Anya 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 Yes, boring. Angel doesn't have nearly the repeat watchability of Buffy. Angel brooding over Darla is boring. Darla herself is a very boring villain. She isn't threatening or funny. The whole story of him dreaming about her is extremely boring. I do like Blood Money, Happy Anniversary and Thin Dead Line. 3 eps in the middle of that arc where she is gone. Holland is the best thing about that whole arc. Guest Brian Report post Posted November 12, 2004 You need to get in the DVD club and point out what is wrong with each episode, because I don't see that. Today is Reunion, which I fucking love, and next is Redefinition, which has Angel's INNER MONOLOGUE~! These episodes are so good. Reprise is a motherfucking king among men. The trial was great, and I've written extensively about why. You can refute what I say, then go in and quote my statements and bring it up. Otherwise, I'm not going to buy your generalizations. Besides, Angel brooding over Darla led him to slowly get crazier and crazier, which was awesome.

Mole 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 Season 7 came in the mail today Disc 1: Giles, Disc 2: Willow, Disc 3: Buffy, Disc 4: Spike, Disc 5: Dawn, Disc 6: Xander Which is ironic because I sold my Buffy collection. I am soooo broke and owe a lot of people money, so I figured that selling some DVDs was a must. Sad, sad day.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Pshaw, be like the rest of us and just get your legs broken. It only hurts for a few months, and then dull pain for the rest of your life. Ok, DARLA, NOW! "Oh no, much worse... we're soulmates... *laugh*" ~!
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Man, theres a shot at 34:06 in DARLA that is absolutely brilliant. It's the Resevoir Dogs shot of them just walking and Spike jumps off of something and there's fire in the background. It looks like he has wings of fire. Anya 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Season 7 came in the mail today Disc 1: Giles, Disc 2: Willow, Disc 3: Buffy, Disc 4: Spike, Disc 5: Dawn, Disc 6: Xander LAME! Giles is in like 11 episodes! That sucks so much. I knew that would be it, but am still really mad.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Shroud of Rahman is on. Cordy's hair is hideous. It's cool to see them experiment like they have in Season 2. "Chow Yun Fat?!" Cordy sounded EXACTLY like Willow when she was gushing over Angel taking a case. How do the CLOTHES on a vampire disappear? I mean seriously.
Anya 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 OMG, Julie Benz does voice work in Halo 2. Shroud of Rahman is cool. I like Joe Don or whatever.

