Guest Vern Gagne Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 The AL Central gets all the attention, but look at the NL the Astros are winning with basically the same record has K.C. The Twins, Cardnials, and White Sox have all underachieved. Both leagues have horrible teams. Which one is worse. One conclusion. Baseball sucks in the midwest.
Guest bravesfan Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 The A.L. Central houses the Tigers. I believe the debate can be put to rest right here.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 The Brewers, Reds, and Pirates all are cupcakes. Not has bad as Detroit, but they should be easy wins for any half way decent team.
Guest Choken One Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 How come the giants...the "GREAT" team lost 2/3 to the cup cake reds ?
Guest Vern Gagne Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 The Reds caught the Giants when they weren't playing well.
Guest CanadianChris Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 The Brewers, Reds, and Pirates all are cupcakes. Guest Choken One Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 I never liked the fact the NL central has an extra team... I always wanted Houston to move out or something... I know Selig has a specific logistical reasoning for a six team divison but I don't care.
Guest geniusMoment Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 I want Houston and the St. Louis to move out and Detroit to move in. Think of that division Cincy Cubs Detroit Pitts Brew Crew
Guest Bosstones Fan Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 I want Houston and the St. Louis to move out and Detroit to move in. Think of that division Cincy Cubs Detroit Pitts Brew Crew Good idea. My Cubbies would OWN that group! The question then: where do St. Louis/Houston go?
Guest T_Hunt Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 The reason basball "sucks" in the midwest is because other than the cubs, white soxs and cardinals, both underacheiving (but the white soxs i feel cant underacheive simply because on paper they are good), are small market with no huge TV deals to help them out. So teams like the Royals, Twins, and Reds have to make their teams around prospect.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 As of the time I wrote this post: KC > Houston Chicago < St. Louis Minnesota < Chicago Cleveland < Pittsburgh/Cincy Detroit < Milwaukee NL 4, AL 1...
Guest T_Hunt Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 How can you say the Royals are better than the Astros?! The royals are like 330 versus winning teams and the only reason they are in first is because they are like 33-15 or something like that versus their divison. And they have a few series versus the Yankees, Mariners, and Red Soxs. Plus they are already losing there grip on their lead. Plus while the Soxs and Royals are playing teams like the Yankees, Mariners and Red Soxs the Twins have a healthy schedule including the Orioles, Tigers and Indians. Plus the Twins are getting Eric Milton back in a month. Wow this sure did turn into a Pro-Twins winning the central real quick. I apoligize for trailing off, but damn it the Royals are only beating teams they should beat.
Guest jimmy no nose Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 He said the Royals are better than the Astros based on record. It's very close though. Houston has a .541 winning percentage and KC has a .545.
Guest alkeiper Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 I don't see a problem with the Central. I'm looking forward to some exciting pennant races this September.
Guest DrTom Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 the Twins have a healthy schedule including the Orioles, Tigers and Indians. Plus the Twins are getting Eric Milton back in a month. The Twins have the easiest schedule, based on opposing teams' win percentages, in all of MLB the rest of the way. If they're going to make a run, this should be the time. I don't see what the big deal about getting Milton back is, though. Sure, he's good, but he's not as good as advertised, and having him make five starts after not pitching against major-league competition since the spring isn't something to get excited about.
Guest T_Hunt Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 Milton is the best starting the Twins have got. It doesnt matter if he hasnt pitched to any one this year, he has still pitched for a few years agaisnt professionals, he will be ready to go. Plus if you look at the Twins pitchers, they SUCK this year. Any help will be welcomed.
Guest Bruiser Chong Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 I wouldn't call the NL Central teams horrible, well not half of them, anyway. The Astros, Cardinals, and Cubs are all good, but average in the end. Regardless of who wins that division, I see them making an early exit out of the post-season. The Cubs have potential to be one of the better teams in the NL in the coming years because of their young, but threatening startion rotation. They need to add another bat or two and get someone consistent down there in the bullpen, and things should be looking up for them. This could just be because I'm a huge Cubs fan, but they've done pretty well against the really good teams of the NL this season. They took two of three from the Marlins, Astros, Giants, and Diamondbacks in the last month, which is no small feat, whether those teams are playing great or just well. I think that the NL Central has the AL Central beat by just a bit, because they usually have three contenders for first place each year, while the AL Central usually just has two, if that.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 I doubt Milton will pitch this year. Even if he does, it will take him at least 3 or 4 starts to into any kind of groove.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 How can you say the Royals are better than the Astros?! Come back next week and see if the w/l records have changed...
Guest T_Hunt Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Milton says he will be back this year because in the Star Tribune ( the Minneapolis paper) he says he will be back by early september.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Naturally a player will think they'll be ready before they actually are. What's the difference anyways the Twins aren't getting over the hump this year. We wouldn't be having this discussion if Milton wouldn't of waited until March to get knee surgery.
Guest T_Hunt Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 The Twins have a VERY VERY good chance of catching the Soxs and Royals because they have 7 games against both teams left and based on winning percentage they have the easiest schedule of any team. What would make you think they cant catch up. They have been playing very well lately, only the white soxs have a better record since the break. But i will say that was very ignorant for Milton to wait.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 They never beat the Royals what makes you think suddenly start doing so. That and they've lost 5 out 7 to the Indians. Someone they should win 5 out 7 against.
