Making the band

Now this is somewhat judging it before it comes out but their first single isn't bad, it's just not what you would put out as a first single. It has no hook I believe, it features only four of the six members of the group, and IMO the best rapper is drowned out at first (Babs). Way to try and mold Sara into what your version of R&B should be Diddy and then not use her. I'm downloading some other tracks off the album now but I just think that was a horrible song for a single.

Where the hell is O-town no adays? They are nowhere, because they suck and you can't take ANY group of kids and make them famous.

Well I just downloaded some other tracks off the album and it seems like everything but the one they're promoting is good. I personally would have made "Tonight" the debut single as it has all six, has a tight beat, and a nice hook.

*thinks about R&B in the last decade*

Mary J Blidge...Faith...112...Jodeci...Total...Carl Thomas....

I think that Puffy has a very good grip on what R&B should be..

O-Town had their second album out earlier this year, and had a Top 40 hit with "These Are The Days" and followed it up with "I Showed Her", which didn't get as much airplay but was still a damn good song. They actually tweaked their sound to more of a rock beat, and I was pretty impressed with the transition. "From The Damage" was a great song, and most people have no clue it's O-Town when I play it.

Now a days the music biz is all about image and having members with achne scars is not going to sell alot of albums. I think maybe 1 or 2 member have a future other than that Da Band will disappear like that guy from American Idol with the hair what's his name.........Justin something.

I know he made stars but the point is, he changed her then didn't even use her in the debut single. That's a total waste.

When I was living in the UK there was a "created" band called Girls Aloud that was doing pretty well. The difference was that they were bubblegum pop sung by a group of WICKED hot girls. That's a better combination than Da Band (or whatever they're called).

So, I guess I'm saying that you can take a group of nobodies and make them famous, they just need to be really hot, and aimed at teenyboppers.

I hate shows like American Idol and Making The Band and American Juniors. It proves EVERYTHING that is wrong with the music industry. You're a decent singer with passable looks? You're in the contest. You sound like EVERY OTHER FUCKING SINGER ON THE MARKET TODAY? You win!

Instead of offering indie acts a chance to become famous (which, I think, would be a GREAT show, kinda like how I wicked dug VH1's Bands On The Run), they offer kids a chance to be like every other act.

I remember seeing part of an episode of Diddy's "Making Da Band." He had them running miles. I was like "and this has to do with music HOW?!"

XXL magazine gave the Da Band M (medium) and thats somewhat bad. Dylan and Sara (she is nice looking) are only ones that have a future and the rest of them are garbage. P. Diddy screwed them over their contract, that goes to show:

Too many members in one group= no money

I personally hate Dylan and reggae in general. I think Sara and Babs are the only ones who have any sort of potential because there can never be too many ghetto bitches from Brooklyn or R&B singers.

The two winners of American Idol have been far from the norm in music industry. Now those leading up to it on the other hand....

And DYLAN, ant? That dude sucks beyound all life. I say NONE of them had the talent to make it on their own, and Sarah is the only one with real talent. She has a nice voice and all, but nothing so incredible that she would have made it on her own easily.

ANd Laz, those little fuckers needed to run. They needed to get cheesecake, they needed to basically go through a hell week, because they had done NOTHING ot get where they were yet they were acting like they were stars and deserved all this.

Speaking of American Idol, why are they pushing Clay's album first before Ruben's album? Ruben is the winner and they already trying to shit on him. Yea, the Da Band had to walk and get cheesecake to make them humble and the worst part about is they complained about it. Puff is laughin all way to the bank because I heard their contract deal was fucked up.

They have a "Tour based" contract.

It means that they are getting 3 points off the each LP sold, which would only be big money if the CD sells 15 million. All the money they are going to make will be off touring. So they will be a tour based band. They are going to stay touring to make any money.

Actually that is a pretty good deal for a group this size.

And by good I mean in terms of how basically every other arstist gets screwed. They aren't getting screwed as hard.

^ Yes they are getting screwed, maybe if they were talented it would be a ok contract. I think their album might go gold, they would have to tour alot and I don't see them doing all of that because I don't think they're dedicated. If they do tour it will be at small venues unless they tour with a big performer.

THere was noway in hell this album was going to sell anyway unless they included a dvd of sara doing lesbian porn with Total. A tour based contract is best for them. Expecially in a group this size.

^yea, I said they might go Gold but really there going double plastic. I guess a tour based contract was the best thing for them because they won't push any albums. I don't think people are going out to see them unless they tour with someone big. So most likely they will be performing at clubs. Sara and Total porn DVD aint a bad idea because you know Total would be down for that literally :P .

Speaking of Band on the Run, what the fuck ever happened to Flickerstick? I think they opened up for a band like Third Eye Blind and just disappeared off the face of the earth.

Too bad about that too.....that band ruled. They were the ultimate rock stars. But I still contend that the Josh Dodes band got SCREWED.
