teams... ::coughstrahanssackrecordcoughcough::
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted August 3, 2003 He would have gotten the sack record anyways, and everyone knows that. It's ironic the last time the sack record was achieved, it was also against my beloved Packers. Though they actually earned it ;-)
NYU 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2003 He would have gotten the sack record anyways, and everyone knows that. It's ironic the last time the sack record was achieved, it was also against my beloved Packers. Though they actually earned it ;-) If I'm not mistaken, wasn't that Giants/Packers game during the last week of the season? Strahan was desperately trying to break the record, but it didn't like he was going to against the Packs....until, of course, Favre took a dive. And if I remember correctly, that wasn't even the worst part of the sack record being broken. After the sack, Strahan started screaming and celebrating, and going crazy.....over a fake achievement that was just handed to him. I just remember that being pretty disgusting. Favre is definitely a Hall of Fame quarterback but at certain times, like this, the man could be quite shady (Unlike Chad Pennington - the QB of the future ! - Had to get that in)
Guest T_Hunt Report post Posted August 4, 2003 You all better watch out for Hovan. He will be a pro bowl caliber player this year. All the Vikings defense is going to be great. Claiborne, Biekert, Chavous, Denard Walker. Man i am very excited.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted August 4, 2003 The same Denard Walker who wasn't even a starter on one of the worst secondary's in the league?

His teammates and coaches were jumping up and down celebrating his achievement - Strahan was crumpled on the ground crying with Favre in his grasp.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted August 4, 2003 Maybe it's just me but I found that article to be HI-FUCKING-LARIOUS. I loved the Mid-Life Crisis Line...
Guest T_Hunt Report post Posted August 4, 2003 Yes that Denard Walker smart ass. Go ahead and doubt these vikings but when playoff time comes around, you will see a brand new North Division champion, and its the Minnesota Vikings

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted August 4, 2003 Well if we go back to my football predictions, the closest team to being able to be NFC North Champs is the Vikings...right after the Packers though. Where else in the NFL can you almost expect to at LEAST split the series since you win practically every game at home? Until the Pack has a TERRIBLE injury rash or coaching problem (2000-2001) they'll keep winning.... One day we'll have a low injury season!! I SWEARS~!!!
