IWD 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2003 Thanks to everyone who responded to my previous posts asking who various wrestlers were from Nitro shows in '96 and '97. This final post lists the people I don't know from January 1998 until the end of the run. If anyone who could tell me anything about them (other gimmicks, etc.,) then that would be great. Cool. Fökai 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2003 Reese (tagged with Horace Boulder to beat Juventud Guerrera & Van Hammer, 8th June 1998) ...aka "Big Ron Studd". Was a GIANT motherf**er who served as fodder for Goldberg. He served as a comic relief for me, when he regularly piggybacked Kidman to the ring for a Raven promo. Dale Torberg (beat Kendall Windham, 11th October 1998) See the Demon, but without the facepaint. He had the gimmick of a race car driver (which I believe was legitimate), but he tore his knee up in this match and returned as Demon in 1999. “Fan” (lost to Ernest Miller, 18th October 1998) A plant from the independents, I'd assume. Will Sasso (lost to Bret Hart, 16th February 1999) Actor/comedian from "MAD TV". Bret worked an angle with the guy (including a work/shoot angle on a MADTV episode). The Misfits (tagged with Vampiro to lose to Berlyn & The Wall, 15th November 1999) A well-known rock band. Real-life friends with Vampiro, so they willingly came in to work an angle alongside of him. Spice (beat Tygress, 22nd November 1999). Both were Nitro Girls. Jerry Only (tagged with The Misfits to beat Steve Williams & Oklahoma, 29th November 1999) Frontman for the Misfits. Midnight (lost to Curt Hennig, 29th November 1999) Linda Miles clone who was "a sister" of Booker and Stevie Ray. Booker, being the face at that time, stuck up for her. Stevie turned on them both and aligned with "Big T" (Ahmed Johnson) and Clarence Mason (aka the short black lawyer from the HBK/Bulldog feud in 1996). The Maestro (lost to Prince Iaukea, 13th December 1999) Decent wrestler. He was originally booked to wrestle under his gimmick name (Gorgeous George III), but WCW introduced Savage's new girlfriend (Stephane Bellars) under that name. He had a half-decent valet to accompany him, but I'm blanking on that person's name. The worst part of his gimmick? As his entrance, he would be lowered to the stage entrance by a giant platform, while playing a piano positioned on said platform.....YES, he had the Liberace/Adrian Street gimmick. Buzzkill (lost to Madusa, 20th December 1999) Brad Armstrong, during the atrocious "Let's get him over impersonating his brother" period. The Dog (beat Evan Karagias, 6th March 2000) aka "Al Green". The gimmick took a more literal meaning, when he began to adorn the traits of a dog....you can fill in the blanks there. Miss Jones (lost to Jeff Jarrett, 11st September 2000) An DA-YUM FINE female who served as Ernest Miller's valet. M I Smooth (lost to Bill Goldberg, 4th December 2000) aka "Ice Train". Played the gimmick of a limosuine driver who would be bribed to rat on wrestler's actions while in his limosuine. “Phony Dusty Rhodes” (lost to Jeff Jarrett, 5th March 2001) Ric Flair under heavy make-up. Guest ToddRoyal Report post Posted September 9, 2003 (edited) Emory Hale Big bald guy, Jimmy Hart's protege and a guy that would end up following Hart to the XWF etc. I THINK he's hospitalized right now in fairl serious condition. Len Denton One of the legendary masked Grapplers was Len Denton, its not exactly a common name, so I assume its the same guy. Bull Pain Indy guy, wrestled for ECW and in Memphis before this, did a lot with IWA: Mid-south after. Hardcore-brawler type Chase Tatum Powerplant guy. Teamed breifly with Master P's "No Limit Army" in the Redneck/rapper fued. Shane Virgil/Vincent/Curly Bill in another of his "name of the competition" gimmicks, this time making fun of Shane McMahon Air Paris AJ Styles regular tag team partner at the time, in Air Raid, these guys were the only two to really come up from WCW's "development deal" with NWA Wildside at the time. Paris is pretty much out of the business now if I remember right. The Maestro (lost to Prince Iaukea, 13th December 1999) Decent wrestler. He was originally booked to wrestle under his gimmick name (Gorgeous George III), but WCW introduced Savage's new girlfriend (Stephane Bellars) under that name. He had a half-decent valet to accompany him, but I'm blanking on that person's name That was "Symphony" AKA Ryan Shamrock Edited September 9, 2003 by ToddRoyal
Golgo 13 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2003 The Misfits Jerry Only Ahem. The Misfits aren't just well-known, but are fucking legends. Nothing against you, Andy, but I shook my head when I saw this. Maestro To elaborate on one of bravesfan's responses, the name of the Maestro's valet was Symphony, otherwise known as Ryan Shamrock and Alicia Webb. Reese It should also be noted that Reese played The Yeti in Kevin Sullivan's Dungeon of Doom. EDIT: Todd Damn You! I would've and should've had the answer to the Maestro thing earlier, but my net went on the fritz.
