Spanky vs Ultimo Dragon

Spanky sucks chants by many, nice match with some of the same spots used in Calgary last night. One very unique hold by Dragon where he had Spanky face down, grabbed both his arms from behind, and put both his feet under his arms. Basically ended up swinging Spanky around underneath him, then moved over to swing his head back and forth into the bottom turnbuckle, pretty funny. Dragon got the victory with his signature move, don’t know the name.

 

Eddie Guerrero vs Matt Hardy V1 w/Shannon Moore

WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Extremely impressive match, what great chemistry between these two. Crowd was certainly behind Eddie, mostly because of the fact we met him in an autograph session during the day. Very entertaining to begin with, hilarious improv' by Eddie. When he had Hardy in a headlock, as the ref would look at Matt to check on him, Eddie would pull Matt’s hair making him scream (like a girl may I ad), and as usual Eddie pretends nothin happened. Eddie really plays off his character well right now. Another great and comical ending. Hardy went to hit Eddie with the belt which Shannon had passed him after Eddie missed the frog splash. Eddie ducked, and dropkicked the belt into Matts face. Forgot the point out the ref was down. Shannon comes in to help Matt and as the ref is beginning to stir, Eddie throws the belt at Shannon who catches it.. lays down as if he hit him. Ref dqs Hardy due to suposed \'outside interferance\'.

 

Worlds Greatest Tag Team vs APA vs Bashams w/Shaniqua

WWE Tag Team Championships

Bradshaw got on the mic and made a funny comment towards the Bashams saying \"Excuse me but is that man over there suposed to be your manager?\" refering to Shaniqua. Then continued to say \"Hey Mr dont get hot at me aight!?\". APA were the crowd favs, and yes, I got the \"FAROOQ, FAROOQ, FAROOQ IS ON FIRE\" Chants going again!! As I said in my Calgary show report, Haas and Benjamin can be pretty damn funny when given the chance. Shelton seemed impressive and I cant wait to see him in singles action. Worlds Greatest Tag Team stole the victory.

After the match they got their asses handed to em by APA.

 

Bikini Contest

Sorry, I didnt pay to watch some old hag strut around in next to nothing, Id much rather see an Angle or Benoit match than that.

I cant believe some people have the nerve to cheer for divas and then call Lance Storm boring!

Sable won but who gives a monkeys nipple!

 

Jamie "BY GAWD" Noble vs Rey Mysterio

WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Tony Chimmel did actually announce Noble as \"BY GAWD\" Noble. He also said something about being the worlds ????? Redneck. Probably richest, but I hope they start introducin him like that on sd its been long overdue lol. Great highflyin nonstop match. Rey went to come off the second rope but took a slip, the crowd were more sympathetic than booing. Cant stress how much the human highlight reel is a suiting description of Rey Rey. Same finish as Calgary yesterday, Rey hit the 619, went for the west coast pop but missed, Noble rolled him up but rey reversed and noble reversed again into what looked like a spinebuster, but rey reversed on that into that really cool move which I Can never remember the name of for the victory. Sorry lol.

 

Brother Love comes in as special guest. Didnt talk very long before introducing Zach Gowen. Teased him about his leg for a while before Zach challenged him to a match. Immediately Vinces music hit to the biggest ovation of the night. Very long reaction too, Vince even got cocky enough to pose on the turnbuckle. A few you screwed bret chants, but it wasnt a big deal. One thing lead to another and Vince announced himself as the ref for this match. Immediately hit Zach knocking him out of the ring. Brotha Love and McMahon started to head away when Gowen climbed the top turnbuckle, hit em with a moonsault into the ring, beat on em both for a while before being cued out with his music. Vince was hilarious as he went down the aisle just like last night in Calgary.

 

John Cena vs Billy Gunn

I will now recite John Cenas rap.. funny!

Billy Gunn had the crowd behind him even though Im a big Cena fan myself. Still no sign of Torrie but who cares!? Nice match, the same spots as in Calgary. Hilarious moment when Gunn had Cena in the corner and Cena started screamin like a girl sayin GET OFF ME GET OFF ME. Big Laughs. Cena with the well deserved victory, Gunn wanted to show his ass after but thank god this time the ref wouldnt let him and he went backstage.

 

Rhyno vs Chris Benoit "I Quit Submission Match"

Benoit really turns it up a notch here in Edmonton, you can really see the difference of how good of a match he wants to put on for his hometown fans. Rhyno basically got his ass handed to him. Eventually tapped to the third Crossface of the match. Benoit made a speech about how the greatest moments that always stand out after his 16 year career, are the ones where he comes back home to Edmonton. Rhyno left faking a back injury so the refs would carry him while he flipped off the crowd.

 

Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle

WWE Championship

What a clinic these two put on, although most of the work and directing was from kurt. As you can see Im not a huge brock fan, kurt all the way! The crowd were mostly behind Lesnar and this match had a little bit of everything! Brock wanted to work outside the ring a little but you could see kurt wanted to keep it in, respectful. Similar spots to their calgary bout, and the exact same ending. Kurt hit the Olimpic Slam, and locked in the ankle lock. As Brock reversed kurt kicking him off, kurt backed into the ref knocking him down. Brock slowly hit the f5 but there was no ref to pin, kurt rolled up Brock, ref comes thru and counts the 123. Kurt left quickly but Brock called him back out. Brock was talkin for ages and suddenly when he said he would beat Vince next week to earn a shot Kurt interrupted saying "WHAT" and the crowd went along. Brock began to crowd annoyed as every so often Kurt would jump in with a "WHAT, WHERE, HOW". We were all chanting what etc. Kurt was definitely having fun. Eventually Brock gave Kurt the f5 and left. Kurt got up a couple mins later. Got on the mic himself. He said its always an honor to come to the hometown of Chris Benoit, Edmonton. And its been a pleasure performing in Canada on this tour. He said once he’s beaten Lesnar at SummerlSlam, he guarantees that Benoit will be the first one to get a title shot. And in the case that Chris does kick his ass, that it would be a pleasure to lose to him because he thinks he’s the greatest wrestler of all time anywhere in the world, and that he cant wait to see Benoit bring back the title to Edmonton sometime in the near future.

Let’s just hope that really happens.

Great show

WWE has nothing to be ashamed of with shows like these; I have no idea why there are so many low turnouts recently when there are such great shows like these. Some people need to learn to respect true talent and wrestling, instead of a storyline or a diva in a bikini.

 

Notes

Edge was a no show, disappointing but it makes the Calgary show feel more special.

If the SummeSlam matches are anything like what Kurt, Brock, Beniot, Eddie, Cena and more have done over the past 2 days. Then its going to be a great SmackDown side of the ppv.
