She Mainstreamed Porno?

1. Jenna didn't singlehandedly mainstream porn. It's taken years and alot of semi-famous adult performers to even get to this close-minded point we find ourselves at and it's still very frowned upon in "polite" society (likely by people who still watch behind closed doors).

 

Jenna's the latest porno/media darling, but porn has a long way to go before it's considered mainstream. When you see billboards on 5th Ave. with Peter North shilling for Gatorade or Belladonna on a box of Wheaties then we'll talk about mainstream acceptance.

 

Can there ever be anything classy or legitimate about porn? I mean it's not like people have refined discussions about porn!

2. I think any folder that was lucky enough to have PORNFAQ present knows this to be a flat-out falsehood and plain untrue. I don't know if there will ever be anything "classy" about porn (but then again is there anything classy about sex PERIOD?) but it can certainly be and is a legitimate form of entertainment and a billion dollar a year business. Just because some people can't wrap their mind around certain aspects of the industry and discuss them intellgently don't assume we ALL can't. There's no reason why an 18-year-old boy can watch roided-up sweaty men rassle each other in their underwear and talk/post about it for hours on end, but that same red-blooded, hormonally-raging 18-year-old can't talk about hot women having sex. If you can't, then I suggest you find out what's wrong with you, not the rest of us.

 

Tell me you just didn't play the race card towards porn.

3. If only I had a nickle for every time Johnson has shown his ignorance. Not only is there racism in porn, as so many before have pointed out, but it's very OPENLY embraced.

4. Damn, Ripper! You were around back then? I mean, Highspot? Geez. That was the old Smarks EZBoard and yes that "Racism in Porn" thread was one of that folder's highlights (if I do say so myself). I, to this day, get alot of kudos for that piece and folks still talk/ask about it. I mean, even Dr. Tom got in on it with his "Boo Radley" principle nonsense. That thread ruled. Unfortunately, it died with that board and I don't have it saved. And OMG, it was an intelligent discussion about porn...which supposedly can't happen. Guess we proved'em wrong again, eh Rip?

With the way that industry is nowadays, its no wonder. I hate that its racially biased as well, but at the end of the day, its people having sex on camera with the majority of women *appearing* to enjoy it.

He has a right to, since it's obvious that racism is present within the porn industry. Look how many women refuse to do scenes with black guys. I'm not big fan of most black pornstars (the women, actually), but I think it's pretty obvious that there's a racial line present in the business and it can be seen by picking up your typical porno.

I don;t know CJ, but the idea of Peter North doing spots for Gatorade is extremely funny to me.

 

And yes, as previously mentioned (myself being a black male), there is that being held over the actresses heads, in that its to the point in some cases that some actresses will not even *date* black men for fear of losing money from the stigma in the industry.

 

And people wonder why I stick to amateur stuff.. All of the actresses are starting to look and act more and more like androids... a piece of driftwood has more personality that the majority of actresses in the business.. not only that but the major starts are making girl-girl movies almost exclusively....

 

There is a major downturn for the business coming, mark my words.

Yeah, unfortunately Highspot had to go on the shelf. It was for his own good. I just had the misfortune of choosing 9/11 (like the wee hours of the morning before the terrorist incident, not after) to do it. While Highspot died at like some time between 10pm on 9/10 and 1am on 9/11, people still insist it was a prank to capitalize on the 9/11 hysteria. Nothing could be further from the truth. Mere coincidence.

 

As for that article at Luke Ford, that is the article that pretty much gave me the inspiration to bring the whole racism topic to light at the old Smarks. A damn good read and probably a better read than my thread from way back for those who want to know what's up.

I understand why Dames and Co. eliminated the Porno folder and made the LSD one, but that folder does feel like it's been washed in estrogen at times. I think that a LSD folder is a good idea, but Porno is a totally different creature. Sanktuary used to have a killer one (btw, can't wait for SNKT II) however WDI's Porno folder is servicable for now.

 

I do have to give it up to Obi Wan PornFAQ Kenobi for being the MVP for all those porno folders from the past and present. I wish he'd visit here more often.
