Guest Report post Posted April 4, 2002 This is my first post, so replies greatly appreciated. Watching as a kid in the UK without the benefit of Sky TV the only wrestling I got to see was the PPVs that got released on video and the dodgy information fed to me through WWF magazine, so I obviously missed a lot of what was going on. In February 1992, Legion Of Doom, my favourite wrestlers at the time, unexpectedly lost the Tag Team to Money Inc. The WWF magazine's WrestleMania 8 preview had Money Inc to defend the belts against the team of Hacksaw Duggan & Sgt Slaughter, with LOD facing The Natural Disasters. When WrestleMania 8 arrived, Money Inc defended against The Disasters, Hacksaw & Slaughter were in a meaningless 8-man tag match, and the LOD cut an interview in which they 'returned' with their old manager from the NWA Paul Ellering. Had the LOD quit the WWF and then come back? The next show I saw was SummerSlam 92 where Hawk & Animal were previewed to be facing Money Inc for the titles, but when the show arrived the belts had been hotshotted onto The Natural Disasters, and the title-shot given to The Beverly Brothers, whom LOD had just demolished in an extended feud. Wazzupwitdat? On top of that, Paul Ellering had a puppet called Rocco which gave them advice and just completely ruined their tough-guy aura for me as a young fan. I never saw the LOD in the WWF again until five years later. What was the creative team thinking? Why was this hugely over team edged out of the title picture and treated like a joke with Rocco the ventriloquist's dummy?
Guest JHawk Report post Posted April 4, 2002 No idea about the hotshotting of the titles to Money Inc. in the first place. It still boggles my mind. Anyway, LOD took the time between that and WM8 off, which is why they "returned" at WM w/Ellering. The "reasoning" for Rocco coming in was that he had been their inspiration when they were growing up in Chicago. Ellering scoured a garbage dump to find the puppet. Note to wrestling bookers: Any angle that starts in a garbage dump is most likely just that...garbage. The official line was that Hawk asked to be released from his WWF contract prior to the post-SummerSlam TV tapings. He had told one of the Apter mags that with his back trouble he needed the time off. Of course, the Apter mags are notorious for manufacturing quotes, so take that for what you will. Animal was around another month or so, teaming with Crush as the new LOD (which I believe was just because someone had to replace Hawk at house shows). Why did they do this? Not a damn clue. Maybe Vince wanted them to be more kid friendly. Maybe he was trying to bury the only credible face team he had. He had to turn the freaking Nasty Boys face for chrissakes! Guest Report post Posted April 4, 2002 Cheers. On the further subject of the Nasty Boys and my 1992 tag team queeries, what exactly was the angle they used to turn the Nasties face and beat Money Inc for the belts? And why did Jim Neidhart leave the WWF just as The New Foundation were set to get big? Thanks for any info.

I might be wrong, but I belive Jimmy Hart (The Nasty Boys manager) helped Money Inc. get a contract signed for a WWF Tag Title match. The Nasty Boys were mad and dumped him or Hart dump them for Money Inc. Neidhart was probably fired for drugs.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 4, 2002 I remember the vignette where Ellering pulled Rocco out of a garbage can. I was waiting with anticipation to see what Ellering wsa going to find, and then he pulled out a motherfuck dummy. Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad angle there.
