Guest J-Rock Report post Posted August 4, 2003 Wassup people. I was looking at some suggetions about trading RVD for Taker. I'd be all for it. Let Taker handle his bro and RVD make his way to Smackdown, but as a heel. Have his hair down and turned black (kind of like O'haire) and all black attire. Let him state to his fans that there will be no more Rob...Van...Damn arm taunts, no more grinning, and says to hell with fans (you know basic heelish stuff). SKDN needs more top single heels besides Eddie, Show, and maybe Rhyno.
Guest PhantMan Report post Posted August 4, 2003 he used to be a cocky heel in ecw and was turned by the fans in ther first place. he's too stoned to tell the difference between acting like a heel and acting like a face.
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted August 4, 2003 His moves are too flashy to make the fans hate him, unless he changed his style completely.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted August 4, 2003 He would have to do something drastic like cut his hair, change his ring outfit and not act like a stoner. Basically he'd have to become a blue blood.
Guest THE MIGHTY THOR Report post Posted August 4, 2003 RVD should have Heyman as his manager and become the cocky ECW heel again. The majority of the WWE marks haven't had the chance to watch RVD in his cocky heel mode so it will be something new and refreshing for them.
Guest geniusMoment Report post Posted August 4, 2003 He should quit and go to TNA. At least thats what I hope he does.
Detective Comics 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2003 His moves are too flashy to make the fans hate him, unless he changed his style completely. LOL, RVD working a different style made me laugh for whatever reason.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted August 4, 2003 RVD did everything a heel would do when he first came to the Company. Then he had his first match with Jeff Hardy and he was a face from then on, no matter what. If he was jumping in a match causeing a face to lose...RVD!! RVD!!! if he was getting cheap shots with a chair before the match. RVD! RVD!! RVD!! He can't help but be a face.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted August 4, 2003 RVD = face by default

RVD!!! if he was getting cheap shots with a chair before the match. RVD! RVD!! RVD!! That's because he didn't do anything to really piss off the fans. All he would do was grin and do a run in. He never acted like a true heel at the time. Besides RVD! is one memorable chat only because he would start it. If he pisses off the fans and doesn't do anymore taunting, maybe there won't be anymore chats. When has RVD acted like a true heel. That ECW cocky gimmick wasn't that heelish. Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted August 4, 2003 Yes, because saying "fuck you" to the fans, demanding respect and not giving it back, and brutalizing every face on the roster (AKA RVD as a heel in ECW) aren't heelish acts at all, right?
Guest Goodear Report post Posted August 4, 2003 It won't really matter if they don't push the guy to the extent that he is at least featured on every pay per view that RAW has.
Guest BAR Report post Posted August 4, 2003 It could work if they give him a manager. They won't bring back the Fonz. So, Paul E would do a good job. If RVD was the cocky heel he was in ECW it could be a lot better than what he's doing now.
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted August 4, 2003 I would want to see him in as a tweener almost. He can act all heelish, but still have the fans behind him. A little like how Eddie is on Smackdown.
Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted August 4, 2003 Is there a legitimate reason why they won't bring Alphonso back? Did he leave under bad circumstances when he was there as a ref/handler for Giant Gonzales?
Guest Imarkout4chrisdaniels Report post Posted August 4, 2003 I think that RVD's offense was so unique and flashy at that point for the newer fans, added to the fact there were a lot of old ECW fans, which resulted in him being cheered no matter what. Now, his offense is more routine (not for everyone, but routine for him) and he has been a face for a while. I think he would be able to keep his persona pretty much intact, tweak it a little, and be a successful heel. Hell, it beats what he's doing now. You'd be surprised what a change of opponents can do. Guest JAxlMorrison Report post Posted August 4, 2003 Besides RVD! is one memorable chat only because he would start it. The fact is, he is the #1 face on RAW, maybe in the whole company, and he should have had the strap by now. But I doubt that will hhhappen. He didn't start the chant during the Jeff Hardy match, which, I might add, might have been Hardy's last good match.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2003 About the only way to make RVD heel is to bring back Bill Alfonso as his manager. Complete with highly annoying whistle and have RVD go back to doing lots of stalling.
Guest PhantMan Report post Posted August 4, 2003 just bring back sabu and fonzie and reform the whole f'n team!
