Mole 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2004 This is something that we will NEVER find out, unless we as Joss or Marti. IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII think that the First made some Ubervamps in the Hellmouth, hence "From Beneath You, It Devours." Well, that is the way I look at it. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2004 How could the First make anything?
Guest JMA Report post Posted March 2, 2004 And with the whole "From Beneath You, It Devours" thing, you have to watch season 7 more than once to get the whole thing. I have watched it more than once. Perhaps the saying could refer to multiple things (the First, uber-vamps, the Hellmouth itself, ect). In any case, it doesn't matter too much to me.
Guest JMA Report post Posted March 2, 2004 Didn't the first say "you want to see what a real vampire looks like"? Which means that they are 100% demon, rather than a demon/human hybrid? Sorry if this was brought up before. I think it would be accurate to say that the uber-vamps are as much demon as a vampire can get. Well, besides Angel in P'ylea. Mole 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2004 Sad news kiddies. UPN To Pass On ’Angel’ Author: Michael Hinman Date: 03-01-2004 Source: SyFy Portal If UPN is going to grab any show from The WB, it apparently will not be the popular "Angel" series, which wasn’t popular enough with overall viewers to keep it on the air. While fans are going out of their way to try and save the show, one network that was a ray of light, apparently is going to pass on the opportunity to bring Joss Whedon back to its airwaves. A Viacom source tells SyFy Portal that UPN is reportedly going to say no to bringing the series over from The WB, putting the final nail in the coffin for the series. "The show is just too far in its lifespan to really make decent money on it," the source said. "It was a mistake for UPN to grab ’Buffy’ so late, and it ended up costing (the network) money. ’Roswell’ is another example of how it just isn’t feasible for UPN at this time." The WB cancelled "Angel" last month, effective at the end of the current season. In the announcement, The WB said it wanted to give the series a chance to end the way the producers want it to end, and that this would be a fitting way to do it. After the cancellation, the producers apparently opened up talks with UPN, but even at the beginning, some people connected to the show admitted that earning a UPN pickup was a "long shot." Please note that none of this information has been confirmed by UPN or Twentieth Century Fox Television -- which produces "Angel" -- and should be treated as any other rumor would be treated. Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2004 Good news for buffy fans.. According to Buffy.nu The seventh and final season of Buffy The Vampire Slayer will be released by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on April the 5th. RRP for the set is £79.99. The six-disc set will contain all twenty-two episodes, in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen format, with Dolby Digital 2.0 audio. The discs also contain several bonus features, including commentary tracks for seven episodes: Lessons (by Joss Whedon and David Solomon), Selfless (by David Goddard and David Solomon), Conversations With Dead People (by Nick Marck, Jane Espenson, Drew Goddard, Danny Strong and Tom Lenk), The Killer in Me (by David Solomon and Drew Z. Greenberg), Lies My Parents Told Me (by David Fury, Drew Goddard, James Marsters and D.B. Woodside), Dirty Girls (by Drew Goddard and Nicholas Brendon) and Chosen (by Joss Whedon). Other bonus features include a DVD-Rom Demon Guide (which appeared on the Region 1 Season 5 set); It’s Always Been About The Fans featurette (5m), Season 7 Overview: Full Circle (36m), Buffy 101: Studying the Slayer featurette (14m), Generation S featurette (8m), The Last Sundown featurette (9m), outtakes reel, Buffy Wraps featurette (5m) and an Easter Egg, The Gift montage. So for everybody who was complaining that it wasn't on the seaon 5 disk, there it is. I am asuming that it will be on the region 1 release, since 1 and 2 are usually the same for the most part. also from Buffy.nu: Angel The Ratings Connection (To the tune of "Rainbow Connection") When Chris Crotty is terribly moved, he does what any man would do -- indulges his inner Weird Al. Be grateful you don’t have to actually hear him sing these things. Why are there so many, Cares about ratings, And what’s the quality they hide? Ratings are numbers, They’re only illusions, And ratings do sometimes slide... So we’ve been told and Some chose to believe it, But I know they’re wrong wait and see... Someday we’ll find it, The ratings connection, Joss Whedon, the Executives, and me. Who said that every fan Would be heard and answered When e-mailing to the network site? Some Exec thought of that, And some IT guy blocked them, And now we’ve got postcards to write. What show’s exciting, That keeps us all writing, That so more Angel we might see? Someday we’ll find it, The ratings connection, Joss Whedon, the Executives, and me. All of us under it’s spell We know that it’s probably magic Have you shopped around, And have you had offers, I’ve hoped that they’re calling your name. Are these the same networks, that showed Firefly and Buffy, I think TNT might also be game... We want the show too much to ignore them, There’s somewhere that Angel’s supposed to be... Someday we’ll find it, The ratings connection, Joss Whedon, the Executives, and me.
Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2004 Two more tidbits- Alysson Hannigan is taking time off of "When Harry Met Sally" in March for unknown reasons. Current speculation says that she will pop up n the final episode (or thereabouts) of Angel. Other possible players in the finale include Eliza Dushku who this week spoke out in support of the cast and crew of the show she appeared in as Faith, the rogue vampire slayer. Although she is currently starring in her own show, Tru Calling, she will be free to film scenes for Angel’s final ever episode. interesting that everybody BUT Buffy might show up. Guest Vitamin EC Report post Posted March 2, 2004 Apparently the timing for Alyson leaving WHMS is a little out for filming the finale. However, after listening to the Orpheus commentary today, Alyson was only on set two days for that episode, so it I guess anything is possible. The only thing is, isn't there an NBC sitcom she's meant to be doing soon? The time off might be to film that unfortunately.

