Guest Mudshark Posted April 3, 2002 Report Posted April 3, 2002 OK, so I heard that on Raw Bubba finally hit his Senton, but it got me thinking about oher moves that never managed to hit. I always remember Ted DiBiase going up to the second turnbuckle while his opponent was down, standing up there for about a minute tehn falling backwards. Of course, the other guy had always got up by this point, so Ted always ended up rolling over backwards, getting beaten up by the face and then losing the match. I guess I have two questions stemming from this 1) What move was he going for anyway? 2) Did he ever anyone with it? I've seen just about all the WWF PPVs Ted wrestled on, and it never hit, but how about on the regular shows, or even house shows? Thanks
Guest MasterMadness Posted April 3, 2002 Report Posted April 3, 2002 Dibiase was going for a back elbow off the second rope. He did miss it every time against a name wrestler, yet whenever he wrestled a jobber he never went for the move.
Guest Tony149 Posted April 3, 2002 Report Posted April 3, 2002 Another move that never hits most of the time was Flair's double axe handle from the top rope. Arn Anderson also missed his version of the Vader Bomb a lot.
Guest crandamaniac Posted April 3, 2002 Report Posted April 3, 2002 Speaking of flair, did he ever hit any move after he'd do his flip over the turnbuckle?
Guest Tony149 Posted April 3, 2002 Report Posted April 3, 2002 Speaking of flair, did he ever hit any move after he'd do his flip over the turnbuckle? Flair hit a flying cross-body block from the top rope on Barry Windham at Slamboree '94 to get the pin.
Guest krambigmac Posted April 3, 2002 Report Posted April 3, 2002 I love the Flair Flip. The best one was when Flair flipped(obviously) and then went towards the top. As he jumps to climb up top, Steamboat chops the hell out of him and Flair goes down. It was in 89. I always thought a cool way for him to do it in a battle royal would be to land on the apron and when someone charges at him, he could just pull down the top rope and slide in under the ropes. It'd be risky to do that though in case he messed up. That's probably why in Rumble 92 he half flipped so he never made it to the apron.
Guest JHawk Posted April 3, 2002 Report Posted April 3, 2002 Doesn't exactly count in the topic, but has anybody ever successfully power bombed Billy Kidman? He always seems to counter out of it.
Guest krambigmac Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 I know Kidman has been powerbombed but I can't give you dates because I don't remember. I know Malenko and Jericho did it but when Jericho did it, Kidman was a flock member so maybe he didn't have the reversal yet.
Guest Tony149 Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 The finish of the 1992 Royal Rumble seemed like it was supposed to involve the "Flair Flop", but Flair botched the move (Most likely due to wrestling over 55 minutes). I don't think Kidman has ever been Powerbombed as a face. He probably took some as a heel.
Guest hobu0 Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 How about this one. Whenever Bret Hart did his patented elbow off the second ropes, he'd almost always hit it. If he didn't hit it, it was because his opponent put his foot up. Bret NEVER actually misses that elbow and hits canvas. However, whenever he tries like a normal flying elbow from the second rope, the opponent always moves. He NEVER hit that elbow.
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 Hogan powerbombed Kidman through the announce table when they were feuding in April 99. He did it twice I believe but the table didn't break the first time.
Guest JHawk Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 Hogan powerbombed Kidman through the announce table when they were feuding in April 99. He did it twice I believe but the table didn't break the first time. Wait a sec. That had to be PPV, because I didn't know Hogan even had a power bomb in his arsenal.
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 It was a Nitro. It might have even been the April 10th edition where Russo and Bischoff came back into power.
Guest Tony149 Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 That was Spring Stampede 2000. It was more of a double hand choke slam, as Hogan grabbed Kidman by the throat and slammed him on the announce table, but it didn't break so he did it again.
Guest crandamaniac Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 I know this is way off topic, but hypothetical situation here: Undertaker goes to powerbomb Kidman, but what happens? We all know YOU CAN'T POWERBOMB KIDMAN, but UT doesn't sell anything, so what then?
Guest Some Guy Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 Luger, Taker, and Kane all did the same jumping elbow and almost never hit it. It basicallt ammounted to a jumping flat back bump. SK called Luger's "the elbow which doth never hits". Test rarely hits teh Meltdown. AA always ended up crotching himself on his opponents knees when he tried to whopee cushion them.

Guest Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 Another always missed move comes from the Barberian He use to attempt a Second rope elbow drop, sometimes actually stepping on the rope to deliver it, but always misses.
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 Kurt Angles moonsault could also be considered although I have seen him it it twice. Once when he broke Hardcore Holly's arm and once against Austin, either at Summerslam or Unforgiven.
Guest RetroRob215 Posted April 5, 2002 Report Posted April 5, 2002 I was going to say Kurt Angle's moonsault too. If he never broke Hardcore's arm with it, I'm sure he would hit it more often than not. Austin is the only guy with enough balls to take it.
Guest y2jailbait Posted April 5, 2002 Report Posted April 5, 2002 It seemed to me that late in The BRitish Bulldog's career he couldnt hit that damn Running powerslam to save his life, but really how could that move put anyone out??????????
Guest godthedog Posted April 5, 2002 Report Posted April 5, 2002 angle's hit triple h with it too. once at unforgiven, & i think once more at the rumble.
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 5, 2002 Report Posted April 5, 2002 also rhyno always tries that splash from the top rope and always lands flat on the canvas. he even brought that one from ecw to the wwf.
Guest eiker_ir Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Angle hited RVD with the moonsault at No Mercy 01 too......
Guest Your Olympic Hero1 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 How about JYD's headbutts? He missed them 90% of the time by at least 2 inches, but his opponents sold them like they got whacked by a friggin' baseball bat.
Guest alfdogg Posted April 10, 2002 Report Posted April 10, 2002 D-Lo's moonsault always missed, as did Boss Man's top rope splash, Yoko's running senton, and that's all i can think of that hasn't been said already. Except for Lita's moonsault, of course, because she always fucks up. Oh, and Undertaker's punches. Ric Flair's move off the top is a chop, ala Ricky Steamboat, btw.
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted April 14, 2002 Report Posted April 14, 2002 Speaking of which, backslides never get a pin and people have thankfully stopped using them. At Clash 10, Dr Death pins the samoan savage with one and thats the only time i remember one scoring a pin. A small package never gets a pin either. Sting pinned Flair at GAB 90 with one and i havent seen many after that.
Guest krambigmac Posted April 14, 2002 Report Posted April 14, 2002 Small packages work every once in a while but backslides are very rare. That Clash match, Kerry Von Erich beating Flair for the belt was another but I can't think of anymore.
