Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2003 Ok I was just watching some old WWF tapes of mine around the time that Austin was getting hot. The fans started going crazy for him because of his rebellious attitude and because he was something that nobody had ever seen before. Then the WWF finally had no choice but to push him. And I really don't think The Rock's push was anything like this...sure Rock got over on his charisma but there was something more special about Austin's explosion. Now I was wondering how are they EVER going to do this again? I mean Austin was a bad-ass that didn't listen to anybody(which is every main-event face these days) so how would a wrestler strike hot like he did? The only one I can forsee doing it at this time is Eddie. I mean he's starting to get to that point and I can see it happening...but you know it'll get fucked up. Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted September 7, 2003 For starters they need to listen to the fans. RVD, Benoit post RR03 and Eddie right now were perfect chances to make a huge star but both times the WWF stuck it's head in the sand and jobbed both guys until the fans didn't care anymore. Papacita 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2003 That's the most sensible method right there. Start structuring their shows to build around the strengths of their most popular stars rather than holding them back because of their "weaknesses". I dunno if they can make another Austin, but that would be a good start.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2003 Geez, I've seen double posting before, but never a double thread-starter. And with WWE trying to control every little reaction to get what they think should be a correct response, it can NEVER happen. Austin was someone who got a completely unforeseen response, and Vince had no choice but to put him on top. It can't happen now.