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2003 I'll tell you when they could have turned him heel was the night HHH faced Kane for the title at MSG. He could have easily been pissed off about Kane dumping him as a partner and gone out and joined Evolution. Then after a couple months of freshening him up, he could have had a good feud with Triple H. With the way they're pushing Kane as the monster heel though, that might not be such a good idea after all. Now, as for moving him to Smackdown, RVD would not fit in well at all there. RVD does good flashy high spot entertainment wrestling which is good for entertainment fans on Raw. That allows him to have pretty good matches with whoever they put him in there with. However, if he's put in a match with someone like Angle, Benoit, or even HHH where he's actually supposed to sell, he's lost. The only way he knows to sell a leg injury is to use the same leg to kick someone with 500 times.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted August 4, 2003 But he'd have people who could carry him, and this produce good matches. Hell, if not classics, they'd at least be very watchable *** matches.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted August 5, 2003 Is there a legitimate reason why they won't bring Alphonso back? Did he leave under bad circumstances when he was there as a ref/handler for Giant Gonzales? Well, he's got 2 strikes against him: 1) he's not photogenic 2) he's male Today's WWE managers = female eye-candy.
Guest gregb7677 Report post Posted August 5, 2003 About the only way to make RVD heel is to bring back Bill Alfonso as his manager. Complete with highly annoying whistle and have RVD go back to doing lots of stalling. so help me god they bring back that whistle and I will go to the nearest RAW show and shove it down his throat. although it might not be so bad in a much larger venue than the ECW bingo hall. STILL its highly annoying and liableto drive anyone Insane
Guest humongous2002 Report post Posted August 5, 2003 RVD should just become a tweener and have him feud with faces or heels alike, screw that good guy/bad guys b.s.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2003 Saying "screw the face/heel bs" thing makes me laugh. No matter what there will always be a difference. The crowd will either boo you or cheer you or just go silent for you. You can claim to be a "tweener" but before long the crowd will decide which you really are.
Guest humongous2002 Report post Posted August 5, 2003 That's what i meant, the crowd still has the choice the cheer or jeer x wrestler, being a tweener could get you cheers or jeers and it's more suitable for RVD to get over again.
Guest Thunder Rising!!! Report post Posted August 6, 2003 He can do good as the cocky heel if the write a good heel turn for him. Though one might be worried with the pile of shit they call a writing team. I always thought RVD would perform at best a Smackdown, with guys like Angle, Benoit, Eddie, Rey to work with, he could put on more entertaining matches. Compared to Raw where he faced the Dudleyz, La Resistance, HHH etc.... Anyway Alfonso can get RVD mighty over but he annoys the hell out of me with his damn whistle.
Guest notJames Report post Posted August 6, 2003 Like many others have said before, RVD's offense is too flashy to get the crowd to boo him. It would take a severe overhaul of his repertoire to make him a heel. He would also need to change his promo style, from laid-back stoner to serious asshole, which I don't think he has in him. He'd probably have to align himself with Bischoff to get any kind of negative reaction, which I also don't see happening. But then again, with this paltry excuse for a writing team, I guess anything can happen in the WW_, no matter how stupid or pointless.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted August 6, 2003 Smackdown is bad for RVD too. He would be exposed right away against the likes of Benoit & Guerrero. Despite what else happens on the show, SD! treats its titles seriously. Witness Vengeance where the three title matches were far above anything else on the card. RVD is much better off on RAW. He is fighting the current big thing (Kane) on the second biggest show of the year. Sure, he's going to job, but if it was Smackdown he wouldn't even get on the card. It is crowded enough as it is in the mid-to-upper midcard. He'd be doing the exact same thing he spent the first half of 2003 doing. Being one half of an unlikely duo (probably with Billy Gunn), who is no major threat to take out TWGTT.
Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted August 6, 2003 Having RVD turn heel is almost as stupid as having STEVE AUSTIN turn heel. No one is that stupid....oh wait... RVD's heel status in WWE lasted for abut a minute. RVD = always been cocky, or shall I say, "laid back". RVD cheated like a motherfucker in a few matches during the invasion (v. Undertaker when Booker T did a run in for half the match), beat up every major face on the WWF roster, and STILL got cheered. The ONLY way to have RVD be a heel is for him to.. a.) Kill Someone b.) Learn mic skills so he can actually do antagonizing c.) Did I say Kill Someone? d.) Change his moveset from the spots that make crowds pop to more boring moves like Lance Storm (WWE's logic not mine) In short, RVD = won't be heel anytime soon.
