Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted April 2, 2002 Ken Patera, the name alone once commanded respect. A olympic weightlifter and one of the first IC champions, a big part of the classic 1985 Andre The Giant haircut angle and a decent wrestler in gereral. Of course that was then and this is now. Actually the attitude of that came in 1987 when Patera went back to the WWF. Where was he you ask?...PRISON. In May of 1984 or 1985 (I'm not sure of the year). Patera and Mr. Saito went to McDonalds for some food and they were closed. When Patera and Saito were refused servince what do you think they did? A. Go to Burger King? B. Order Pizza C. Throw a boulder through the window. If you said A or B hit back, you have no business reading this. So after they got to their hotel they fought some cops and went to prison for 2 years. For those 2 years. The WWF had great shows and some good feuds. Then Ken Patera came back. The storyline for his return was Gene interviewing him WHILE HE WAS STILL IN PRISON, come on, who would buy that anyways? So he gets out and he's mad. Who's he mad at? Saito? McDonalds? Himself? Of course not he's mad at Bobby Heenan for not visiting him in the slammer. It's not like Heenan was busy managing Paul Orndorf in a main event feud with Hogan or anything. Heenan says its not his problem because his only job is to get his wrestlers in the ring. So Gene wants a debate on TV. The debate pretty much features Heenan calling him "Ex Con" and Patera whining about Heenan not visiting him or his family. Then Heenan family memnbers beat down Patera. Ken Patera has some crappy matches with Herculez then calls in a favor from Hogan to be his partner. They do some tag matches and the Heenan feud ends. Then it happened, Ken Patera did what so many wrestlers did after him. Ahmed Johnson, Vader, LOD, He outlived his usefulness. Ken Patera became Mr. Jobber. Patera formed a team with Billy Jack Haynes who spent a month or so jobbing to Demolition before Haynes left. November 1987 rolls around to the first ever Survivor Series. The main event is Hogan, Patera, Orndorf, Muraco, and Bam Bam Bigelow VS Andre, Bundy, Rick Rude, Butch Reed, and One Man Gang. This set up a great opportunity for a Hogan beat down as Muraco and Orndorf already beat his ass before, Bigelow was a great heel in Memphis and Patera was useless. But NO they all got squashed exept Hogan who got counted out. Next, Patera feuded with Dino Bravo over a strong man competion. I know Patera did a demonstration on TV and Jesse Ventura helped but I'm not sure if Patera had anything to do with this. For the first half of 1988 Patera jobbed to Dino Bravo (one match is on Best of WWF volume 17). Patera could have entered Wrestlemania I in a great feud after the Andre angle. Wrestlemania IV had him in the opening match Battle Royal. Summerslam 1988 Patera jobbed to Bad News Brown in something like 5 minutes. Patera left the WWF afterwards since no one gave a rats ass about him or he was fired for sucking, I don't know. He turned up in the AWA. I don't know where he is now and you know what? Say it with me now....I DON'T CARE! This has been Black Tiger bringing you...The Crap Chronicles. Sometime later when I feel like it.....Don Muraco turns face and sucks at it.
