The Rock has been revealing on various media appearances that he will shoot Spy Hunter next. The film will be based on the video game which was about a man named Alec Sects who fights spies using his high tech car.

 

Michael Brandt and Derek Haas (2 Fast 2 Furious) are writng the script.

 

Production will begin in spring of 2004 for a 2005 release.

 

The Rock is also attached to star in Walking Tall.

 

Well, this movie is going to suck. 2F2F was one of the worst movies of the year, so this movie has little hope.

Well that doesn't mean other movies they write will automatically be bad.

 

But a movie based on a car chase video game that had no character development and little plot. I never had any hope for this to be a good movie.

I think Rock taking this movie is a mistake. He's got some great momentum building with the good reviews Rundown is getting (I haven't seen it yet, but it looks very good). Maybe I'm wrong, but I see this Spy Hunter movie bombing.

eh you never can tell with the American General Public.

 

Stupid movies doing great box office in the US isn't a surprise.

 

However, a Spyhunter based movie is basically a blank canvas since the game gives them little to work with. So I suppose it's possible to pull a decent movie out of it.

Game Informer had an interview with the producers. They seem very intent on making a cool movie and taking the "spy hunter" concept literally.

 

The Rock will play Alex Sects, a man who wants down renegade agents before they can turn over sensitive information to the enemy

Well if the can pull off a "young James Bond" type of movie, then it may be an entertaining movie.

 

Of course people seeing it as a rip off of XXX could hurt it.
