Guest The Czech Republic Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 I noticed on the news page that WWE gave Harry Smith a tryout match this evening. I've been told that for a 17-year-old, he is very good. Hopefully WWE takes him in very soon. Picture this: Harry debuts, says some words, and is challenged by Haas and Benjamin. They have a match, Haas or Benjamin wins, and after Harry goes for a handshake, WGTT decides to give Harry a wrestling lesson and they take turns stretching the kid out until Benoit comes in, reprimands WGTT for shooting on the guy, and the two Dungeon guys team up to take on Charlie and Shelton. It'd be a new British Bulldogs to some extent, with Benoit as Dynamite and Harry as Davey. Then you get the whole thing with Chris acting as a father figure/mentor and I'd like it.
Guest CanadianChick Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 The match was pretty bland (he was against Andy Anderson), but still fine. He's pretty damn good for being so young. It was a million times better than the other dark match (Jintrak and Cade vs. some local guys).
Guest Choken One Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 He's too young...I'd give him two years to Season... Although the New Bulldogs is a Interesting Dynamic that would go over the heads of 99.4% of the WWE market.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 Why is he even getting into the business? He saw what happened with his father. One would think he'd be turned away after seeing that.
Guest Choken One Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 It's in the Blood. I think he wants to revive the family... Anyone know if the other Hart Kids are in the training business? I used to think Harry and Dallas would be tag team Champions by 2008.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 Anyone know if the other Hart Kids are in the training business? Ted Hart is currently working for Stampede Wrestling. So there is a Hart kid wrestling right now. I think there is another one getting himself into the business as well but I might be wrong. I only know that Ted is in.
Guest Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 Nattie Neidhart ( Anvil's neice) is in Stampede aswell. Don't know how much that can count for though. give Harry a few more years to season up and he will probably become a 'smark darling' working wherever he ends up. He is scary good for an 18 year old.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 I feel so stupid for thinking Harry Smith as in Harry Smith of the CBS morning show..
Guest Vern Gagne Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 He could team up with Mark McEwen the weatherman and feud with Matt Lauer and Al Roker w/Willard Scott has their manager.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 He could team up with Mark McEwen the weatherman and feud with Matt Lauer and Al Roker w/Willard Scott has their manager. I hear Roker has a greater moveset since the stomach staple.
Guest Mr. Slim Citrus Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 I hear Roker has a greater moveset since the stomach staple. ... but he can't take a Gutbuster anymore; Bob Wright went so far as to have the move outlawed!
Guest Vern Gagne Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 Special guest ref Bryant Gumble. He has a history with both stations morning shows.
Guest BAR Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 The New Bulldogs could work. Dynamite being the older father like figure to Benoit, then Benoit doing the same for Harry.
TheFranchise Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 The New Bulldogs could work. Dynamite being the older father like figure to Benoit, then Benoit doing the same for Harry. Why the hell did i just think of Ted DeBiase and Virgil vs Dusty and Dustin Rhodes? I'm not all for father/son type relationships..
Guest BAR Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 Yeah, age gaps are uncomfortable. Dyno mentioned it in the book about feeling uncomfortable working with Benoit because of that.
Guest Rob Edwards Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 If he's half as good as a pre steroid Davey it'll be a hell of a lot of fun watching the kid At the very least you know the kid will be working his ass off to uphold the family legacy
Guest BAR Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 Davey was amazing in his NJ and Stampede days. He was a bit too skinny in Stampede, though.
Guest bravesfan Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 Credit: The Observer - Dark match #1: Randy Anderson vs. Henry Smith. This is Davey Boy's kid. Couple of boring chants at the start of this 7 minute match. Smith won with a dropkick off the top rope. Dark match #2 was Jindrak and Garrison Cade vs. local guy Tony Kazina and BUDDY WAYNE~! That was a short retirement. Buddy is so great, and whacky. Jindrak did a no-sell, small guys bouncing off him bit early. During this match, The Mullets came in and tried to get a crowd reaction. They weren't referred to at ALL for the rest of the night, nor did they actually do anything except watch the show. Anyway, Cade pinned Wayne after a Something. Heat match was very good, Test vs. Tommy Dreamer. Dreamer of course got the usual ECW chants. Test is NOT liked. Crowd HATED him RABIDLY. Test did the whacky strut a couple of times. Fun because of the heat. A chick with a French flag appeared after the La Resistance match. Oh she was not liked. Biggest heat of the night besides Test. You screwed Bret chants for Hebner, at a volume that surprised me, because nobody really cared the last time he was here. Prediction: Rosie will get over in his new gimmick. Every move he does gets a "HOLY SHIT" chant. Har de har har. Oh well, if he doesn't do comedy, he doesn't do anything, I guess. Crowd did not like Goldberg ONE BIT. Behind Flair the entire time. Before the RVD match, during the commercial, the crowd did a very loud "BC Bud!" chant. Once it died down, RVD climbed the ropes and returned the chant. Also fun! =) After the show went off the air, Bischoff taunted Shane a bit, then left. They brought out the stretcher, but Shane left on his own power to applause. No Rocky, no Rocky chants.
