Guest Dave O'Neill, Journalist Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Ok, so, If you remember, I finally got the Best Of Japan 2002 dvd set from Golden Boy. Why I havent sat and watched one whole DVD yet, Ive watched a few matches on each, just for an overview, and in particular to seek out guys I've heard lost about As a result, I've a few questions that maybe the regulars in here could help me out to let me appreciate this lot more. 1. Which of the following is the most talented, because theyve impressed the hell out of me. - Manuba Nakanishi - Hiroyoshi Tenzan - Osuma Nishimura 2. A few years back, Yugi Nagata was a skinny WCW jobber, what the hell ever happened to him. He's pretty good as well. 3. How did Tenzan go from teaming with Kojima in the G-1 League, to Chono for the IWGP belts. 4. The Six Sided Ring was...bizarre to watch to say the least. 5. True or False, Genichiro Tenryu has been around since the dawn of time. Ditto Sasaki 6. On the flipside to that, how young is Naomichi Marifuji 7. Is the CONSTANT cross promotion due to financial difficulties suffered by the big three, or just a Japanese idea or respect for your peers and that sort of thing. 8. On Disc Three, Match Three, Its Mutoh, Kaz Hayashi and George Hines vs Taiyo Kea and two other guys. Mutoh and Co are dressed...like Mutoh. And bald, with beards and stuff. This somewhat creeped me out, was a reason given for this? 9. Curry Man!!!!! Sorry, just wanted to get that out my system. 10. TAKA used his WWF music. Is this legal? 11. In the All Japan matches, the entrance has a picture of Baba. My friend surmised that this could be because Baba is always looking down on them, at his vision?I can agree, so is he right. 12. What is the big fucking deal with Bob Sapp. With his "talent", i'm curious why Vince hasnt signed him YESTERDAY. His match with Nakanishi on Disc 6, from October 14, 2002 was a joke and I'm curious what Nakanishi got in return for jobbing in this "match". Furthermore, was there a reason they barely touched each other?
Guest Black Tiger Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 1. Which of the following is the most talented, because theyve impressed the hell out of me. - Manuba Nakanishi - Hiroyoshi Tenzan - Osuma Nishimura Depends on your style preference. I personally prefer Tenzan, but big fans of methodical mat work love Nishimura 2. A few years back, Yugi Nagata was a skinny WCW jobber, what the hell ever happened to him. He's pretty good as well. Nagata has always been very talented, don't let his WCW treatment fool you. 3. How did Tenzan go from teaming with Kojima in the G-1 League, to Chono for the IWGP belts. Kojima jumped to All Japan in early 2002 and NJPW killed the whole TenKoji's Team 2000 vs Chono's Team 2000 angle 4. The Six Sided Ring was...bizarre to watch to say the least. That's Toryumon and I'm not touching it 5. True or False, Genichiro Tenryu has been around since the dawn of time. Ditto Sasaki Tenryu is something like 54, Sasaki has been around since 1984 6. On the flipside to that, how young is Naomichi Marifuji I believe he's 25, you can check Strong Style Spirit and get his actual age 7. Is the CONSTANT cross promotion due to financial difficulties suffered by the big three, or just a Japanese idea or respect for your peers and that sort of thing. Probably both of them, but dominatly #1. All of Japan is in recesion right now and Puroresu is no exeption. Hines and Hayashi are both Mutoh allies. 9. Curry Man!!!!! Sorry, just wanted to get that out my system. No problem, I'm somewhat of a CF-er myself 10. TAKA used his WWF music. Is this legal? Probably, since he used it 11. In the All Japan matches, the entrance has a picture of Baba. My friend surmised that this could be because Baba is always looking down on them, at his vision?I can agree, so is he right. You could be right, or it just might simply be a way for AJPW to respect the man who started the promotion. I have my own theory about Baba and why AJPW has so much trouble. But this isn't the time nor the place 12. The match was supposed to be Takayama vs Nakanishi, but Nakanishi got hurt in his match vs Misawa when he lost the GHC. Bob Sapp is so popular because of a few MMA wins, and the fact that he is an enormous guy. The man may not be very talented, but he knows how to promote himself

I dont let any WCW affect me, I was just surprised 3. Is that where the famous picture of Tenzan standing on the ropes comes from. 5. I'm willing to bet no-one in the WWE (excluding Flair and Vince) will be around at age 54. And Tenryu will probably still be around aswell Thanks for your help man
