Press Releases: PWG ''Bad Ass Mother 3000'' Changes & Video Details!

Posted on Monday, August 25 @ 22:35:18 PDT by Steven Bryant

By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer

LOS ANGELES, California - It wouldn't be a Pro Wrestling Guerrilla show without changes or cancelations, and unfortunately PWG's "Bad Ass Mother 3000" Title Tournament is no exception. First, "Vicious" Vic Grimes will be unable to compete in the tournament due familial obligations, and Excalibur will be unable to compete due to injuries relating to the beating dealt by the X-Foundation at APW LA.

However, it also wouldn't be a PWG show without some fantastic substitutions. Taking Excalibur's place in his match with "Classic" Colt Cabana will be the man who impressed quite a few people at PWG's debut show, MDogg 20! After his epic battle with Super Dragon, the PWG "brass" thought it would be only fitting to give M-Dogg a chance to be the first ever Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Champion!

Taking the place of "Vicious" Vic Grimes will be a former ally of TARO, a man who gave TARO insight into the intricacies of international competition, his opponent will be none other than NOSAWA. While the PWG's "brass" maintains a strong anti-Japanese stance due to the events of Pearl Harbor, Commissioner Paul T. used Clause 24.ii.a2 of his PWG contract stating that one competitor of Japanese origin may be booked on each show. When notified of the change, TARO became enraged, saying that no competitor with more capital letters in their name than TARO's should be allowed to compete for the title.

The new tournament brackets are as follows:

East Side:

Disco Machine vs. Adam Pearce

Scorpio Sky vs. Joey Ryan

Colt Cabana vs. MDogg 20

Hook Bomberry vs. Super Dragon

West Side:

Frankie Kazarian vs. Scott Lost

Tony Kozina vs. B-Boy

TARO vs. NOSAWA

Christopher Daniels vs. Hardkore Kidd

Over the course of two days (August 29 & 30, 2003,) sixteen men will battle for the honor of becoming PWG Champion, and you, the Southern California fans, have the opportunity to experience every second of it LIVE! The opening round of the tournament will be held Friday, August 29, at the American Legion Eagle Rock, with seating extremely limited. The very next day, August 30, at Frank & Son's Collectible Showcase, will feature the conclusion of the tournament, and the crowning of a champion!

Tickets for each day are $20, or can be bought for both days at a special price of $30. Pre-orders will be available online at http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com or offline at the Alternative Wrestling Shop this Wednesday!

Also, PWG is pleased to announce that VHS & DVD copies of the debut show will be available for purchase at both days of the "Bad Ass Mother 3000." The VHS version will be priced at $18, while the 2-Disc DVD version will be $20. Get your copies early, especially since Granparent's Day is right around the corner, and Gram & Pappy would like nothing better than the intense action only PWG can provide!

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's "Bad Ass Mother 3000 - Stage 1" is taking place on Friday, August 29, 2003, with doors opening at 7:30PM and 8:00PM belltime. American Legion Eagle Rock is located at 2109 Merton Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90041.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's "Bad Ass Mother 3000 - Stage 2" is taking place on Saturday, August 30, 2003, with doors opening at 1:30PM and 2:00PM belltime. Frank & Son's Collectible Showcase is located at 19649 San Jose Ave., City of Industry, CA, 91748. For more information, please visit http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com or email [email protected]"

This could turn out to be the greatest SoCal shows ever.. with some great potential match ups, So if you are in the area check it out live and if you live elsewhere... at least buy the tapes/DVDs (which I assume with be available shortly at the website) It'll be worth it.

Grimes is off the card! Damn, that really sux! I mark for that SOB. Awesome card, though, and it's awesome to know that NOSAWA will be there.

It does suck, Mainly because I thought the most interesting matches in the opening round were Grimes Vs. Taro and Cabana Vs. Excalibur, But they did find worthy replacements however.

I hope to God M-Dogg wins. You can see Cabana compete in IWC, ROH, IWA, etc. You can't see M-Dogg in many promotions, so there's no point of putting Cabana over him. M-Dogg should be a regular in PWG. Cabana being a regular would make no sense b/c he's already a major star. PWG can push M-Dogg and give him the popularity he had in CZW.

I agree on the point about building their own star, but not MDogg please. I mean Dragon already went over MDogg at the first PWG show, so their's no need for a rematch unless MDogg's going over. If they have MDogg wrestle 3 matches "By God" that show will suckl

I think Cabana's winning.... last minute replacements in tournaments never seem to make it past the first round

And Barber, since you seem to know alittle about M-Dogg...

Are these PWG shows the only shows he's worked without Josh? It always seems that they are on every card together and it's odd to see one without the other.

I predict Super Dragon vs Frankie Kazarian in the finals, with Frankie becoming the first PWG champ.

Could happen... but I'd put money on it being a Super Dragon Vs. Chris Daniels Final with SD going over. SD is 1-5 in his career in tourneys I just don't see him booking himself to lose.

It's a joke... these press releases are pretty much just parodies.

I don't think SD should win, because he runs the promotion. So Frankie and B-Boy are the two best choices, but they should save SD/B-Boy for a match with more meaning, even though the finals of the toruny is big, but I would like to see them wrestle with a feud surrounding it.

I'm not a major fan of M-Dogg, butI guess I come across one, kinda. I just think he gets a bit too much heat. Sure, he's a spot machine, but he's even more amazing than Red in some respects. Shooting star press DDTs, handspring inverted ranas, etc., he's amazing.

Good observation. never thought about it until now, but I think ur about right - this is about the only show hes worked without Josh, besides a couple of Union of Indy Pro Wrestlers shows in PA where he was the only big name (KingdomJames.com is the official UIPW site) and 1 or two IWC shows (one of whcich comes to midn is the 12/6/02 show when he wrestled CM Punk). They usually do work together, though.

I'd rule out B-Boy since he has his CZW/MLW bookings and may even get to go to Toryumon or Zero-One if things work out. What good is a champion that's always unavailable?

But you've got a point, There's no glory in booking yourself to win a tournament (Ask Ian Rotten, I think he'd know) If not Dragon, I think it'd be Frankie or Daniels (for name value) or maybe an Underdog like Joey Ryan or Scott Lost.

I agree, He's quite a sight to behold live. Spot wise he's one of the best there is (when he doesn't blow them that is)

Cool I was right!

That you were.... I thought for sure it would be Dragon (But I did like the way he was eliminated, that bump he took to the floor was sick)

Anyway, It was a really awesome show all around with everyone delivering... def. buy the tape/dvd when comes out.
