Guest TheGame2705 Report post Posted August 9, 2003 Well this would be a good column if it was done by someone else with better grammar skills but hey I think people will get it anyway. I've noticed while playing EWR that I usually book as the WWE is booked and in a way how WCW was booked. I have some really talented guys on my roster that I've only started to use in decent roles and I've gone through about 1 3/4 years. My main event scene was Nash, Hogan, Luger, Sting, Scott Hall, Rick Steiner, and at first Jeff Jarrett and Giant. My undercarders included Perry Saturn, Simon Diamond, Jerry Lynn, Steve Williams, Kobashi, Misawa, and Scott Steiner among others. Whenever I placed those undercarders in matches they were usually 5% or more above my main events. So why did I still use Hogan instead of Jerry Lynn? Why did I use Kevin Nash instead of Kobashi and Misawa? Simple, I didn't have to use any effort at all to keep Hogan, Luger, Nash, or Sting over so I could always count on a 95 or better crowd reaction and this would carry the decent to bad workrate. Meanwhile, I'd work on getting some of the guys who could work, over. That did sound good except those undercarders have been as over as my reg. main eventers for some months now and they can work better. Some of them can even do just as good interviews. So why did I still use my old main eventers? You can't just tell the main eventers you have now to take a hike. You have to phase them out pretty much until one is left and then start creating a new main event with the new guys. Why change your whole booking system if the top guys are still doing good? Why change it if they aren't doing good but aren't doing that bad? If the company does poor you can't put the blame on the main eventers because say you don't like a restaraunt's food, are you going to not tip the waiter? Are you going to jip the workers just because the people aren't interested like they used to be? Anyway, I just wanted to see if anyone else thought it was plausible that Vince thinks this way. Bye. Only The Strong Survive 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2003 Vince's reasoning is probably that since they can draw ratings/ money with just a name like Hogan or Stone Cold or Rock, that putting them in a match is not only a way to sell them, but a way to insure that regardless of how crappy the match is, Vince still makes his big bucks off of the fact that Mr. Casual Joe Wrestling Fan will tune in/ pay to see them. Why do you think Stone Cold is Co-GM of Raw? And why did Mr. America stick around in a so-bad-my-two-year-old-cousin-could-write-better angle? And what about Piper? Regardless of their workrate, their work ethic, their age or anything, a big name is a big name is lots and lots of cash. It's really simple.
