The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

Recommended Posts

I was watching "Forever", "Intervention" and "Tough Love" last night.

If there was any doubt that Season 5 was the best Buffy season, it was killed last night. I *really* need to see Angel Season 5 vs. Buffy Season 5, because Buffy had a KILLER run of ****+ episodes. This is where they peaked.

Also, watching these episodes helped remind that that GLORY FUCKING RULES!~ I might just put her above THE BEAST. I said it. The scene where "Jinxie" tells her that the key is human and she says "and I'll forgive the lame toadying on account of you dying" is wonderful. Every fucking scene she is in its wonderful. Glory is, by far, the best villain in Buffy history. No Doubt.

Oh bah! Glory's scenes were almost stolen by the excellent bunch of scabby jawas that they had groveling all the time. Those were the best 'stormtroopers' of the series if I do say so myself with some excellent stuff centered around their worship. Hell if God showed up one day and wanted you to wash her feet, you'd probably do the same stuff. I love those guys. Glory... not so much.

The Minions ruled, but Glorys reaction to their grovelling and how she treated them was perfect. Like, when they found the wrong key; all you could hear was their screams. Glorys scene with Tara is one of my favourites. Thats the darkest you'll see any villain get because its not only physical pain she is dealing out, but psychological pain as well. She had Tara completely helpless and let her know it.

Glory was a God. But being trapped in Ben and banished from her hell dimension made her insane. It's about having power but not being able to use it. Her shifts in emotion were well done by a particularly great actress and I loved the way she just didn't care about the scoobies.

The door opens and two more demons enter, half-carrying Jinx between them. He has his arms around their shoulders but is conscious.

GLORY: Jinxie?

She rushes forward and takes one of Jinx's arms around her shoulders. The displaced demon goes to shut the door.

GLORY: Oh, no, no! Oh, mind the rug, honeys, blood's a bitch. (to Jinx) Was this the Slayer, I'll pull her wings off!

JINX: No.

They put Jinx on a sofa.

JINX: It was Ben.

GLORY: Ben? (turns away) Ben? Oh god, you pointless, stupid lout! Oh, I hate you, I hate you, (pulls several handfuls of hair off her head) I hate youuuuu!

JINX: The key! He told me.

GLORY: The key?

She turns back to him, still holding handfuls of hair.

GLORY: What about the key?

JINX: He indicated that it was a person, most ... (searching for words) ... highest ... you.

GLORY: (smiling hopefully) The key's in human form?

JINX: I believe so ... (searching for words) good one.

GLORY: (delighted) Ahh!

She sits on the sofa and pulls Jinx into a hug.

GLORY: Jinx, you robed stud, you're my man! I'm even gonna let you slide on the lame toadying on account of your dying and stuff.

Jinx looks a little surprised to hear this. He looks to Glory but she is talking to the other demons. Jinx looks from her to the other demons to his wound as Glory talks.

GLORY: So, the key's all secreted away in a flesh wrapper! (gets up and paces) This narrows the search from now on in a serious way, I mean we didn't have a clue. It could have been a log, or, or a bicycle pump, or whatever, am I right?

Jinx has fallen asleep or unconscious on the sofa.

GLORY: Uch, get him fixed, would ya? (smiling, plops down on another sofa) I wanna hear the whole story again, without all that annoying moaning.

The actor of Lorne from Angel has been taken to hosptial due to massive heart problems a couple of hours ago. Update.

Andy, who actually had to be present at a convention yesterday, was excused and it was published, that he is in hospital due to heart problems and is hooking up on an oxygen tank now. There isn't anything accurate to his situation, but if there will be new news, we will post them here.

:( I hope everything works out and he gets better. Good luck, Andy.

Update!

An official statement from Andy:

Hi everyone, thanks for checking up on my new site! I wish I had better news for you at the moment, however I am having a bit of a rough time right now, medically speaking. As you know, it would take a lot for me to miss a scheduled event (ya know what a ham I am...) but I’m unable to fly or travel at the moment. Last week I was hospitalized due to a minor viral infection that was complicated by exhaustion.

