Guest bdolo Report post Posted April 3, 2002 i have seen many people on this board and others wonder why they did'nt debut the unified belt earlier. and for all the HHH haters out their they will love this. Now that there is only going to be one title, where do you think will happen to the old wcw and wwf title? I am pretty sure they will be hanging on HHH wall or in some trophy case. As you know the title holders actually are responsible for the belts. So if hhh has them now he will most likely keep them. You might ask, but what if another wrestler wants them, like if Booker T wanted the wcw belt for all his hard work in wcw. Well, I am sure HHH can just tell Vince or Steph to tell Booker that they are going to do something else with them or something The bottom line is that HHH wanted to have the belts for his own personal keepsake and most likely told the vince or steph to hold off on the new belt so if jericho got it he could'nt question whoever when they asked for the old belts. Guest bdolo Report post Posted April 4, 2002 They just don't keep making new belts everytime they change hands, so that anybody that wins the title can keep to, there is only one belt and if you win it you get to keep it and are responsible for it, but if the are going to only have a new belt what are they going to do with the old ones, HHH will keep them since he is a egomaniac
Guest Mole Report post Posted April 4, 2002 You guys are kidding right? Triple-H doesn't get to keep the old WWF and WCW belts. That WCW belt has a lot of history behind it, and I think Vince would want it. If anything, Steph has them..
Guest Mik at Cornell Report post Posted April 4, 2002 I just always assumed that they made a new belt for each champion. Why else would a lot of different wrestlers have world title belts in their houses?
Guest Brian Report post Posted April 4, 2002 Some have customs like Austin, or were the last people to hold a certain design. But usually Vince has most of the old ones. The real reason is probably becuase, since the wrestlers travel and are usually responsible for the belts, Vince probably only wants them carrying one belt and wants to keep each of them as a momento as the end of an era. You know, they also probably wanted Jericho to have both of the belts to rub it in others faces who thought he couldn't succeed. Another thing that makes a little sense as they wanted ot get the visual of a person holding two belts, and being signified as a single champion. No doubt though that the booking team probably wanted to start off on a new footnote after they thought Jericho's reign to be a disaster, plus they've started over in terms of the split. Guest Slapnuts00 Report post Posted April 4, 2002 No, no this guy has a point. I remember reading recently that Rhyno got to keep the ECW world and TV titles, and someone posted that at Axxes Rhyno told him that he was pissed because someone broke into his house and stole the TV title. So in all likelyhood, Triple H gets to keep both belts...damn. O and the original NWA/WCW belt belongs to Hulk Hogan I believe since Russo let him have it as the "Hulk Hogan Memorial" at Bash At The Beach 2000. The one they used since then is actually a replica. Guest Smeghead Report post Posted April 4, 2002 They just don't keep making new belts everytime they change hands Actually, they do. When a new champion is crowned, he/she gets a brand new belt. The former champ keeps the old belt and adds it to his/her trophy case, mantle, closet, trunk of the car, etc.
Guest Mik at Cornell Report post Posted April 4, 2002 I thought they got to keep the belts! I knew I read that somewhere.
Guest Report post Posted April 4, 2002 I've heard this reported alot (You get to keep the belt and they make a new one when you lose the title) but how do they explain (The only example I can think of now) in '99 the Intercontinental title? It was passed around like candy between Jarrett, D'Lo, Edge, Road Dogg, and a host of others during 1999 and when Chyna won it, they finally got a new one, all shiney and whatnot, though when the others won it, it seemed to be the same one every time, and it was very dull looking, and had the old WWF pre-attitude logo. Guest JHawk Report post Posted April 4, 2002 Maybe they get some cheap replica made and give that to them. I don't know, but I know Bret Hart got all his. Well, maybe not the last one. I'd hate to see how they'd give everybody their copy of the Hardcore Title.

WHere do you people come up with this news? Any verifiable source? This is like reading the tabloids, only it is even more insane, because everyone seems to buy it. *slowly losing it* As an aside, I do not profess to know how the belt situation works, but I know that some people get to keep their belt. Whether it is a copy of the original, or a copy gets passed to the new champion, I know for a fact that Mick FOley and Triple H both have World Championship Belts hanging in their homes (Mick Foley says so in his book and Triple H says so in the WWF magazine special on him). I would guess that it only goes for world champions of prominence (i.e. The Rock probably has one but the Big Show probably does not). Just my guess on the issue. I have seen several wcw and wwf magazines were they showcased superstars homes and they do have replicas of the belts they have won.

Guest 5_moves_of_doom Report post Posted April 4, 2002 In Foley's 2nd book didn't he mention that he wanted to let his kids play with the belt and stuff before he had to give it away when he lost it? If I remember correctly, this means that wrestler's don't get to keep their belts, or maybe only some do.
Guest Midnight Express83 Report post Posted April 4, 2002 I have read that they keep the belt to take care of it. Dynamite Kid says in his book that he had the tag team title with him and when he got injuried, Vince sent Bret to get the titles. Wrestlers have copies of titles, except Ric Flair, Moohlah, Austin, Jerry Lawler, and Rhyno. Ric Flair owns the real Big gold belt. Reason he was champ all the time. Moohlah owns the old women's champion belt(baby blue on), Austin owns the smoking skull belt, Lawler owns the USWA and MCW "world" titles, and Rhyno has the ECW titles, only because they were pay offs for him working without getting paid. There might be more but I think it goes like this.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted April 4, 2002 I don't think they give every chamop a copy of the belt they one, if the guy asks they might but would it be worth it to give Kane a new belt for his 1 day run? I don't think so. Bret Hart probably asked for a copy of each title he won (he only has the plates, no the leather belt part on display) because he's an egomaniac who's a mark for himself and his gimmick. Austin probably has the "Smoking Skull" belt becaus eit was made for him. Rock might have a copy, HHH probably does as well, but I don't think Iron Shiek and Sid got copies. Actually, Hogan got the WCW World Title they had made when Flair left for the WWF with the NWA belt. Booker T was actually the last person to hold the REAL WCW/NWA Title(the bent one) and the one the WWF has used was a replica. So, I think Booker still holds the original while Trips has the replica the WWF had made.

Guest Vyce Report post Posted April 4, 2002 Shit, now I'm all angry at the thought that maybe that idiot David Arquette is running around with his own copy of the WCW / NWA belt. I don't really see why they wouldn't let a wrestler have a copy of the belt he / she won. I mean hell, people sell cheap knockoffs online and through mags for 200 bucks a pop. I don't see why the WWF couldn't make a relatively cheap copy of the belt, and either give or sell it to the wrestler who requested it.
Guest HellSpawn Report post Posted April 4, 2002 My god, you people are amazing. One guy creates a fantasy news, and you (as usual) jump into the I hate HHH train. HHH in fact, owns a REPLICA OF THE WWF belt, and he got that REPLICA way back in 2000 or 2001.

Guest the living legend Report post Posted April 6, 2002 I'm pretty sure that the old belts go in a showcase in WWF "HQ". All the other old "retired" ones did if im not mistaken. I think that HHH's ego was behind him getting the belt so it would make his reign seem more important then Jericho's but maybe its just cause I like Jericho
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Report post Posted April 6, 2002 In a WWF RAW Magazine article way back, it talked about how Big Show felt the day after he lost the Title when he realized that he couldn't carry the belt around with him any more. Oh, and if everybody got to keep their title, why is there a 'Property of the WWF' plate on every belt?
