Guest Tony149 Posted February 8, 2002 Report Posted February 8, 2002 The 6 man tag titles were pretty much a NWA/WCW thing, but were they a good idea? I kinda liked the titles, it's just that for the time they were around in the late '80s and again in the early '90s the belts got put on teams that sucked. Every time I see a 6 man tag on Raw..."I say at least they didn't debut the WWF 6 man tag titles."
Guest Dark Lotus Posted February 8, 2002 Report Posted February 8, 2002 If you've got the time and the talent to do it, they're a great thing. At the time, tag wrestling was so hot, they could afford to not only have the World and 6-man belts, but also a US Tag. Now though, tag wrestling sucks for the most part and there's no real need for it, especially when you've got so many "superstar" teams out there. It just confuses things way too much to have that many titles.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 8, 2002 Report Posted February 8, 2002 Yeah, tag team wrestling was hot in the '80s. You had the Midnight Express, Rock 'n' Roll Express, Freebirds, Road Warriors, Arn & Tully, the list goes on and on. The 6 Man titles always got stuck not so talented guys ie. Dusty Rhodes & The Road Warriors (They were over though) Ivan Koloff, Nikita Koloff & Krusher Khruschchev (They were around during the "Cold War" so they probably were over), The York Foundation, Freebirds & Badstreet, Dustin Rhodes, Z-Man & Big Josh. The belts looked cool though.
Guest Dark Lotus Posted February 8, 2002 Report Posted February 8, 2002 The thing is though, they had enough guys, they could *afford* to put someone in a 6-man "sideshow" division like that. Plus it was a great way to get more of your roster on each show. Maybe it's not such a bad idea after all, as big as the Whiff's roster is these days...
Guest Tony149 Posted February 8, 2002 Report Posted February 8, 2002 I see your point. It would be weird if the WWF tried it. I wouldn't want a "Super Powers" team holding them, but maybe a team like Booker T & the Dudley's or something like that. When the NWA had the 6 Man tag titles they did a good job of not letting "Super Powers" hold the title. Kinda weird that the Horsemen never got a run with the 6 man titles. Considering the titles came back during the original Horsemen run and they may have had every time at one point.
