Guest Plushy Al Logan Report post Posted August 6, 2003 Every Rose Has Its Thorn: From the Album Open Up And Say...Ahh!- Believe it or not, it 1988 (the day and age of power-ballads) POISON was told by several music industry executives that an acoustic ballad would never be a hit. Hmmm? No song POISON has ever written best describes an exact point in my life as this one. I wrote this song in the summer on ¡¥86 in a laundry mat at a Dallas, Texas motel. We were on the road playing night clubs in support of Look What The Cat Dragged In. To me the ¡§rose¡¨ symbolized the fact that my dreams of recording an album and touring have come true. The ¡§thorn¡¨ however, came when a friend from Los Angeles called to tell me that my girlfriend at the time (who shall remain nameless), was seeing a musician from a then famous band (who shall also remain nameless), because he had more money than me, and a nicer car. Their meaningless relationship didn¡¦t last, however, the song did and went straight to #1 for eight weeks in a row! It is strange how a depressing incident can inspire such a successful song. Who was Bret Michaels refering to?

Guest JangoFett4Hire Report post Posted August 6, 2003 When did Bret Michaels date Pam Anderson Lee Rock? Before or after Tommy Lee? The fact that he alludes to her remaining nameless tells me it was someone famous.
Guest Plushy Al Logan Report post Posted August 6, 2003 When did Bret Michaels date Pam Anderson Lee Rock? Before or after Tommy Lee? The fact that he alludes to her remaining nameless tells me it was someone famous. Pam and Bret broke up in 1994, which pretty much ended Poison's career, and besides the song from which this topic is inspired from was released in 1988. Guest Choken One Report post Posted August 6, 2003 but why would Brett have an emotional attachment to a well known famous Glam Rock Groupie...

Guest Plushy Al Logan Report post Posted August 6, 2003 Not to change the subject of my thread, I just found an interesting list: the band has huge hair (1 drink per inch) mandatory bimbos appear mandatory bimbos are scantily clad (2 if they appear to have forgotten their shirts) men wear really tight pants the bimbos fawn over the men the guitarist plays a typically 80's looking guitar with points at the end men wear pink band has a pseudo dangerous name (Poison, GUNS n Roses) One of the band members is wearing a bandanna (2 if it's hanging from his back pocket) the song is about getting laid if it is a slow song, it sounds suspiciously like country music if the performer is female, she is dressed like a slut 1 drink per article of leather clothing pseudo-satanic imagery the band uses choreographed dance moves you look at the pants and question the man's ability to breed... open shirts no shirts visible chest hair bimbos have big hair virgin/whore imagery bimbos act whorish the singer struts around the stage the video looks like a live concert...2 if the crowd is made up mostly of scantily clad girls with poof and woof hair pyrotechnics drummer does fancy tricks with his drum sticks the drummer makes "sexy" kissy faces at the camera while pointing with his drum stick someone wears a big hat someone wears cowboy boots "sexy" facial expressions the guys in the band are UGLY a guy looks like a girl
Guest Doyo Report post Posted August 6, 2003 I found this: http://www.metal-sludge.com/Ho-Bag4.htm EMAIL #1 Hi Donna (You Rock!), I just saw the entry on where the song "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" was inspired and have read an article that Bret Michaels said that the song "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" was inspired when Bret & Poison was on tour with Quiet Riot at one point he walked into a hotel room and the drummer from QR was banging his girlfriend because he elaborated and said that he had a "knack" for sending his girlfriends into the arms of drummers of other bands (Susie Hatton left him for her drummer on her album & this gf banging the Quiet Riot drummer..ect) So that's where it came from. EMAIL #2 I just wanted to answer the question somebody wrote in regarding who was the subjuct of Poison's song "Every Rose Has It's Thorn". I have read a couple of interviews of Bret Michaels where he never states who the girl was, but the rock star he caught her with was Carlos Cavazo of Quiet Riot when they toured together in WI. Thanks... Dark Angel Well we got 2 different names but at least we know the band now. Carlos Cavazo is the guitarist for Quiet Riot, and the drummer for Quiet Riot is Frankie Banali. So we now it's about Quiet Riot, but which guy is it?
Guest Doyo Report post Posted August 6, 2003 Pam and Bret broke up in 1994, which pretty much ended Poison's career, and besides the song from which this topic is inspired from was released in 1988. I don't think their relationship had anything to do with Poison's career and their career never really ended. They still headline arena tours (something that very few bands that came out in the past ten years do) and they still release albums.