Anya 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 I wish I had season 7 now. But I think I've decided "Potential" is the worst episode ever. I am playing Halo 1 now and Foe Hammers just said "I read you, 5 by 5"!!!!!
Guest Brian Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Since we're talking about the mirror and reflection, I think it should be mentioned that they've emphasized alot of that this season. Methinks they're building to Pylea.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Good call B-ri. "No, No, better stick together" "Right" DAYAMNUH! KATEUH! Who is the demon with the black hair and beard supposed to look like? *pop* "Looks real to me" "I.. AM... PLEASAN*T*" ANGEL BIT KATE??? I don't remember THAT happenin. Angel playing with Fire? SWEEEET! This season RULES! Even, like, half-dead, I'd still make fuck with Kate.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Full Days Work, then. I think so. That SO should have been the last words in Not Fade Away. HE DRANK! GAAAAAAAAAAAASP!
Mole 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 But I think I've decided "Potential" is the worst episode ever. No that would be "Him." I was switching the channels the other day when a friend walked into my room. Buffy was on and I was trying to pinpoint what episode it was to show off. Usually it only takes me about 5 seconds to figure out what episode it is. I was glad Buffy was on because I hadn't watched it in a while. But then I noticed it was "Him" and I changed it quicker than Anya getting sliced into two. I can't STAND that episode. It has NO point and totally ruins the flow of the season. They should have gotten rid of that episode, that way "Chosen" could have been two hours.
Guest Brian Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Today was Reunion. Tell me why this episode suck Anyanka after I tell you why it's awesome: Angel: "He already invited me in once. This time when I kick that door down, I go through it - alone." This beautiful quote, as a frantically obsessed Angel searches for Lindsay, sums up one of the major themes of this episode quite nicely. Angel, from this episode until the end of the minor arc, is going it alone. No one to stop him. He has let his obsession completely control him. Why is he so obsessed? Because he thinks he loves her. All the dreams, Tish's line, he's still in love with her. I theorized earlier that maybe his Darla-obsession was Buffy-inspired rather than the other way around in "Guise Will Be Guise". Whatever it was, he's projecting that obsession into thinking there can be love. When Darla looks at Angel, already a vamp, it freezes him. Druscilla provides a great deal of humor in this episode. They way she tell Lindsey that Darla's dead was just great. And Gunn delivering the "Jerry McGuire" line was gold. The vision stuff was all very good. Another case of Angel falling further and further from his mission. Holland telling Dru and Darla about having a massacre. And then they have one at the end. Angel and Holland finally talking face to face. That line Holand gave him about not caring came back and bit him in the ass at the end, I tells ya. Vampire Darla is pretty fucking badass, snapping the neck of that shopkeeper. And I love early-vamp Darla trying to get back to being human before she accepts what she is. Feeling Lindsay for warmth was a nice touch, and him not being scared, even smiling as Angel locked the door, was spot-on. And the theme of this episode is so beautifully reflected in that shocking scene where Dru keeps on commenting on Daddy and that Angel-beast, and he just goes and closes the door, Dru cals him daddy. I love how Darla is talking about them as a family. And he fires them at the end. They've been building that one a bit. Foreshadowing: Healthy attachments and Lindsay. The hand. Dead End. It's a bit of a stretch. The Angel not being able to kill Darla will come to a head at Epiphany, when Angel realizes he never truly loved her, he was incapable of it, redeeming what he felt for Buffy. And then he truthfully can tell her that she will kill her. Kate freeing Angel is going to bite her in the ass IIRC.
Anya 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Him is cool because it's a wacky monster of the week ep and there's like none of those in S7. Him is what S7 was supposed to be like. It's nice to have an ep that isn't 45 minutes of everyone sitting at Buffy's house freaking out because the First is coming. The last scene alone is worth the ep, since it's so funny. The really bad thing about Him is that in about 2 minutes they completely dropped everything they had done in Selfless and doomed Anya to the world without arcs. Potential is REALLY boring. What could be worse than an episode based on Dawn and her friend? The other scoobies do NOTHING. There's no interesting sub-plots or any particularly funny scenes with Andrew or anyone else. At least most of the time with a lame S7 episode I can count on Emma and Tom to bring the funny and make it worthwhile. There is almost nothing here. Nothing but Dawn and SITs. The Killer In Me is also horrible. The Willow becomes Warren storyline is just too weird and nobody likes Kennedy. Spike's chip subplot is too little, too late. The saving grace is the minor bits of funny the others bring with that little story about Giles being the First. I also deeply hate Sleeper and Never Leave Me. Once again Emma and Tom save the day. literally everything else is awful and boring. I couldn't care less about crazy/emo Spike which takes up 90% of the ep. Then of course there's the awful Ubie series of eps, Bring on the Night and Showtime. Do I even need to point out how these suck? The ubie just sucks. Something happened after CWDP. The span of Sleeper to Get it Done is horrible. It's easily the worst span of episodes in the history of the Whedonverse. It was up to Espenson to save us with the amazing Storyteller(AGAIN, Emma and Tom are heroes). This span of eps is so pathetic the best one is First Date, which is kinda sorta halfway decent at best. Then RIGHT AFTER Storyteller is another series of pure crap, with Dirty Girls to End of Days. If you want to blame anything for Chosen being too short it is these 4 eps. They have 4 hours and thye do almost NOTHING. Besides the "lets kick Buffy out" story, which ends up going no where, none of these eps mean anything. Caleb comes and goes and ends up being completely irrelevant. Everyone sits around and talks about how bad things are going to be. The syche and guardian are completely irrelevant. The whole thing is a huge waste of 4 hours. The scoobies turn on Buffy, yet we never get a scene where they apologize and welcome her back. Buffy and Giles' relationship is strained but we never get a scene where they make up. Nothing is resolved. Instead we get lots of Kennedy and exposition about stuff that doesn't matter. Thanks a lot Joss, for introducing that Guardian chick. She sure brought a lot to the story. Oh wait, no she didn't. The writers can't even decide what to do. It pisses me off how Xanya seemingly get back together, then do nothing in End of Days, then are back together in Chosen again. MAKE UP YOUR MIND. You can't even figure out what's going on with the scoobies at the end because everything is so inconsistent. But......yeah....Chosen sort of already is 2 hours. Actually more like 3. Touched, End of Days and Chosen are all connected. The only difference is it's not called Chosen pt 1, Chosen pt 2 and Chosen pt 3. I don't think the actual final battle needed more time. At least not a whole other hour.
Anya 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 It's kind of hard to explain or discribe why something is or isn't entertaining. Like, ok, it might be deep or thematic or whatever, but it's still boring. I just don't find Darla fascinating. Brooding Angel also does nothing for me.

Anya 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 That is good. It also has Xander remembing back to Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered and saying "good times". When it cuts back, Anya has this really funny look. And the ending is awesome. Radio: And now the latest on Sunnydale's late night bandit who is still at large. A masked thief held up a number of large businesses......... Anya turns off radio... Anya: Ok, great! Ice cream? My treat! Yes, they need to make a bank robbing Anya figure. BTW, I now have all the Anya figures. They're so cool. But the Bunny one kinda sucks.

The really bad thing about Him is that in about 2 minutes they completely dropped everything they had done in Selfless and doomed Anya to the world without arcs. So, S7 should have been about stupid monster of the week episodes? NO, S7 should have been about the First, but they should have done it better than the way they did. I can't STAND the monster of the week episodes. That is why season 2 isn't in my top 3; too many monster of the week episodes. Don't you always say that the early seasons suck? But you like an episode that is the same formula as the early seasons? There was no reason for "Him." Stupid, stupid, stupid. I like my storyarcs, one of the reasons I like Angel season 4, 24, and Alias; they are BIG storyarcs. "Him" broke that up and is a pointless episode. I have only seen it once, but does it do anything to advance the storyarc? Anything?