Fökai 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2003 I THINK he's hospitalized right now in fairl serious condition. IIRC, Hale contracted pneumonia after serious complications from his kidney surgery.
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2003 Little Jeanie (lost to Mona, 9th August 1999) She was an indy women's wrestler, brought in to give Mona something to do, basically. Her and Brandi Alexander seemed to have a few feuds on Saturday Night with Mona. She also wrestles as "Sweet Destiny" in the indies. And, oh yeah, I had to be one of the few people who marked out for MI Smooth. *sigh* I miss WCW.
Golgo 13 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2003 Black Cat I'm guessing it was this guy... http://www.highspots.com/arena/prof/blackcat.htm Mystery Partner Now that I remember, I think this was Ralphus.
IWD 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2003 The Misfits Jerry Only Ahem. The Misfits aren't just well-known, but are fucking legends. Nothing against you, Andy, but I shook my head when I saw this. I'm a Brit (which is why I saw very little of Nitro) and British music and American music is very different in terms of what gets promoted and stuff. Thanks for all the information people - much appreciated. Hopefully some more to come too. Cool.

I didn't know what i hated more, watching the misfits in the ring in wcw or when they were with the oddities (i assume it was the same group?)
Guest ToddRoyal Report post Posted September 10, 2003 I didn't know what i hated more, watching the misfits in the ring in wcw or when they were with the oddities (i assume it was the same group I think you're thinking about the Insane Clown Posse. ICP was the group that was with the oddities in the WWF and then went to WCW where they were treated as actual wrestlers and formed the Deadpool stable with Raven and Vampiro. They also had their own fed (Juggalo Championsh*t Wrestling) at one point The Misfits were a different band (one that Vampiro claimed to play backup for at somepoint) that were also associated with Vamp in WCW, actually wrestling a cage match at one time. Misfits are the face-painted rock group, ICP is the face painted rap group.
Guest Galactic Gigolo Report post Posted September 13, 2003 Attitude - Muscled jobber who hung around on Saturday Night for a while. Johnny Moon - Actually a WCW referee at one point. Emery Hale - Big motherfucker who did the "Hale" gimmick on WCW Saturday Night shortly before Russo canceled it. Had Sullivan stayed on as a booker, GAB 2000 probably would've seen Hale vs. Hogan for the WCW Title. Patty Stonegrinder - Ugly, fat lady. Chase Tatum - Very, very cut guy who, when he first appeared on WCW SN, a few people figured he'd wind up being something. Apparently he had a bad attitude and horrible skills to boot, so once the posse broke up, he was released. Johnny Boone - Referee who got angry with Karagias. Madusa made out of with him, and Evan scored the win. Never mentioned again. Jason Lee - Indy guy brought in as fodder when the WCW geniuses decided to do a WCW Cruiserweight Tag Title Tournament with a serious lack of Cruiserweights. He had a half-decent valet to accompany him, but I'm blanking on that person's name. It was the woman who played Ryan Shamrock and she was named Symphony in WCW. Get it? WCW in '96 steals Hall and Nash and three years later the best they are doing is stealing a stripper who played a midcarder's brother.

I saw a pic of him in the costume on Google. Edited September 13, 2003 by LaParkaYourCar
