One of the greatest Gimmick PPV's of all time, In my opinion was the Best of Seven Starrcade in 1995 from WCW.

 

The premise was that WCW was at "war" with New Japan (this before NWO would take over)...And Sonny Onoo was taking over and even got Heel announcer Bobby Heenan to convert...

 

So they staged a SPECIAL event at Starrcade consisting of 7 New Japan Superstars and 7 WCW superstars...and it also feautred an unusal Twist for a Main event, They had a three corners match for the rights to face the champion RIGHT after the 3C match concluded...This was the Card for said event

 

 

Jushin Liger Vs Chris Benoit

Koji Kanemoto Vs Alex Wright

Masa Chono Vs Lex Luger

Masa Saito Vs Johnny B Badd

Shinjiro Ohtani Vs Eddie Guerrero

Hiroyoshi Tenzan Vs Randy Savage

WCW won the cup 4-3 including a pair of WHOMP ASS matches such as Benoit/Liger and Ohtani/Guerrero...the other matches were quite short esp the Luger, Sting, Savage matches. Those matches all went exactly 6 minutes. By smart booking they all went over...as not to make any of those guys look weak for the main event...Badd was wcw's other win only by virture of DQ and that went 6 minutes as well...Oddly enough Japan's wins were 10 minute+ matches...Which was also odd booking.

 

The Luger/Sting/Flair match was amazing in storyline that woved 8 years history into the match and everyone alternated heel/face status in this match about 20 times...The finish was ingenious and a superhot closer with flair winning the title over savage with a nice swerve.

 

The Point of that long RAMBLE was this...Wouldn't it be possible that WWE could revive that WORLD CUP OF WRESTLING gimmick for the next Japan tour? or perhaps use the fourmula for RAW/SMACKDOWN.

 

I'm not well versed in which Japan promotion WWE would be working with and who it was the last tour...I want to say Muta's Promotion...but I can't be sure...

 

but I'd imagine WWE would send these seven as the reps...

 

Jericho-Raw's Best Worker and Has a Legancy in Japan

Benoit-Perhaps the best PURE worker around and is a icon in Japan

Angle-One of the better workers with a verstalie base.

Mysterio-One of, if not THE best Light/Cruiserweights of all time

Taker-The Big Man...Besides, gotta have BIG MAN match

Eddy-One of the greatest workers and can do any styles.

Brock-The WWE Product

 

(Yep, ONE raw rep...You can take out Mysterio and put in RVD to make it "fair")

 

So who would be the ideal Choices for Japan's reps?

 

Obviously this would draw better in Japan for obvious reasons and We'll get this with the DVD treatment in America...

that would be a good idea, i dont know why the WWE doesnt have a working realationship like WCW did with NJPW, if this did happen i would keep all of the wrestlers from 1 side maybe do a 7 match seres in japan with the WWE winnig and then 1 in america with NJPW winning and then maybe a cage match in japan on a sunday of a smackdown PPV