I am not aware of the shooting schedule, but usually the actors don't get the script until the day before shooting starts for that episode. I think Alyson has already shot the pilot, if not, it will happen around April. She should start filming the series around August, if not late June.

Mole 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2004 Which the critics hate, by the way. Speaking of Alyson, I think she might show up on Angel this week. Well, Wes calls an "old friend" from Sunnydale, so me thinks it is Willow.

Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2004 It's Kermit's big opening number! Aw, forget it. Yeah, sucks about UPN. But it makes sense froma fiscal standpoint. Suere, they'd get Angel for two years if they picked it up, and they'd gain it's audience (for the most part, for some places still don't get it.) But after two years, then what? The show would be over, UPN has NOTHING else that would interest Angel's fanbase, whgich would leave again (much like Buffy's fans left, I'm betting.) And they'd be in the financial hole. If it had started on UPN, they would have probably renewed the show. But as Buffy showed them, after five years, it's not worth picking up. On the bright side, there is always the possibility of an Angel movie on WB, which would rock. Especially if they tied it into Buffy again.
Guest Vitamin EC Report post Posted March 2, 2004 Heh, had to add that Orpheus comment in. By the way, the Angel S4 DVD rocks, best one yet and I highly recommend it when it comes out later this year in the States... not that I have to recommend it, it's freakin Angel S4. One thing I picked up on that ties in nicely with the WB fucking with Angel, in the Apocalypse Nowish commentary, they stated that The Beast was meant to have been the big bad that season and the only reason he made an appearance so early on was because the WB messed with the schedules and the producers wanted to give fans a good cliffhanger before a big break. Really makes you wonder how the season would have panned out if Charisma hadn't have become pregnant and the WB hadn't have stuck their nose in, apparently Angelus and Faith were planned but other than that, it could have been a very different season. WAIIIIT A SECOND.... THE BEAST might have been the Big Bad for season 4? So we would have seen him for more than 8 episodes? And this is because the WB fucked it up? BAHHH, I hate the WB. I am boycotting the WB next year, and I will even make a shirt for it. Anyone will be able to buy it, for like $15. Once again, I hate you EC. Season 4 owns all, even better than season 5 of Buffy. And just think if THE BEAST was there for the arc, by Gawd, I can't even think of the words to say. Oh God, what will RRR say about THE BEAST. Actually, it will be funny. Guest Vitamin EC Report post Posted March 2, 2004 Another cute titbit that I picked up that I never even considered before was because a hell of a lot of S4 episodes cliffhangered each other, it means that the whole of S4 took place in a matter of weeks. Hell, the Vegas episode probably took up more in real-time than a couple episodes combined. Of course, this fact completely screws with the continuity between Buffy and Angel time wise. Yup, I remember reading that Joss said season 4, starting from "Spin the Bottle," was 2 weeks long. And I am not sure about it messing up with the Angel/Buffy continuity. They never said anything about Buffy's season in TV time. Plus the fact the last 5 or so episodes happened back to back/real time. But this is just pure speculation. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2004 Of course THE BEAST was meant to be the Big Bad, you could tell that from the way they (a)had him kick everyones ass, and (b)how they killed him off very easily and made way for 3 other baddies (Angelus, Cordy, Jasmine) that season. That just didn't seem right at the time to build someone up as fucking unbeatable and then just... beat him... I always just assumed it was because they were working around That Damned Cordy rather than the WB getting messed up in it. FUCK THE FROG!
Mole 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2004 Yeah, it was pretty cheesy how they had him killed. Angelus just stabbed him and he went away, blah. And if anything, it made Faith look like a bitch. She got her ass wiped by THE BEAST and Angelus.
Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2004 Coming in hours later; I don't see what the big deal is with The Gift montage, now that I've seen it on FX. It's only 30 seconds and it goes too fast for it to really mean anything. Also, why'd they wait so long to start using stars for commentary tracks? So for Angel they have Andy Hallett and Alyson Hannigan, and for season 7 of Buffy they'll have Tom Lenk, Danny Strong, DB Woodside, James Marsters, Nick Brendon (AND PLENTY OF DREW GOD-DARD~!) Seth Green did an episode, with Marti and Joss, but I am too lazy to look it up. It was a GREAT commentary though.
Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2004 I believe the episode in question was either "Wild at Heart" or "New Moon Rising."
