Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted August 5, 2003 I think by now everyone knows that the Skins brought back Danny Wuerffel over the weekend. But the thing that pissed me off so much is that they would bring him back and get rid of Brad Banks, who they managed to sign as an undrafted free agent shortly after the draft earlier this year. Now you might be saying, Brad Banks probably wasn't gonna play anyway and theres a reason why no teams drafted him. But I personally have to believe, after seeing Wawful play last year, that Banks would be a better 3rd string option (Behind Ramsey and Rob Johnson). Patrick Ramsey could be a good QB, but he's not anywhere near that level yet, and even with the new offensive weapons that were acquired, he's probably gonna flounder this year early. We saw what happened last year, and I can only assume that Spurrier will grow restless with that and put Rob Johnson in. Rob Johnson sucks ass as it is anyway, and I doubt he'll do any better. So inevitably I think we'll see Wawful in a game this year, as the starting QB. And when the team's starting QB is Danny Wawful, things are definitely not good. Maybe next year they'll sign a new QB, although I'd hate to see it because I still personally see something in Patrick Ramsey... And just up the road a bit in Baltimore, Kyle Boller is looking pretty good after missing about a week of training camp. I'd rather see Boller start than Redman (who did absolutely nothing last year in the 6 games he played in before getting hurt) but I have a feeling that by holding out for a week, Boller screwed up his chances of being the starter. Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted August 5, 2003 Being a diehard Redskin fan, I won't ever hate them no matter how stupid some of the front office moves are. I really hope to not see Danny Woeful taking snaps at any time during the season. I have no clue why they would bring him back. He was the worse of our 3 quarterbacks last year, hands down. He must have pictures of Spurrier violating girl scouts from way back in the day or something.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted August 5, 2003 Err, well for one, Wuerfull knows the offense. Yes he sucks and I don't ever want to see him in the game, but he would definately perform better in Spurrier's complicated offensive scheme than a rookie who has had a few weeks of time to prepare. Brad Banks had a strong arm, but according to training camp reports, that was about all he had. I'd say Matthews was just as bad as Danny last season. Danny did "lead" the Skins to the victory over the Rams and had an ok game vs. the cowboys until the second half meltdown by the entire team. Also, DW is probably good for Ramsey to have on the sidelines, since he is well-schooled in Spurrier's offensive scheme, I would imagine he could help tutor and give advice to Ramsey. So as long as the guy isn't actually playing during the season, I'd say it isn't a bad move to have him standing on the sideline cheering Ramsey on. Oh and he was also signed because Rob Johnson supposedly is doing AWFUL(which was expected). Barring Injury or blowout scoring, I don't really expect to see Ramsey taken out of any games. We didn't have a #1 QB going into last season so everyone was yanked. Ramsey was also not ready to be a starter yet which is why we saw the flashes of great things to come mixed with horrible play which is typical of a young rookie. I mean we can bring up Farve's falcons days or Steve Young's buccaneers' days if you want for comparison. Ramsey has some starts, and now a full training camp behind him, plus he is going in as "the man" so even though it is his first FULL YEAR, I expect to see an improvement.
