Monday nitro question

I was just wondering since I read a rumor a while back that said Turner officials gave Nitro a 3 month trial run thinking the show would bomb. Is that true?

Seem to remember that being true.  The show actually started a couple of weeks late, but came out of the blocks with a brilliant first show, which I seem to remember was against a taped raw.  Nitro was live most of the time, and had more of a big show feel to it.  It really should have been the spur to make WCW the biggest promotion in the world, and by 97/early 98 they may have been.  But we all know how that turned out...

I actually preferred watch Nitro as opposed to Raw when they were both on.  First off I liked the show when it was 3 hours long because for 2 hours we got wrestling.  Then for an hour we got Goldberg, and the nWo, and all their crappy feuds.  Nitro did always feel like it was a pretty big show, but that would have been do to the constant shilling of the announcers.

I liked Nitro from the start too. The fact that it was live and anything could happen ie. Luger returns, made Nitro better than Raw. Then when WCW got out of control Nitro became painful to watch at times. Seeing how they were screwing up so many things.

I agree that it got too out of control in the end but from the beginning up until about October of 99 I was still a Nitro mark.
