Smw invade wcw?

I remember Jim Cornette cutting an awesome promo on WCW Saturday Night in early '93. My question is, was it supposed to be an SMW invasion? And who thought of bringing them in? Was it one of Bill Watts last things as WCW V.P. or did Eric Bischoff think of bringing them in?

I wouldn't think of it as an invasion. Bobby Eaton did a few run-ins in SMW to help the Heavenly Bodies (then Stan Lane & Tom Pritchard) beat the Rock 'N' Roll Express. They showed a few promos and archive footage of the Bodies/RNR feud, and a couple of interviews, like the one you mentioned.

 

The big WCW blow-off match was at SuperBrawl 3, where the RNR Express beat the Bodies after some botched Eaton interference.

I think it would of been a good idea if WCW did an invasion with SMW. I belive SMW was hot during that time period and could of been a good angle for WCW. 1993 wasn't a good year for WCW.

I thought it was somewhere inbetween an invasion and an interpromotion battle.I thought it was pretty cool though that they did that,because back then it was pretty rare and was still rare now up until the WWF/WCW Invasion angle.

I wouldn't think of it as either. That's like saying M-Pro wrestling on an ECW house show and on Barely Legal was an interpromotional battle/invasion. It was just an exhibition.

The SMW thing with WCW was more than less an Invasion because Cornette, Heavenly Bodies, and RnR were not under WCW contract at the time.  The feud was meant to draw down in the Carolina's, where WCW held Superbrawl III in Feb of that year.  It was a work but was no less of an Invasion than this NWO thing is going to be.

It was Bill Watt and Jim Cornette's idea, but when Watts left WCW Bischoff killed it.  Cornette tells the story in his shoot interview.  When he cut the promo, everything he said had been approved, but Bischoff went behind everyone's back and had basically the whole promo bleeped out.

Didn't Cornette sign with the WWF as Yokozuna's manager so he could showcase SMW? I specifically remember Rock and Roll Express vs Heavenly Bodies @ SummerSlam 93
