Guest Smues Posted April 2, 2002 Report Posted April 2, 2002 Hell yes I'm going to see it. It looks like it might be the worst movie ever made.
Guest J*ingus Posted April 2, 2002 Report Posted April 2, 2002 I just don't know. The preview made it look like a halfway competent movie, the camerawork and special effects weren't bad, and I'm not sure if that's a positive or a negative in a Friday the 13th movie, which are typically kind of home-grown. It looked like less of a horror movie and more of an action thriller, with people actually fighting Jason instead of just running and dying. By the way, have the distributors lost the rights to the title "Friday the 13th" or something, because the last two movies haven't had that in their title.
Guest The Man in Blak Posted April 3, 2002 Report Posted April 3, 2002 Are you kidding me? I'm going to need a break from sanity around April 26, since that's going to be right around Finals time for me, so I'll be there with bells on. Edit: I love typos.
Guest Speed 6 Posted April 3, 2002 Report Posted April 3, 2002 Hell Yeah I'm gonna see this. I've already read the script and it sounds like total, generic, horror movie crap, but so are most of the other Jason movies, and I like them, so what the hell. Plus my friend is a pretty huge Jason mark so at least I know I got some one to go with me. Another thing I already love about the movie is it's stupid, corny tag-line: EVIL GETS AN UPGRADE!
Guest evenflowDDT Posted April 3, 2002 Report Posted April 3, 2002 Well, since I never really liked the Friday the 13th franchise and every "in space" franchise horror movie has been either boring or lovably cheesy, Jason X certainly doesn't have to worry about living up to any standards... so why not, sure it'll look stupid and probably suck, but I blew $9 on Bones in the theatre, so I figure I should at least owe up to Mr. Voorhees, just this once. But only because it promises the HIGHEST BODY COUNT EVER in a Friday the 13th film, so that plus the cheesiness of being "in space" means I'll find some way to love it deep down in side... ...or I could save my money and just download it off Kazaa right now, if I start today it should still be done before its release date (I'm 28.8 dial-up).
Guest Posted April 3, 2002 Report Posted April 3, 2002 How do you like that bitchin' new costume? J-X is supposed to have the biggest body count ever.
Guest Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 I'll be seeing it first day. I love all the Friday the 13th movies (I'll take them over the MTV horror fluff of this generation any day). I've seen part 7 through 9 in the theatre (I was too young to see any of the others ??? ) and there is no way I'll miss part 10. I'm sure it won't be a 5 star classic, but what do you expect from a Friday the 13th movie? I enjoy them on the level they were made.
Guest starvenger Posted April 5, 2002 Report Posted April 5, 2002 This ain't a Friday the 13th movie as far as I'm concerned. It's just another sci-fi trapped-on-a-ship-with-a-killer-maniac/alien thriller that happens to have Jason in it.
Guest Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 It has Jason in it, so it's a Friday the 13th movie. I'd call Jason Goes to Hell almost a "non Friday the 13th" movie considering Jason is only in it for about 10 minutes.
Guest DragonflyKid Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 What ever happened to the Jason vs. Freddy Krueger movie? I think I remember hearing it was going to put an end to both series.
Guest Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Jason vs. Freddy is in development hell, sharing a room with script re-write hell.
Guest starvenger Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 >Jason vs. Freddy is in development hell, sharing a room with script re-write hell. I hear Aliens vs. Predator is in the same room...
Guest Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Didn't jason die in the last one, and freddy took his mask to hell, thats what I remember, distinctly. I guess the wwf makes jason movies --Rob
Guest El Satanico Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Aliens vs. Predator is basically dead. Which is probably a good thing. I've never read the comic but can't imagine the movie being very good...unless they had good people in charge of it.
Guest KOR420 Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 even though Jason's gonna look like a half ass robocop,i love these movies so i'll see it
Guest evenflowDDT Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 What ever happened to the Jason vs. Freddy Krueger movie? I think I remember hearing it was going to put an end to both series. I thought besides being, like C.H.U.D. (who is quickly becoming my new favorite poster) said, stuck in development hell, that its status was riding on Jason X. If that film does good, they'll continue work on it, if not, its toast. Personally I'm still waiting on Puppet Master vs. Demonic Toys ???
