Favorite hhh match

Well, almost everyone agrees that HHH is just a shadow of his former self and is dragging down the match quality of the main event scene. So let's hit the time machine, prior to his injury, and tell us what your favorite Trips match is.

 

 

My personal favorite is the Cactus Jack streetfight from Rumble 2000. The match was brutal and was the first HHH match that I loved.

I'll have to agree. Mostly because I don't remember the bulk of Jericho/H at Fully Loaded 2000. And even then, I really didn't think the Street Fight was anything mind blowing.

The Streetfight was my MOTY for 2000, while my favourite HHH match was my MOTY for 2001...the two out of three falls match with Austin at No Way Out.

The cactus feud is the only reason i accepted that trips wasn't a worthless piece of shit, but it was mainly mick. No way out vs Austin was even better, but that was austin.

and the iron man match with the rock was the highlight of that feud.

HHH was on a roll in 2000: 2 absolute classics with Foley to start the year, first heel to retain the title at WM in a very good match, Excellent match with Rocky at Backlash, their classic Ironman next month, forget KOR, the infamous Last Man Standing, good 3 way with Angle and Rock, then good matches with Angle, and the next month with Benoit. Sure he finished with a shitty match with Austin as his last singles PPV match, but other than that what a year he had! He truly was great. It's a shame he can't be what he was.

3 Stages of Hell with Austin was the best heavyweight match in America in 4 years.

 

Last Man Standing with Jericho bordered right at ****3/4 and *****

 

The Street Fight with Foley was a ***** classic.

Jericho and Hunter did that ****3/4 last man standing would have been 5 if jericho went over

The Hell in a Cell with Mick Foley was *****

 

But the absolute best had to be the street fight at Royal Rumble 2000 *****

i think it's a tie between the tag match on raw & hell in a cell with foley.  hell in a cell was technically the better match, but the tag match holds a special place in my heart (no, it's not because he got injured).

 

and what is so great about that 2/3 falls match?  i've seen it twice & i still can't identify any greatness.

I'm going to have to go with 3 stages of Hell barely beating out Rumble 2k.  The reason being that with 3 stages of Hell, you had it all....it seemed like Rumble 2k was just a really big hardcore match.  Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I prefer just pure wrestling, with some stuff thrown in there.

I like SummerSlam 1998, because it was really the match where HHH and the Rock broke out and showed they were the real deal and capable of being big stars in the future. A totally awesome match that to me is better than any Shawn ladder match and better than any TLC match.

I love the Rumble 2k match too, but I think it's about tied with the Iron Man match. I really didn't think those guys could go 60 minutes, but they did, and spectacularly, due to busting their ass and good booking, though the UT finish sort of ends the match on a sour note.

Okay, I'll play along since I'm a Trips mark in disgust with the current version. I pick the 2 out of 3 falls. Although I agree with the poster that it isn't THAT great. I could see some people seeing the match being over-rated. The same with the RR 2K match. At points the match was boring to me although I would pick that as #2. I like the ironman match the best though, but if we are ranking on quality the match loses some for that crappy ending.
