Guest pinkslut Report post Posted April 2, 2002 I know a large majority of you are american but this is a real kick ass brithish band- if you get one album by them get the Holy Bible the greatest album ever, doolittle by pixies close second
Guest Anorak Report post Posted April 2, 2002 'The Holy Bible' is a good album but it's certainly not the classic Manics fans claim it is. They have made some good music over the years but they have also released some garbage as well. I don't think they would receive so much attention if it wasn't for their political views or the Richey James mystery, their music doesn't really warrant it. Their anti-American and anti-English crap they spout in interviews really gets on my nerves. They came across really smug when they played that 'special' gig in Cuba the other year and had that sycophantic meeting with Fidel Castro, it was like they had become bad parodies of themselves. There are much better bands in both Britain and America who don't enjoy a very high profile right now compared to the Manics, whose best days already seem behind them. Guest swan Report post Posted April 2, 2002 Yeah I heard of them, not bad. They opened up for somebody in the states several years ago.
Guest muzanisa Report post Posted April 2, 2002 I agree with Anorak. The Holy bible was good but not a classic. BTW have you seen that they might have found Richey's feet?
Guest Anorak Report post Posted April 3, 2002 I think it was confirmed that the feet did not belong to Richey Edwards.
Guest pinkslut Report post Posted April 3, 2002 The shoes that were found were 1st made in 2000 (diadora i think) so they carnt of been his. oh for manics fans in britain on TOTP2 on wednesday is gonna show faster, if you know there was loads of complaints about this after he dressed up like a terrorist. i know a lot of people dont rate the holy bible as much as much as manics fans, but hey we all have different tastes. dunno i rate machina of the gods very high but most people say its shit
Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted April 4, 2002 The Manics have had a good run, but the last two albums have been very weak, and thankfully I think they are splitting up next year after a Greatest Hits album. The Holy Bible is a masterpiece though, definetly one of the most important British records of the last 20 years.
Guest Report post Posted April 5, 2002 The Manics are one of my favorite bands, The Holy Bible to me is every bit the classic that some people claim it to be and Richeys lyrics are truly insightful. Everything must go was also an awesome album. I think the last two albums were somewhat badly done but there are a few gems, and they were great live last summer. Guest muzanisa Report post Posted April 5, 2002 I'm Glad the feet weren't his. I like the idea of him being a monk somewhere and just being really chilled.
Guest Anorak Report post Posted April 5, 2002 If he is still alive i think it's amazingly cruel of him to not let his friends and family know he is alive and well. There must be nothing worse than losing a loved one in those circumstances and never know exactly what happened to them, at least people can grieve properly when they know someone has passed on. For all i know he might have secretly let some people know his wherabouts in confidence but i have a feeling we might never know.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted April 6, 2002 I suspect he is dead, sadly. Who knows though...