Guest goodhelmet Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 Eh. I lost interest in the Friday the 13th movies after #2. I went to the movies today and saw the previews and it looked friggin stupid
Guest Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 You look for intelligence in a Friday the 13th film? :0
Guest KOR420 Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 That C.H.U.D. movie rules,i just wanted to post and say that
Guest Youth N Asia Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 Already seen it...heh, don't ask. It was kinda cool...I wish they wouldn't have put it too far into the future, makes it real cheesey. My only problem with it is that they went for a few cheap laughs when it's suppose to be in a scarey moment. Jason does change/transform some...and that's kind of cool. Thumbs barely up
Guest goodhelmet Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 "You look for intelligence in a Friday the 13th film?" Absolutely not. But I like to suspend my disbelief a little bit and through the previews I kept thinking "How stupid".
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 Huh. the poll button is working again. I'll probaly go see it as my current girlfriend is into horror movies and gets frightened out of her mind and is thus all over me. It goes without saying we've been watching ALOT of horror movies.
Guest Zack Malibu Posted April 13, 2002 Report Posted April 13, 2002 I've heard that Jason vs. Freddy may follow Jason X. Maybe the whole future/in space/Uber-Jason is someone's nightmare, and Freddy will show up at the end of Jason X. I've heard that the ending leaves something to be desired, yet leaves room for a sequel, so that could be it. Of course, I've never listened to the critics anyways. If I did, then I wouldn't consider The Toxic Avenger a movie classic (which I honestly do!) BTW, C.H.U.D., you seem to have pretty much the same taste in movies as I do. Just promise me you'll never, EVER, speak of C.H.U.D. 2, Bud The Chud! EVER!
Guest Youth N Asia Posted April 14, 2002 Report Posted April 14, 2002 Freddy does NOT show in up Jason X is any way shape or form...it does leave the option open for a sequal though.
Guest Posted April 14, 2002 Report Posted April 14, 2002 When Urkel went to Space that was the end of that Show. Now a killer with a Hockey Mask that they killed over a over an he still continues to hold a grudge cause someone drown him in a friggin lake way back when? Good friggin gravy boats The Man needs help. Why don't he get married or something. Or go kill that friggin Leprechaun!!
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted April 16, 2002 Report Posted April 16, 2002 I'm down with this flick. I have never had the honor of sitting through a horror movie from the 70s and 80s or any of the sequels they spawned...except Bride of Chucky...but I enjoyed that DAMMIT!!!! Jason X looks so bad that as soon as I saw him in the preview I turned to my friend...gave him the thumbs up and said "I am SOOOOOO going to see this movie"... ...if that makes sense.
Guest El Satanico Posted April 16, 2002 Report Posted April 16, 2002 Well bps...fans of bad movies are an odd bunch so it doesn't really matter if we make sense.
Guest J*ingus Posted April 16, 2002 Report Posted April 16, 2002 A couple of points: 1. Why does Jason kill people, anyway? There's never been a decent explanation given, beyond a half-assed "well, the camp counselors weren't paying attention to him and he died" excuse. Come on, a killer needs a REASON to kill (except for Michael Myers, the "born evil" thing is his gimmick). 2. What the hell is Jason? He's obviously not human, what with all the ridiculous damage he's taken over the course of the series. Is he supposed to be a zombie, or some other form of undead being? (This is assuming we ignore all the Voorhees ancestral monster mumbo-jumbo from Jason Goes To Hell, which was already contradicted by earlier movies.) With logic gaps like that, which are pretty bad even by splatter movie standards, Friday the 13th hasn't exactly been the world's best horror series. I must give credit where it's due, though, in that they at least TRIED to kill Jason permanently and end the series on several occasions (3,4, 8, and 9), which is more than you can say for Halloween (I still haven't forgiven them for letting Michael survive the ending of Part 2).
