Guest pinkslut Posted April 2, 2002 Report Posted April 2, 2002 1)Siamese Dream 2)mellon collie 3)machina 4)gish 5)adore i left piceses iscariot off as technially its an e.p i change my mind on machina gish and adore but i do think that machina is very underated and carnt understand why it got such bad reviews
Guest Anorak Posted April 2, 2002 Report Posted April 2, 2002 Siamese Dream is my favourite as well, Mellon Collie has a lot of good songs but it's a bit overlong. I didn't really like anything they did after those two albums.
Guest pochorenella Posted April 2, 2002 Report Posted April 2, 2002 100% in agreement with you, pinkslut. Actually the first SP song I ever heard was "Disarm" and I bought the album, then fell in love with it completely. I've been a fan since. Adore was a momentary lapse of reason from Billy Corgan. Peace.
Guest The Man in Blak Posted April 2, 2002 Report Posted April 2, 2002 Sorry, I kind of thought that Siamese Dream was a little bit of "hype" - though I'll agree that Mellon Collie could have been a solid single CD album, I still like Mellon Collie more, just for the better variety of songs and some better songs in general.
Guest Kinetic Posted April 3, 2002 Report Posted April 3, 2002 Siamese Dream is their best album. I think almost everyone's in agreement on that. But Adore, while not a particularly good album, is still miles better than Machina. That's one of the worst albums I've ever purchased. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness would be second, I guess. I've never heard Gish
Guest evenflowDDT Posted April 3, 2002 Report Posted April 3, 2002 I think their best album is Greatest Hits . Seriously though, I'd have to say Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness just ever so slightly beats out Siamese Dream. Siamese Dream is a better overall album, since MCatIS does drag a bit by the second disc, but I like my favorite songs on MCatIS better than my favorite songs on Siamese Dream, so that pushes it ahead for me. Siamese Dream does have a lot better guitar work though. As for Machina, I didn't really get it, and haven't listened to it almost since I bought it because of a weird pressing error so it won't play in my discman. Adore is very underrated, and I haven't heard all of Gish just yet. What about the Pumpkins' soundtrack contributions? I'm not too hip on "The End is the Beginning is the End" from the Batman Forever soundtrack, but "Eye" from Lost Highway is one of my favorite Pumpkins songs.
Guest Catfish Jake Posted April 3, 2002 Report Posted April 3, 2002 first off i consider SP to be the beatles of the 90s, not in terms of popularity but in terms of how much their music changed over the yrs and how all of it was great. my picks for best albums would be.. 1-Adore 2-Mellon Collie 3-Siamese Dream 4-Machina 5-Gish but that being said i think that they're all great and cant really be ranked. Adore was such an awesome album. i guess you could call it billy's first solo album. Machina 2 was also had a ton of great songs on it.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 Siamese Dream, definetly. I don't think MACHINA was as bad as people say, there are some pretty touching songs on there.
Guest Posted April 5, 2002 Report Posted April 5, 2002 Siamese Dream, definately rocks it hard. "mayonaise" is god.
Guest goodhelmet Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Siamese Dream without a doubt. If Mellon Collie was cut down to one disc (my favorites of course) then I would probably like it alot more. Way too much filler. As for Pisces Iscariot, I love that album (how does an album with 13 songs constitute an ep? ).
