Guest cap'ndave Report post Posted April 3, 2002 Okay, so I'm a little behind the times . . . I just traded my old N64 for a PSone (I'm a poor college student, and I can't afford a PS2 right now), and I'm looking for some recommendations for good games. I tend to like third person adventure games (like Tomb Raider), as well as first person shooters (like Doom). I'd also like comments on your favorite wrestling games-- the main reason I switched to playstation is that I'd played out every wrestling game on the 64. I just picked up Smackdown 2, and so far I love it! Thanks
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted April 4, 2002 First of all, Metal Gear Solid is the best game for the system and a must have. If you like third person adventures, try the Siphon Filter series or Dino Crisis 2 (Dino Crisis 1 is more Survival/Horror). You are in trouble with first person shooters. The Medal of Honor series is the obvious choice, but realistically first person shooters are much better on the N64.
Guest Report post Posted April 4, 2002 My PS reccomendations: Powerslave- A Egyptian themed FPS that I've heard good things about. It's old, so you can probably find it on the cheep. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1-3 Any of these games is pure playing satisfaction. 2 is especially reccomended. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Probably the deepest 2D game you'll find on the PS. RPG elements and the Metroid-esque level design help add to the great old school Castlevania elements. Resident Evil 1-3 Bad voice acting aside, these are great pieces of survival horror. Street Fighter Alpha 3 The best 2D fighter on the system. A great deal of replay value to be had here, as it features a great World Tour mode, where you build up your fighters attributes, and just about every SF character ever. Super Puzzle Fighter Turbo A very fun and addictive puzzle game featuring Capcom's Street Fighter characters. Tekken 3 Great fighter with many characters and hidden modes. WWF Smackdown! 2 While Scottsman will probably skin me for saying this, this is the only wrestling game on PS that I've enjoyed. R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 Best arcade racer on the PS. Not as many cars or the attention to realism that the GT games have, but it has charms beyond that. EA's NHL Series Quality hockey gaming. Vagrant Story Overlooked and underrated. A very fun Action-RPG.

Guest areacode212 Report post Posted April 4, 2002 Well, I don't have a PS1, but if I did, the first game I would buy (or at least borrow) would be the mighty TEKKEN 3! (Yes, Sakura, I know it's 2 sequels old. Who cares? I still love it).
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted April 4, 2002 --Twisted Metal 2. Best of the series, by far. --Pretty much any of the EA sports games (NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB)
Guest KoR Fungus Report post Posted April 5, 2002 I'd say that the definitive PS1 games are Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy 7 and Tekken 3. You should get all of them regardless of whether you're typically a fan of those genres. I'd also strongly recommend Soul Blade if you like fighting games at all, and definitely Final Fantasy Anthology if you haven't played FF3 on the SNES. I can't recommend any other games in the genres you mentioned, because I don't like those genres.
Guest MoeGamer Report post Posted April 5, 2002 If you want just mindless, kill everything you see action, try Loaded and ReLoaded. Soulblade was good, Metal of Honor and Thrill Kill. Yeah, I know , but you get a copy. Nothing better than midgets on stilts!
Guest Report post Posted April 6, 2002 Can't believe I forgot Soul Blade... anyway, also reccomended is Namco's Ace Combat series. Quality dog fighting which can probably also be found cheep. If you can get past the training level, I hear Driver's fun also.

Guest Star Ocean 3 Report post Posted April 6, 2002 Xenogears is really all you need. But if you want more than that, get Star Ocean 2, Valkyrie Profile, Dragon Warrior VII, Tales of Destiny 1 and 2, SaGa Frontier 1 and 2, Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 9, Final Fantasy Anthology and Chronicles, Wild ARMs 1 and 2, Chrono Cross, Arc the Lad Collection, Grandia, and possible Suikoden 1 and 2.