This minor problem turned “not so minor” quite quickly and was causing major problems with my lungs and breathing. I was in the I.C.U. At  Cedars-Sinai Medical for the past 5 days under the care of wonderful doctors and nurses who I owe the world to. I am forever grateful for the care, concern, and unbelievable treatment given to me by all of them, but especially Dr. Sourpik Avakian. She was by my side every step of the way and gave me constant hope and lots of love. Thank you Dr. Avakian for everything...I owe ya one and I love you.

Doctor Avakian and I are both predicting and hoping for a speedy recovery, but I just have to rest, rest, rest, rest, rest, rest (as she says). I am very sorry if I disappointed anyone with my absence from this weekend’s event in the Poconos, believe me I’d be there if I could. I promise to make it up to you somehow.

So that’s it for now, I’ll keep ya posted as time goes on. Thank you again to the wonderful staff at Cedar’s, to my awesome circle of friends who have helped me immensely through this, especially Dayne Johnson, Mark Lutz, Matt Williamson, Dr. Avakian, Janet, Dr. J., Charlie, Reiss, Pat Brady, and my Mom and Dad. I love you guys very much.    Oh and sorry to that little nurse I had to cuss out while in the hospital....I was kinda cranky that day....oops.

At least he's okay.

Reading about the different interpretations of Adam, and how his plan sucked, I think the villian with the best plan has to be either The First or Holtz. Look at it this way:

The Master- Hypes up his rising and the opening of the hellmouth, but it turns out he lasts less than a season 3 side villian. Guess he should have been practicing his kung-fu instead of giving boring monologues to that kid. And the hellmouth only opens a crack.

Angelus- His "hell on earth" thing would of work if he just realised that maybe, just maybe Buffy could kick his ass (again). Also driving Spike away wasn't smart.

Mayor- All that hype for a snake?! Should've thought it through some more.

Adam- Please. Buffy didn't even need try with this guy. His plan aside, the guy was easy to get punked.

Glory- Very close to a master plan. She even got Ben on her side, and the slayer killed. The only thing that didn't work was that she was totally insane.

Trio- Got lucky, got wasted by Evil Willow.

The First- Now things get good. The plan of ending the slayer line and then populating the earth with ubervamps had a lot of promise. Look at how many slayers died. In fact the only reason she failed was that Buffy found her superweapon and WR & H didn't want to see the First win either.

WR & H- As a whole, not very good plans. Even their apocalypse was easily haulted.

Darla- Eh, her plans kinda got messed up by being pregnant.

Holtz- In a way, Holtz's plan succeeds. He gets Connor to hate his father, which is what he set out to do. Only later on does Connor see his father in a better light.

Jasmine- She had an ok plan but forgot to tie up the lose ends with the spider people. Oops.

Adam's plan is questionable, but there's no rational way to say he was easy. He beat up Buffy ever time they fought till the end. She didn't even stand a chance. Having to resort to something as drastic as that Uber Buffy spell means he isn't easy.

When it comes to physical one on one fights, Adam is probably her toughest foe. Him or Glory.

I'm pretty sure Adam no sold everything thrown at him until Primevil. I don't see how he was a pushover at all; he would have killed non-uber Buffy dead pretty easily if she didn't run away from him constantly.

I also don't see how you can call WR&H a pushover. By season 5, they had actually done what they wanted...Angel was working for them. Season 5 was about Angel making the wrong choice and having to pay the consequences for it. Their apocalypse was happening in "Not Fade Away", and it seems like it would have worked. WR&H was awesome.

Plus, WR&H clearly would have killed Angels Avengers. Hell, the dragon and the huge monster alone would have fucked em up proper.

Didn't Wes and Gunn kill a dragon in Season 2? I'm thinking they could have taken the dragon down. The other 50000 demons though, maybe not so much.

The problem I had with Adam wast he government involvement. It wasn't that they were involved, but once things went wrong how could they have not terminated it. I mean, really. We've got smart bombs. Just drop them on the initiative complex. Raid it with an army. Nuke the place. Once Adam killed Walsh, that should've been the end of him.

Connor patrolling post-apocalyptic LA sounds so awesome. With flashbacks to Quar'toth and finding his foster parents dead, and Angel gone (in holding with the PTBs). OMG, it would be so much awesome. And Faith shows up.

