T3 hung on and made a respectable amount in the US. Of course it deserved to make more then Matrix Reloaded but... that's okay.

Gigli got low BO because of the bad press...

If Jersey Girl gets good reviews...then he is fine.

i have a feeling that 'jersey girl' will suck anyway, so it doesn't really matter to me.

Dag, yo. Only about 10, 15% drop for Pirates. This movie is my hero.

Jersey Girl is going to bomb by default because people won't think "Hey, it's a Kevin Smith movie", they'll think "Hey, it's starring J-Lo and Ben."

Jersey Girl will probably bomb no matter what.

It's been all downhill since "Clerks". Talk about the law of diminishing returns.

Everybody shut up.

NOBODY knows for sure that Jersey Girl will bomb.

Wait until that weekend in Feb to say that.

I thought Terminator 3 and Matrix Reloaded were both great movies but I liked Matrix a wee bit more.

I saw both Matrix Reloaded and T3 and thought T3 was easily the better movie. Matrix just had the hype, while T3 was a movie no one had very high expectations for.

And yes, Kevin Smith is screwed.

Seabiscuit didn't experience much of a drop in its second week.

Matrix sucked.

I'm convinced that everyone who likes it has been brainwashed into thinking that they are supposed to.

Or they just saw the movie and thought it was awesome.

I didn't read one review of the movie and didn't have any idea what to expect. I was completely blown away and thought it was a terrific movie.

Not all of us like a movie because its popular.

Hell I HATED Independence Day.

I second the hatred of ID4.

I even hated it back when I was actually into big budget blockbusters.

I hate the Matrix movies.

I can't much explain it...I just hate them.

And I have high hopes for "Jersey Girl" ...i'm such a KSmith mark that he could make a two hour movie about shit on a barroom floor and i'd be first in line to see it.

I cannot believe Bad Boys 2 is still making money! It is the worst action movie of the summer, yet it still makes more than 10 million a week.

SWAT will be #1 next week.

Two questions from my lazy ass:

1. In comparison to the first two AP movies, how did American Wedding fare?

2. What the the total production cost on Gigli?

Tidbits I recall from the AP report for this weekend:

1. Made about 15 million more than the original's opening weekend, but fell short of 2, which opened somewhere past $40 million.

2. $54 million, though I'm not sure if that includes marketing and advertising. Doubting it. Yeowch.

Um, have you seen it ? No, it isn't the worst action film of the summer.

NUTS to all of you who predicted a bomb. This is one of the only sequels this summer that has shown legs.

Also, El Satanico...

Remember a few week backs when I said Word-Of-Mouth works in some cases ?

Well, in Seabiscuit' case... it does. What was the drop? 16%? Also, add the fact that it expanded.

Next Week:

1. S.W.A.T.

2. American Wedding

3. Freaky Friday

4. Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl

5. Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over / Seabiscuit

How does dropping 50 and 42 percent in consecutive weekends show that Bad Boys 2 has legs?

I have seen nearly all of the summer action movies

Charlies Angels

Tomb Raider

Bad Boys

T3

X2

LXG

Matrix

Hulk

And I still stand by comment that Bad Boys 2 is the worst of the bunch. It was nothing but formula action movie tripe with some PG-13 sex jokes, gun fights, car chases, mindless violence. All the movie showed is that Will Smith is a huge box office draw, he can draw millions to watch an unorginal movie.

Jeez, that's what I hate about some people...

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU EXPECTING ? The Two Towers ?

That's what it was suppose to be, nothing more...

This was a movie that some were actually waiting to see.

Bob Barron...

Despite the dropoffs, it's still been successful. It has already outgrossed the first, AND will make back it's budget...

Despite the dropoffs, it's still been successful.

I wasn't refuting its success. I was just pointing out that it doesn't have "legs" like Finding Nemo or the Italian Job did.

It has already outgrossed the first

Considering the first one only made 65 million- that's not that big of an accomplishment.

AND will make back it's budget...

According to imdb- the budget was only 75 million. So again- not much of an accomplishment.

While the movie has made money- it doesn't have legs like you said
