Guest Brian Report post Posted April 3, 2002 WWF SmackDown – 1/24/02 Vince McMahon comes down to the ring. He says that after what happened Monday, he’s got to handle some things. First, Triple H and Stone Cold will have a re-match tonight for the royal rumble contender’s spot. Second, he’s tired of Ric Flair. He hopes that Heyman has a plan to get rid of Flair, because Vince wants it done by No Way Out. Vince will pick up the remains after that. Triple H watches in Vince’s office with Stephanie. Triple H says that tonight, there will be no time limit draws to settle things, just him and Austin. <Commercial Break> Backstage, Vince is greeted in his office by Triple H and Stephanie. A stagehand arrives at his door with a package. Vince gets mad, berating the guy for delivering it late. He opens the letter, which reads that Flair has already signed a four-way, two falls match at No Way Out for both the WWF and WCW championships with Rock, Triple H, Jericho, and Austin. Vince gets mad and throws the letter. Triple H breaks a smile as Steph runs to comfort her father. European Championship Eddie Guerrero vs. Al Snow Eddie pins Al at 6:40 following a brainbuster and the frog splash. Eddie grabs the belt following the match and steals a mic outside the ring. He says he wants some new blood to try and beat him for the European Championship at No Way Out. <Commercial Break> Vince runs into Edge in the back. Edge reminds Vince that unless he wants one of Flair’s boys holding the Intercontinental title shot, he better give Edge a shot at winning the belt. Vince says Edge will see later tonight. Holly’s vs. APA The APA pins Crash Holly when Farooq hits the Dominator on Crash for the pin at 5:12. Foley is talking to the Hardys in the back telling them that they are going to get another title shot because of the finish on Monday. Vince comes in and says that he’s firing Foley because he’s tired of sharing his power with other people. Matt reminds Vince that Mick isn’t the problem, and Flair is his co-owner. Vince tells Matt that tonight he’s going to be a part of a four-way for the intercontinental title, as well as Jeff. Matt and Jeff get pissed at Vince, who begins to exit. Foley tells him to “Have a Nice Day”, and Vince turns around to get the mandible claw. <Commercial Break> Angle helps Vince to his limo. He tells Vince that he should have been considered for the title shot because he’s the Olympic gold medalist. Vince says he can tag tonight with Austin against Rock and HHH. He closes the door to leave a bewildered Angle behind. Rock comes down to the ring. He says that he should be mad that Flair booked him to defend his title against three people. But the Rock could care less about those three jabronies, because he’s going to win both falls, take both titles, and main event WrestleMania as a unified champion. Rock continues to poke fun at his opponents before bringing it home with an “If you smell, what the Rock is cooking.” <Commercial Break> Angle enters Austin’s dressing room. Angle tells Austin that he hopes he’s not still jealous of him like he was last summer. Hardcore Championship RVD vs. Val Venis RVD wins at 6:24 when he hits the five-star frogsplash on Val Venis. <Commercial Break> Intercontinental Championship Christian vs. Matt Hardy vs. Edge vs. Jeff Hardy Christian and Jeff are brawling on the outside around 3:10 when Matt goes to push Edge against the ropes for a school boy. Christian hits Edge with the belt, and Matt gets the three count to eliminate Edge at 3:17. Matt hits Christian with a forearm from behind and rolls him back in. They double team Christian but argue over the pinfall. Christian goes for a roll-up on Matt and Jeff leans on to get the pinfall at 4:01. Jeff kicks Christian on the ground. Christian gets another kick as he tries to get up. Jeff drops to kness and starts laying in the right hands. He rubs a knee against Christian’s face. He plays a dickish heel for the rest of the match, but misses a swanton bomb attempt around 6:20 and Christian is able to gain momentum and hit the Unprettier for the pin at 7:11. <Commercial Break> Matt is questioning Jeff’s motives in the back. Lita brings in Foley. Foley tells them that before he leaves the building tonight, he wants them to remember that they are family. With what little power he has left, Foley says he guarantees them they’ll get a tag title shot at No Way Out. Shamrock vs. Kane Shamrock dismantles Kane taking out his knee. Angle runs down at about 2:40 and trades shots with Shamrock. Shamrock knocks Angle out of the ring. Kane gets up and delivers a chokeslam but his leg gives out. Kane inches over for a cover for a nearfall. Kane slowly picks him up and whips him across. Shamrock ducks a clothesline but Angle catches him on the other side, tripping him. He gets up and takes the tombstone for the three at 4:17. Angle tosses a chair in the ring. He slides in and locks Kane in the anklock, then tosses him out. He pulls Shamrock up and hits a belly to belly onto the chair. He hits Shamrock in the head to end the segment. <Commercial Break> They replay Shamrock being helped into the doctor’s room during the break. Kane makes his way out on his own. Angle rushes into the room and nails Shamrock in the head with a chair again. HHH and Rock meet up, and Rock reminds Triple H about their past and their future (No Way Out). Triple H tells Rock he’s not interested in his title right now. <Commercial Break> HHH and the Rock vs. Steve Austin and Kurt Angle Kane limps down to the ring at 5:30 and pulls Angle aside to brawl. At 8:20, Jericho makes a run-in for the DQ and takes out Triple H, followed by the Rock. He tries to lock in the Walls on the Rock, but Austin hits a stunner on Jericho to end the show.
