Guest kebab Posted August 15, 2003 Report Posted August 15, 2003 I'm looking for any sites that have reviews of the more famous bouts of the 70's, like Tsuruta vs Funk, Tsuruta vs Race, Destroyer vs Baba, RWTL finals and such. Anyone ?
Guest RickyChosyu Posted August 18, 2003 Report Posted August 18, 2003 airraidcrash.com has some great reviews of some 70's matches, including Jumbo/Terry, Destroyer/Mascaras and Destroyer/Hansen. Just look under "Triple Shots" and you'll find what you're after there. Head over to otherarena.com. They've had some truly great reviews of 70's footage over there, but most of them have been deleated to save space. However, I'm sure that if you ask over there or e-mail jdw, he'll be willing to cut and paste them for you since he saves everything worth keeping. Deffinitely check that out, since Jewett and Williams had some really good reviews on there. deathvalleydriver.com has some 70's footage reviewed, but the quality of the review really does depend on which playa is doing the reviewing, as some of them can be a little nutty. Use caution.
Guest Black Tiger Posted August 18, 2003 Report Posted August 18, 2003 Rolling Germans has reviews of the first seven tapes in the All Japan Classics series
Guest kebab Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 Cheers for your help guys. One more thing: I have read a few comments here and there about a 1969 Giant Baba vs The Destroyer match. I think it was Tim Cooke (?) who recomended it as an intro to AJ. What makes it so great ? What's the psychology of the match ? Has anyone written a review on it ? Do you know where I can get it on tape ? I get most my stuff from Highspots, but I don't think they have it.
Guest Black Tiger Posted August 25, 2003 Report Posted August 25, 2003 Well Baba vs Destroyer from 1969 actually predates AJPW by a couple of years. I would try Jeff Lynch for a tape of the match. If he don't have it he should be able to point you in the direction of it
Guest RickyChosyu Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 Tim doesn't come around here anymore, but you can find him at the airraidcrash.com message board, where he pops up every so often.