Damn, that was a hell of alot of buffy talk on this angel thread since I last visited the site. Good discussions by all, though trying to rationalize something as intricate as the buffy-angelverse might be a mistake lol.

As for my angel thought of the day:

I finally re-watched not fade away the other day and I found it to be a brilliant finale. I just wish it would have been a two hour show instead. Hey and I found out that connor remembers his old life. I missed that the first time while switching back and forth with the yankees game.

I watched the episode on tnt yesterday (friday) . I forget the name, but it's the one in season # 1 where Angel saves the actress and becomes her bodyguard. I liked it more the second time (I watched seasons 1-4 for the first time on tnt this past year-like I said before I wish I would have gotten into these shows years ago). And I found it ironic how cordy mentions that the actress, named Rebecca Lowell, show was cancelled by the idiot network . and how she was going to protest but there was a big sale at the mall or somethin. and the beggining is gold

as you see a close up of angel and wes talking about how there's no way out of this place and stuff and then the camera reveals cordy doing a play

(his somethin was so so....LINE?!!!!!!) Cordy before season 3 was always good for a laugh.

After Wes subdues "Angelus" (created when angel is drugged by rebecca, that creates a false happy feeling-making angel think he is angelus), Angel wakles up in the mornining to discover he is chained and I do mean chained to the bed, with cordy and wes looking on. Angel apologizes for his angelus comments, but the 2 say all is forgiven. Wes leaves, cordy and angel talk and angel realizes all of a sudden....

"Angel: You're not going to untie me are you?

Cordy: pfffttt (rasberry noise)

Cordy leaves and we fade into the closing credits with angel yelling out

Cordy, Wes, guys?

Angel qoute of the day from the above mentioned episode

Cordy: I made the paper!!!!

Wes: Wow, they reviewed your play?

Cordy: No I'm in this picture with rebecca

Wes: Where?

Cordy: Right there, that's my elbow!!! (said like it makes her extremely proud)

and angel singing "everybody have fun tonight" owns all

anybody else think that we NEED an Angel video game, done GTA style?

I finally got vice city used (hey I got it cheap for 15 bucks, its hard to find by itself these days and it costs 30 bucks online, plus its an original version, without the cuts made in the double pack, it didnt come with the box, buy hey, I made my one cover lol) at hollywood videos game crazy, great game. good sales there, they even had the 2nd buffy game on ps2 for only 20 bucks, but I have heard bad things about it. are they true? I mean is the game worth a rental or purchase?

I must own the dvd sets now!! must...get...offf..couch..and...get...a....job

hey, how about a new angel/buffy topic: have any of you had dreams of buffy/angel characters (and I'm not talking about perverted dreams those can go in the love/dating forum lol) if so, what are your best ones.

I know I'm reaching there, but we're running out of new ideas and we want to keep this topic alive.

I tend to do that.

I too wish I had watched Angel 1-4 when it was on, and I've also caught up mainly through TNT.

I don't see that problem with Adam. If the gov't thought high enough of themselves that they could control demons, why wouldn't they think they could find a way to reign in Adam at some point?

Adam was a hybrid, and something smarter than what they were used to. Plus, something totally different, and they had a lot of things classified. They had a force trained just to do work with demons. Scientists, army, weapons, etc. And they lost that. So they were in different territories.

And I know the government can at time be totally inept, but you figure that they would have had a fail-safe for a project on their own soil, in case things went wrong.

Well, at the end of the Initiative they had those group of guys meeting during that battle scene. So someone in the government was keeping correspondance. And relatively high up or else they would have had problems keeping a plug on it. So when they lost contro, there should have been a big red light going off in someone head.

Nice posts from jerichoholic and brian. Anyways, I'm reading this paper, and they constantly cite a researcher named Wolfram. Everything cited to him I consider evil lies. Thanks a lot, Angel.

They didn't know where he was. They only found out he was in the Initiative when his plan started up.

I have Buffy dreams. Last week I had a dream I went bowling with Emma Caulfield and Tony Head.

Plus I daydream about Buffy like 24/7.
